Max was well loved. There are tears in my eyes as I write this. Max’s family let us know he was diagnosed with bone cancer. It had progressed so they could only make him comfortable. He crossed the rainbow bridge in May 2023. His family is devastated. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
Jefferson County Humane Society posted they had 2 saint Bernard who were roaming and where taken to the shelter. A male and a female. The female went back to a previous owner however no one claimed the male. He had been at the shelter previously but they could not locate the owner. They were a small shelter and did not have room for someone a large as King. King was a 150 pound smooth coat Saint. I went to visit him. He was in a pen outside. He was very dirty and smell really bad. I thought he had some kind of infection in his ears as he smelled so bad. I reached out to one of our foster in Poulsbo. Patricia asked if I could bring him to her. I said yes. When we arrived King took a little bit to get used to her pups and was very curious about the cat. I stayed for a few hours to make sure King was doing ok. Patricia’s husband came out. King immediately took to him and allowed him to groom him. Patricia said it was fine. I went home. They took him to be groomed. He was so happy to be cleaned. Patricia made a vet appointment and we found he did indeed have a bad ear infection but otherwise a very healthy boy. We started to look for his forever home.
Dustin and his family had been looking tp add another member to their family. Oregon Saint Bernard Rescue was able to do the home check for us and we did the references. Everything was a go. Dustin and his family drove 3 hours north to visit with King. Patricia had already changed his name to Max as this was a name he would answer to. Max met Dustin and his family. It was a match. Dustin and his family took Max home with them. Maxwell loves living indoors with his forever family. He is a very happy boy.
