Savannah Blue: one eye brown, one eye blue, this sweet girl is a 4 year old St. Bernard who is waiting for her “person.” Savannah Blue just wants to be part of the family. She gets along with other dogs but she would be just fine as an only dog. Spayed, shots, microchip 12/31/2005

SASHA: is an 18 month old rough-coat female. She is a smaller bred Saint & weighs in at 95 lbs. Sasha will fill out a little more. Sasha is spayed, housebroken, current on shots, & is on heartworm & flea preventative. Sasha is great with people & children, we prefer 8 years old & up. She has great house manners. Sasha came to us as a neglect case. The former owners left her outside tied up to a tree. Sasha loves to run & play. We prefer her to go to a family with a fenced yard. She walks well on the leash most of the time, but can be easily distracted. Sasha wants to a be a dominant dog. She seems to be fine with other male dogs, but tries to dominate female dogs. We highly recommend obedience training. Sasha will require work & commitment, so she can become the best that she can possibly be. Are you the perfect home for her? 12/28/2005

TAZ: is a 2 year old smooth-coat male. He weighs in at 135 + lbs., & should still fill out a little more. He is a wonderful big boy! Taz came to us by way of Virginia. His owners were moving & turned him over to rescue. Taz is neutered, current on shots & has been heartworm tested. He is also housebroken & crate trained. Fortunately for his new family, Taz does not drool as much as most Saints! He does know a few commands such as “No” , “Sit”, “Lay” & “Paw”. He also walks well on the leash as long as nothing sparks his interest too much. He gets along well with dogs. He does well with cats, but he will chase them if they run. He has also been around loose chickens and has never bothered them. Taz loves to ride in the car, but thankfully he has stopped eating socks! Yes this boy did have a sock fettish! He listens well & seems to be a good boy. He will make a great companion for someone! 12/28/2005

SADIE: is a 4 year old rough-coat female. She weighs in at around 125 lbs. Sadie came to us from a Virginia shelter. She had come in as a stray & no one had claimed her. He is extremely laid back and easy going. He loves to go for car rides. He good with other dogs and cats. She is a little defensive at first but once she realizes that no one will hurt her, she is totally laid back. Theresa will steal food from counters but is not a snatcher if you have food in your hands. She has very good mouth control and is gentle when taking treats. With a little training and socialization with her new owners, she will make a fabulous companion. 12/19/2005

TANK: This sweet fellow is an almost-two-year-old roughcoat male. Tank is a tall boy who is housebroken, neutered, vaccinated, and HW-negative. But as you can see from his photo, he’s missed quite a few meals in his young life. At only 115 pounds our vet thinks he needs to pack on another 30 pounds to grow into his big feet and reach his optimum weight. Poor Tank came to us dehydrated, with a urinary tract infection and an ear infection, which are responding well to antibiotic treatment. Despite this rough start, Tank’s a terrific boy who’s great with children of all ages. He does well with most other dogs. As for cats, he’s quite curious but we don’t think he’d harm a cat. Tank would like a family of his own. A fenced yard would be nice, and preference will be given to applicants with previous Saint or giant-breed experience. Got room in your heart for Tank? Sedona: 2-3 yr old LH neutered male. He’s a very sweet boy, but is a very high energy dog. He’s good with kids and other dogs. Needs lots of tlc and some structure in his life. He’s good on a leash, after a few minutes, which proves he’s trainable. He’s just wants a family to love. 11/7/2005

JAZZY: (short for Jasmine) is a 3 year old rough-coat female. She weighs in at around 110 lbs. or so. We pulled Jazzy from a MD. shelter, where she was scheduled to be euthanized because of lack of space. Jazzy was very depressed in that environment, but has now perked up & is her happy self again. Jazzy is spayed, current on shots, & has been heartworm tested. Jazzy is housebroken, good with other dogs & is fine with cats too. She rides well in the car & LOVES to go for walks, but needs work on the leash. We believe that Jazzy will do well in a family with older kids, 8 years & up. Jazzy is a little on the shy side , but is a very sweet girl. She also seems to be a pretty calm girl & does not jump up on people. When she wants your attention, she will prance around & then sit in front of you. Jazzy loves being petted, having her belly rubbed, likes being brushed, & enjoys leaning up against you. Once she feels comfortable, she will play. Jazzy is also a low drooler. She will make someone a great companion! 11/5/2005

Petey: is a 1-2 year old rough coat Saint Bernard. Petey is a splash coat Saint with no mask. Petey is a LOVE. He is GREAT with children of all ages, including babies. Petey has been fostered with multiple other dogs and has done great with them all. Petey loves nothing more than to crawl in bed with his people and relax! 11/4/2005

Nike: L/H male – almost 8 mos old. Has had some obedience training, has been very well taken care of, gets along with other dogs and cats. Has lived with children. 11/4/2005

Grizzy: (aka Grizzley) is a 120lb (still growing) 1 1/2yr old smooth coat male Saint Bernard. He was abandoned in a home (tied on a chane in a basement) and the construction workers found him when they were going to demolish the house. Lucky for him, he is now safe. He is extremely sweet boy. He is crate trained, house broken and knows basic obedience. He is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on shots, heartworm negative and started on Heartworm, Flea and Tick preventative. Grizzy is looking for someone to love and care for him forever. 11/2/2005

Lance: is a handsome 120lb (still growing) 1 1/2 year old smooth/rough coated Male Saint Bernard. His coat is still like puppy fur. He is neutered and up-to-date on shots. He is heartworm negative and started on Heartworm, Flea and Tick preventative. He is crate trained and housebroken. He is good with other dogs and cats. He loves to play with other animals but sometimes he needs to be reminded of his size. He is learning basic obedience. He loves to play but doesn’t realize how big he is. He’s had two homes in two short years, dumped at a shelter not knowing what he did and know he is looking for a family that will keep him for the rest of his life. Potential adopters MUST have large breed experience and no children under 8 years old. 11/2/2005

Stella: This sweet 5 month old came to us after her owners could no longer care for her properly. They were not properly educated about the breed nor understood what is all involved in having a puppy. She is good with children, other dogs, and cats. She is looking for a home that will give her the proper training she needs and the love she requires! Proof of Obedience Training enrollment will be required for adoption. 11/1/2005

Nana: This very lovable girl came to us as a stray. She was rescued from a shelter after no one came to claim her. She is approximately 5 years old. She knows basic commands and is leash and crate trained. She gets along well with other dogs, cats, and children. She loves belly rubs and enjoys being a lap dog. She is quite the lover!!! 11/1/2005

Daphne: is a 2 year old female that loves everyone. She is still a pup at heart and is very strong. Fenced in yard is required. 10/31/2005

Horse: is a 5 yo neutered male rough coat. His family was transferred to Germany and his Dad sent back to Iraq for a second tour of duty. This guy is a big love bug. His large 145 pound frame takes up quite a bit of space in our kennel laundry room. Horse gets along well with our other Saints and loves people and kids. 10/31/2005

Nico: Sweet one year old male who was rescued from the local shelter. Nico is a good boy, walks well on a leash and is very loving. Neutered, shots, microchip. 10/29/2005

Max: is a 10 year old neutered male. His owners used him for breeding and when his usefulness was up and they decided to clean out their stock and Max was tossed. The poor guy wouldn’t even respond to people when he first went into the shelter. The only stimulus he ever had in his life was eating, smelling where he was to pee, and mating. Thanks to the wonderful shelter staff Max has begun to realize there is great pleasure in being with people who enjoy his company. Max is like a toddler though pulling everything down to taste it. This morning he tasted the flowers on the table and when it fell down he ran into the hallway to hide. He LOVES people, food, and giving kisses. He has even begun to play with one of the fosters dogs. The normal lifespan of a saint Bernard is 8 to 10 years but we have been finding that saints can live up to 12 years old. It is very hard to determine how long Max has to live. We have found a mass in the abdomen but it doesn’t seem to affect him in anyway. It would be wonderful if someone could find room in their hearts to make Max’s their special pal. It would be the first time in his life that he will matter to someone. 10/27/2005

Mable: is a sweet 3-4 yr old rough coat Female Saint Bernard. She was used as a breeding dog since she was 6 months old and she just finished nursing her last litter. She is now spayed, up-to-date on shots, on preventative medicine, housebroken, and crate trained. She is okay with other animals but she must be introduced properly. She is looking for a home where is can enjoy the family life, take walks in the park, play ball in the yard, and snuggle with her owner during evening television. 10/23/2005

RIGGS: is a 5 year old purebred male sporting a fashionable smooth coat. This boy is awesome!! We’ve only had him for a short time. He was turned into a humane society in central West Virginia when his family had a change in circumstances. Riggs rides well in the car and has gotten along with others during the time he was in the shelter and during the meet-and-greet session that he had upon arrival with us. We have been told that he spent the first year of life in the house, but then got too large. After that, Riggs has been outside. As we gain further information and understanding of this boy, we’ll update. Riggs will be brought up to date on his shots and placed on heartworm & flea preventative. He will also be neutered prior to placement. Don’t let this boy pass you by!! 10/21/2005

Pepper: This sweet 5 year old came to us after her owners could no longer care for her. She is great with children, dogs, and cats. She can be quite timid around other dogs her size but warms up. She will require a 5-6ft fence as she likes to visit the neighbors with anything less. She loves to curl in your lap for a belly rub and loves to roll around in the grass! 10/20/2005

Brandy: 18 month old female. Smooth coat. Has already been through two families. The second family surrendered her to the shelter because she is a dominant female. Would do best in a home where she is the only dog because she takes a long time to warm up to the other dogs. She is defensive when meeting them and will growl. Brandy is super submissive with humans and is very people oriented. All she wants to do is please her humans. She is house and crate trained. Knows some obedience. Brandy is great with kids. 10/19/2005

Mozart: is a stunningly beautiful Saint Bernard whose pictures do not do him justice. He is a very well behaved boy in the home who gets along well with other dogs and is respectful to cats. He was exceptional for the groomer and appears to know his basic commands, and has lovely leash manners. This is a very masculine boy who would do his best in a home with large dog experience as he weighs in around 130 lbs and has some filling out to do yet. 10/19/2005

Bailey: is a spayed female rough coat. She’s 8.5 years old. Her family dumped her at a shelter when they moved. She’s a super sweet gal in need of a family to love. 10/19/2005

Roma: She is a 1 1/2 year old female, shorthair, sweet & gentle. Gets along with strangers, other dogs and cats. Just wants to please and be loved. She is a great house dog, not a chewer or digger. Will be spayed on Sept 15th. She is also current on her shots and will have a rabies shot and be heartworm tested. 10/18/2005

Jake: Male, very big, shorthair, 1 1/2 year old, neutered Saint Bernard. Jake needs all forms of training and will need a person committed to take him to a formal obedience school. He was never socialized or trained, but wants to please he just does not know how. Since being with me he has come a long ways in a short time. Jake needs a home without small dogs, cats or small/young children, he is a bull in a china cabinet. 10/18/2005

Bella Donna: This is Bella Donna. She is a beautiful lady. Her white is so very white. She is about 2yrs old and very gentle. She is a fast learner. She was never in a house, but is really coming along quickly. She follows her foster mother from room to room just to be close. 10/18/2005

Juggs: JUGGERNAUT aka JUGGS D.O.B. September 14, 2003 Juggs is a very sweet and lovable almost 2 year old purebred Saint Bernard. He is somewhere between a smooth and a rough coat Saint and drools VERY little. He was given up by his original owner as a puppy because he wouldn’t be contained in a 3-foot fence. The owner wanted him put to sleep but the shelter had other ideas and a young woman took him home. Sadly, she can no longer keep him as her circumstances have changed but she loves him and wants the best home possible for him. He’s a good dog, crates well, loves children, gets along with other dogs and, while very interested in cats, causes no harm and is tolerated by our felines here. He’s pretty laid back but will gladly join in if boisterous play is initiated. He loves to play tug o’war but this is definitely an outside activity! Weighing in at 106 pounds, that can be pretty destructive. He’s good on lead, rides very well in a car with no crating, comes when called and understands “no”. Not a counter surfer and does not beg at mealtime and not a barker. He loves squeaky toys and is a bit of a hoarder. Sound perfect? He almost is. However, he’s still in the puppy stage and should be crated when his people aren’t at home but has not needed the crate at night. We don’t know about bathing but is a real crybaby about having nails trimmed; doesn’t care for ear cleaning and absolutely doesn’t like teeth cleaning. We’re working on that. He’s neutered, UTD on vaccinations, is on flea/tick preventive but still needs the HW check done. 10/18/2005

BERNIE: Hi, I’m Bernie and I’m a BIG handsome , lug of a dog. I am a rough-coat male estimated to be about 4.5 years old and came to HSHC as a stray. I’m a fairly easy going lad who is strong ,but there’s not many reasons that I would pull on leash or get riled up, so a calmer home would suit me best. I also have particular choices in dog friends and haven’t been able to find any here yet as I don’t like boy dogs or dominant females, but staff thinks a low key, submissive female friend might work with me. Otherwise I’d like to be the only dog if that’s ok with you! As for kids, Bernards are typically good with kids, but staff says I haven’t met any here yet, so they ask that anyone interested use good judgment with me and kids. I’m a nice boy who is affectionate but not overwhelmingly so. I am fine alone and can be a bit independent at times. But maybe that’s just because I haven’t found my soul mate yet. 10/17/2005

Pippin: Is a sweetheart of a girl. She’s housetrained, crate trained, knows her basic obedience commands. She loves to go for rides, play with her rubber chicken and is the love of her foster Mom’s life. We think that Pippin is a Saint Bernard, Australian Shepherd mix. She’s going to be about 50 – 65 lbs when fully grown. Pippin has been microchipped and is on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. 10/17/2005

He is starving for attention. He loves to have his belly scratched. Hercules seems to be healthy, but has not been seen by our veterinarian yet. She seems to want to play with them, but big brother wants to protect her. We believe that once she gets to meet them, she will be fine and play too. Tasha: seems like a dog who was well-loved and so doesn’t bring a lot of emotional baggage. Once settled, she is a great companion who loves people and gets along well with our other dog. She has met our cats, chickens and sheep and is curious, but not aggressive with them. We have not seen her around small children, (sorry, I couldn’t borrow any) but my guess is that she would be wonderful. She is completely housebroken – has never had an accident- and has some training. She knows “heel” and “come” but seldom cares to respond to them. I guess I can see the separation anxiety you or Floyd mentioned – she does tend to follow me from room to room and to get upset when we leave the house. But she hasn’t done anything destructive and she’s very good about going into her crate when necessary. 9/29/2005

Barry: 11 month old LH male puppy. Very sweet. Good with other dogs. 9/29/2005

Petey: Hi there, my name is Petey! I am a really cool pure-bred rough coat splash Saint Bernard! One of the neat things about me is that one side of me is almost all white! The other side has splashes of brown! I also have a neat patch around my left eye! Cool huh? My foster mommy says that I am only a pup! I can to rescue as a stray and no one can really believe that my family abandoned me. I am SUCH a good boy. They think I might be between 1-3 years old, but everyone that meets me thinks I am on the younger side. My feet are huge! I am not a large Saint, I weigh around 120# and I am at a good weight right now. I love ALL people, including children, and adults. I also love other dogs, large and small. I have not been around kitty cats in my foster home, but I probably would do alright. I am just a happy go lucky kind of guy! My foster mom says that I walk pretty well on leash. I will sit if you offer me a treat (come on, I’m not going to do it for nothing!), and I am ready and willing to learn other commands. I like to keep my tummy cool and love tile floors. My foster mommy gave me a nice bath and I was such a good boy! I am up to date on all of my shots, I am neutered (well, they tell me that is happening tomorrow!), and I am the perfect picture of health. I am house trained although I cannot fib, I have marked a few times. They tell me that neutering will help me with this, but I think I could stop on my own! Can I come home with you? 9/28/2005

I am a very sweet girl, I was a little shy when I first was turned over to rescue by my previous owners, but I am really coming out of my shell and enjoying my new life in my foster home. I am quite mellow for a pup. I love other dogs, cats, kids, etc. I know that I will make a great pet for someone wishing to give me the love and attention that I deserve. I have a little eye infection right now, but Saint rescue is taking good care of me and I know that I will be completely healthy very soon! 9/28/2005

Unfortunately, mom didn’t love the game as much as Bogart. He is eager to please but likes to do things his way (like a typical Saint pup). If he doesn’t want to do what he is asked, he will sit down and plant his front paws in the ground like it’s cement. He loves to chew especially bones and raw hides. Pebbles is a very gentle, loving, well-mannered girl that just wants to have a forever home! She gets along with other dogs and is extremely careful to ‘not’ step on little dogs. We don’t know her opinion of cats but with her gentle spirit it would very strange if she didn’t like them. Mila loves people and her goal in life is to see how many she can snuggle up too. She is housetrained, crate trained, and loves to go bye bye. GEORGIA: What a little peach! Georgia is a three-year-old roughcoat who is spayed, UTD on vaccinations and HW-negative. She did test low positive for Lyme disease, though she wasn’t symptomatic, and was started on antibiotics. She completed her meds and is now anxious to get on with her life. An owner-surrender, Georgia’s original family moved out of state, and their new condo had weight restrictions on dogs so they had to leave her behind. She’s hoping to find another family to on whom to bestow kisses. Georgia would like a family with kids. She wouldn’t mind a cat but prefers to be the family’s only dog. She will need a fenced yard. Large- or giant-breed experience would be a plus. 8/16/2005

JACKSON: This handsome roughcoat boy is two-year-old Jackson. He’s vaccinated and neutered and HW-negative. He finished a course of antibiotics for Lyme disease (really prevalent in this geographical area) and an extensive skin infection, most likely due to an allergy to flea saliva. Jacksie has VERY long legs and delights in doing sprints across the yard (when he isn’t sleeping on the sofa, that is). He’s a bit on the thin side and will need to gain around 10 more pounds. He’s friendly with most other dogs and is reported to do well with cats. Jackson’s perfect family will have children over age 10 who are willing to give lots of cuddles. A fenced yard is strongly preferred but is not essential. The successful candidate will have Saint experience. 8/16/2005

“W” puppies::: Meet the “W” puppies — Wilbur, Woody and Wynona. Just nine weeks old, they came into Rescue after being confiscated by Animal Control due to a neglect situation. Wilbur and Woody have been neutered; Wynona has been spayed. They’ve received their first distemper vaccination and have been started on heartworm prevention. They’re VERY adorable and VERY sweet. Wilbur’s the imp, Woody’s the love-sponge and Wynona, well she’ll just wrap her paws around your heart. He has spent most of his short life on a tie out. Finally, after months and months, he escaped the tie and he was picked up by animal control. His previous owners were called but they didn’t want him back. Due to being tie out, he loves to go for walks but if you come to a stop, he likes to circle around you on a leash (due to the tie out). We are working on correcting this. Toby’s ideal home would be have a fenced in yard. Due to his age, he would benefit from further obedience training. He is a very sweet boy who is eager to find his forever home. 8/12/2005

He likes to go for rides, and hops right up in a crate. Beau has been neutered and vaccinated. He tested mildly positive for heartworms, so a 6-month supply of Heartguard will be given to his adopter. Tiny: Poor Tiny! Tiny has lived with his owner for 4 1/2 years. He is approximately 5 1/2 years-old. While his former owner furnished information on him, they did not answer the question “Why are you releasing this animal?” Tiny ‘s family included children ages 5 months to 26 years-old. It’s possible that there were two generations living in this household. Perhaps they didn’t think they had room for Tiny anymore. This is a shame because Tiny is a very sweet boy. Of course, he’s huge, but he’s calm and gentle. Tiny enjoys playing ball, frolicking around water and particularly enjoys going for rides in the car. If you love this breed and have room for this big boy in your heart and your home, please come to the shelter and meet Tiny in person. He will require some leash training but he knows his basic commands. If you ask him to “show belly”, he goes right on to his back! He was an inside doggie for the first 1 1/2 years of his life and has since been outside. It is likely that house training will not be much of an issue if any at all. He loves other dogs and all people. He has lived with a Rottie. Austin has been playing a little in the mud and will have a nice bath before placement! 7/17/2005

He still tries to show that he would like to be an indoor family member. Still showing that he knows where to potty. Bubbles: (AKA Shady Lady) was very close to death. We even released her to be put to sleep last week. I then asked our web master to remove her from our rescue site . Then the good news came in the next morning, Bubble’s was beginning to recover and is now stable. Bubbles was chained to a tree and left by her owner’s she is about 16 to 18 months old. She is very people friendly. She had lived indoors the neighbors tell us until her family moved away. She was chained to her tree for a least a month. Surviving on rain water and tree bark. She cut and banged her face and head in efforts we believe were to get lose from her death tree. At this time she is dog aggressive, So she may have been attached by other dogs while there. Her hip and rib bones where showing very badly when she was rescued. Her foster home was over whelmed with trying to save her so I had to have her vetted now for the last week. She will be able to be placed soon. She has been wormed. Heart worm neg. She has had her shots. The vet believes she has already been spayed by her old owners. Yes the police are looking for them to charge them. Her vet bill will be costly so any help you can give Arkansas SBRF fund would be appreciated. OF course Bubbles is first on our list for need at this time. starssts@earthlink.net is the email addy for Carol Beck the national SBRF president she will be happy to arrange your donations to Saint Bernard Rescue Foundation. Her head and eye wounds are now getting better. She is Clean and happy to love people. She is not now food aggressive but is still dog aggressive so far. We have no Idea about Cats and other pets. So a no pet home would be best for her at this time. Unless you cat is fast on her feet (just kidding of course). Some Cats can perhaps demand respect. Bubbles may not have a problem with cats we just do not know at this time. We really believe this aggressiveness is a lack of food, fear issue for her at this time. She is very jealous of her lovin’s from her people for now and does not wish to share them with other dogs at all. 7/8/2005

adult female: Also we have another female coming in this week she is a street pick up and it is unknown as to her age. She is an adult female , needs spayed, and is finishing a treatment for mange. I do not have her contact info nor her photo and up date information as I only received word an hour ago of her being placed by our Rescue group here in Arkansas. 7/8/2005

Scrappy: is a 6-week old pure-bred Saint Bernard puppy. He currently weighs close to 14#! His parents are smaller Saints, around 100-115#. He was turned over to Saint rescue because he has a minor medical issue and his breeder could not sell him. His issue is something that can be corrected and will not effect his quality of life or his life span. Scrappy is the king of the house. He runs the roost so to speak! He is loving and sweet and can’t wait to find a family all his own. If you are interested in learning more about Scrappy. 6/28/2005

Titan: Hello there. My name is Titan. Here’s my story. They think that I am about a year old which means I am still growing! I am a male, neutered, rough coat Saint Bernard and I am as goofy as they come! Right now I weigh 125#, and I think I could put on about 30 more by the time all is said and done. I was rescued from a shelter where I stayed after they found me out in the world looking for my family. I was neutered at the shelter, updated on all my vaccines, heartworm tested, and I hear that I will now go to yet another vet through Saint rescue to check me out even further! Wow. Lot’s of attention! I found out that I am heartworm positive which means I have at least two months of treatment ahead of me. I will stay with my nice foster family until I am cleared. I LOVE people. I am a BIG goofy boy and I love other dogs too. I don’t appear to have any food aggression issues and we will soon learn if I am reliably housetrained. I know some basic commands but as I like to say, I’m a work in progress. More information to come as my foster family gets to know me better! 6/28/2005

HARLEY: Hi there, my name is Harley and I am a 2-year old rough coat male Saint Bernard. The nice people of Saint Bernard Rescue picked up me and my brother from our first home in West Virginia. My brother has been adopted and now I am looking for my forever home. I weigh around 110# now and will likely stay smaller than most male Saints. I was pretty shy when I first came in to rescue, but thanks to my foster family and the other dogs in my home, I have come out of my shell rather nicely. It would be nice for my new owners to have large breed experience and I wouldn’t mind having a doggie friend to play with. I get along well with all other animals including chickens. Yes I said chickens! I was raised on a farm so am used to all of the things that farm life has to offer. I am getting along well with my foster family’s children, but I might do best in a home with children who are a little older. I am learning a lot of new things in my foster home but I would love to have a forever home that I can call my own. I am neutered, up to date on vaccines, and on heartworm & flea prevention. I am housetrained and crate trained and am learning new basic obedience skills every day! 6/28/2005

Bo: Bo is a black mask, rough coat saint. Bo gets along with other dogs (once they’ve asserted their dominance over him). He’s housebroken, doesn’t counter surf and knows his basic commands. BRUTUS: is a very sweet 2 year old rough-coat boy ,who weighs in at 123, through he will probably not grow much more, but he will fill out some. He is very strong and walks well on his leash, though he could use some additional training. He travels exceptionally well in the car. Brutus comes from a farm with lots of different animals and people with young children. Since he does not know how strong he is, he may knock younger children over when playing. Brutus has lots of energy so he will need exercise and/or a big fenced yard. Brutus loves his belly rubs and will fit right in to an active family. Brutus is neutered, current on his shots and is on heartworm/frontline. 6/25/2005

Bosco: is an 18 month old pure white male Pit Bull terrier. Bosco was rescued along with three Saint Bernard’s from a rural kill shelter in TN. He was such an exceptional dog, the shelter director persuaded us to take him also. He is friendly, out going and has the sweetest temperament. Bosco is affectionate and loves everyone, including other dogs, kids and cats. He is house trained, crate trained, and is very well mannered in the house. He walks well on a leash and knows basic obedience commands. He loves playing with the neighborhood children and going on walks and car rides. He is neutered, current on vaccinations and is on heartworm and flea preventative. He will make a wonderful pet. 6/23/2005

Scotty: a 2 1/2 yr old Shorthaired male. He is a big gentle boy who loves people. He’s pretty decent on a leash. Not sure how he is with other dogs, small kids, or cats. Therefore we wouldn’t want to place him with kids under 10yrs. old. He’s very loving and wants a forever home to be your faithful companion. 6/21/2005

Jerry: is a 3YO neutered male rough coat. This guy is super sweet and loving. He sneaks into the hospital ward to sit w/ sick animals. He also loves to play dress up. He currently weighs 127 pounds and needs some more weight on him. A big beautiful dog. 6/21/2005

Kojak: is an 3 year old large rough coat Saint Bernard with a full mask. He is a handsome and stately gentleman. Kojak has a calm nature and is well behaved. He walks on leash very well without pulling. He gets along well with everyone, including kids, cats and other dogs. He loves to be with people, go on car rides and walks. He is neutered, up to date on shots and is on heart worm and flea preventative. 6/21/2005

Ashley: is a young female, full masked smooth coated Saint Bernard. She was extremely thin when she was surrendered to us as well as suffering with tick infestation and a case of demodex mange. She’s since been treated and over the mange. She’s flea and tickless and is ready for a forever home. 6/20/2005

HENRY: is estimated to be around 5 years old. He seems to be some kind of hound mix. Henry weighs in at 60 lbs. Here is Henry’s story; One of my foster people was driving home from work at 6am. in the morning. When she past an animal that was all curled up, hit in the middle of the highway . She assumed the animal was dead, but to her surprise, as she drove by, the poor thing lifted it’s head up & glanced at her going by. This animal ended up being Henry. She quickly turned around, hoping that no one else had hit him again, by the time she got back to him. It was of course pitched black & she ran out in the middle of the highway & picked him up. Henry was bloody & in pain, but was still happy to see her. Then I got the call at 630 am. ” Kathi , I found a dog that has been hit by a car, can you help me, I cannot afford to take him to the vet” So yes , even though we do Saint Bernard Rescue, we are not going to turn down a dog in this kind of situation. So off to the vet Henry went. Henry did have an owner’s tag on him. We left messages at that number & so did the vet. Meanwhile Henry needed immediate surgery. He had fractured his Humerus, so the vet put pins in him. The vet bill came to $600 for this boy. Finally the owner called back, he didn’t even ask how his dog was doing, & just told us he didn’t want him. Lucky for Henry! Now Henry (we gave him this name, we do not know his original name) is in foster care recouping from surgery, & the first time in his life he is getting the love he deserves. He loves being a house dog! Henry plays with the other dogs, but may do better as an only pet, because he gets jealous when anybody else gets attention. He loves being petted & getting hugs. Henry seems to be good with children, preferably older ones. He is doing great with the house breaking & does well in the house with his manners. Please find it in your heart to give this boy the home that he deserves! He will be neutered prior to adoption. We are asking for a $200 adoption fee. We are also excepting donations to help cover Henry’s vet bill. 6/20/2005

King: is a handsome 2 year old rough coat male. A very friendly, pleasant boy he is up to date on shots and HW negative. Older children, giant breed experience and fenced yard preferred. 6/17/2005

LACY: 1 1/2 yr. old, long haired, spayed female. Lacy was with Rocky (above) at animal control for 3 months. She is very shy, but very sweet. She is very cute and very petite, weighing only 70 lbs. 6/16/2005

Hannah: is a lovely longhaired female Saint Bernard. Hannah is about four years old, and her owner says that she is an excellent dog. She is housebroken and very well behaved – she doesn’t “counter surf” at all! Hannah is good with kids and other dogs and loves to ride in the car. She also loves to go for walks. Hannah has been spayed, is up to date on her shots, and is on heartworm preventative. 6/16/2005

Malaki: This is Malaki he is 11 mos old. Crate trained, housebroke, learning basic obedience commands, fully vetted, all shots current, Neutered and wormed. He weighs 107# and is on the skinny side but eating well in rescue. He seems to not mind cats in the least ignores them even when they are hissing at him. Same with dogs although only tested in very limited and controlled environment so far. He is just a real sweet boy who seems to learn quickly and wants to please. Food is definitely a motivator loves treats! Would do better with either no kids or at least no small kids as he likes to lean on you and loves to give kisses rather enthusiastically! 6/12/2005

Oliver: sweet, adorable 7 year old male St. Bernard who was placed three years ago thru our Rescue and now he is back in need of a new, loving home due to divorce and downsizing. Oliver is a wonderful boy who is friendly and kind to all; dogs (of any size), cats, children he wants to be part of a family again. 6/12/2005

Baron Von Bernard: Not quite an original name for a St. Bernard! This 2 year old male St. Bernard is a sweetie. He lost his home when his owners moved and didn’t take him along. Bernard just needs some obedience training to be better on a leash. He is housebroken, good with other dogs and cats and is a friendly boy to all he meets. 6/12/2005

BRADY: is a playful 2-1/2 year old Saint/Lab cross. He is neutered, vaccinated and housetrained. He was successfully treated for heartworm disease and has completely recovered. Brady (also called Clown Boy by his foster mom) is a silly, happy little fellow who runs like the wind. And when he’s really happy he does helicopter jumps — you know, straight up in the air, with all four paws leaving the ground at the same time. (Hmmm. Maybe he’s part pogo stick.) He’s got lots of energy so if you’re looking for a couch potato Brady’s not the boy for you. He will definitely need a fenced yard. He does well with good-sized submissive female dogs but doesn’t care for cats or small dogs. He’s fine with children; however, due to his energy level he would probably do best with kids over 9 or 10. Brady would like you to come and meet him. He’s eager to begin his new life with a family of his own. Might that be you? 6/12/2005

LILLY: is a beyond-sweet little charmer who has not had an easy time of it in her brief two years. Abandoned by her humans, she became pregnant by a neighbor’s chocolate lab and gave birth to four puppies. (She came to us with her pups.) She’s spayed and UTD on shots, and is housetrained. She was badly infested with heartworms, which we’ve treated, and soon she’ll be ready to be adopted and bestow kisses on a lucky family. Lilly’s a tiny little girl who loves to cuddle. She does well with children, cats, and most dogs. She’s VERY special and would like a special family of her own. Might that be you? 6/12/2005

C.J.: is a 7 year old rough coat neutered male. He is a very sweet boy that gets along well with cats and dogs. He grew up with 3 boys that considered C.J. their brother. The boys, needless to say, were heartbroken when they had to give him up. C.J. is completely housebroken and walks well on a leash. Do not let this behavior fool you as he is extremely spoiled. When hungry he will open your cabinet doors looking for something tasty to eat. It didn’t take his foster mom long to find out that C.J. prefers their bed to sleep on rather than his doggie bed. He loves to gross her out mom by drinking out of the toilet and then proceeds to sniff the kitty litter. Not only is his face dripping from his drink but he has kitty litter stuck to it and can’t understand why he is being reprimanded. He just gives her that goofy look and wags his tail thinking that he’s quite the DOG. So if you are looking for a big lovable goof that will keep you in stitches with a constant smile on your face C.J.
is the dog for you. 6/11/2005

Chris: is an 8 mo old neutered male Saint mix. He loves to play is good with people and all size other dogs. 6/11/2005

Saint: & Bernard: What’s better than one Saint? How about TWO!! Bernard is a BIG, lovable St. Bernard who grew up at the coast and has shared his life with his close friend, “Saint.” Bernard is a rough-coated and Saint is a smooth-coated St. Bernard. They are neutered and spayed and have no health issues other than some intermittent arthritis that is easily controlled with glucosamine and aspirin. They were purchased as pups from different litters and raised together. They are 8 years old and must not be separated as they are very bonded. Both dogs are well-socialized and get along with other dogs, cats, and people. They are not housebroken, but they have good leash manners and have had basic obedience training. They love to be brushed and talked to, and would do very well in a securely fenced yard with someone who understands and appreciates the breed. These two can be adopted through K-9 Rescue (a dog rescue specializing in seniors), currently located near Portland, Oregon, but soon to be relocated to Klamath Falls, Oregon. 6/9/2005

3 males::: and 1 female: These gorgeous pups are 7-weeks old and are new to Saint Rescue in Virginia. There are 3 males and 1 female, rough coat, pure-bred Saint Bernards. They will be spayed and neutered prior to going to their new homes. They each have their own personalities and are such characters. 6/7/2005

Leroy: is a 16 month old, rough coat neutered male that weighs 150 pounds. He is a big mush that craves all the attention he can get. Although he is not dog aggressive he is very dominate with other dogs so it is best that he is placed in a home where he is the only pet. Leroy loves to be groomed and enjoys rides in the car. Due to the fact that he not full grown it is best that his new owners continue with his obedient training. Leroy is not completely housebroken so he is crated during the day while his foster mom is at work and at bedtime. 6/6/2005

Lucas: Hello, My name is Lucas and I am looking for a loving new home. I am about 18 months old (Vet Est.) pure bred Saint . I am healthy, current on my vaccinations, on heart-worm preventative and neutered . I really like to play tug-o-war, devour treats and am readily available for long belly rubs. I like other dogs, kids and adults. I even like cats. I will chew on contraband (Shoes) when home alone and bored. Sometimes I have the urge to roam, so a fenced yard is a must. 6/5/2005

Daisy: is an 8 month old pure bred, happy, young Saint puppy looking for a loving permanent home. She is healthy, spayed, vaccinated, and on heart-worm preventative. Daisy is excellent with other dogs and cats. She knows basic commands, is leash trained, very affectionate, and playful. Daisy is not housebroken. She is still a puppy though, who likes to play, run and gets excited when she meets new people. She loves meeting new people and loves getting petted. Her other favorite things to do are to go on walks and car rides. Lily was adopted, but within a few days she turned up turned up as a stray in a shelter and was brought back to rescue. She is spayed, current on all shots, and is on heart worm and flea preventative. Lily is a wonderful puppy who deserves a family committed to providing her with the love and care she needs. Would you like to be Lily’s forever family? 6/1/2005

MANDEE: is a 17 month old rough-coat female. She weighs in at around 115 lbs. or so & is still growing! Mandee will be spayed, current on shots & heartworm tested prior to adoption. Mandee came to us because her owner came down with a medical condition & could no longer take care of her. Her previous owner also kept her as an outside dog. Mandee is sure loving the indoor life now! So far she has not had any accidents in the house & is doing wonderfully with house training. Mandee is very kid friendly & great with other dogs. She is very puppyish & excitable! We prefer Mandee to go to a home with a fence. She needs a safe place to run off her energy! Mandee is very loving, affectionate & outgoing. She is starving for attention & requires lots of belly rubs. Mandee does not have a mean bone in her body! She rides well in the car, & pulls some on the leash, but not a lot. Mandee is highly treat motivated, & can probably be taught to do anything. Mandee will benefit from some basic obedience training, as well as any dog that comes into rescue. Mandee seems to do okay with cats, but if they run, she will chase them. Mandee will make a great family companion. 5/31/2005

SULTAN: is a 12 week old rough-coat male puppy. He is the smallest of the three littermates, weighing in at around 25 lbs. or so. Sultan is neutered, current on shots, has been heartworm tested & is micro-chipped. He is crate trained & almost housebroken too. Sultan is good with other dogs & even cats. Sultan is a very smart puppy, & really wants to please his owner. He loves being around people, but does not care to play rough. He is a very low-key, quiet boy. Sultan rides well in the car. He is not a jumper, & loves to watch and observe everyone. Sultan will make a great family pet. 5/31/2005

BOOTS: is a 5-6 year old (estimated by vet) rough-coat male. He weighs in at 150 lbs.! Boots is neutered, current on his shots & has been heartworm tested. He is crate trained, & has not had any accidents in the house either. Boots is a very large male, with a very laid back attitude. He seems to careless about the other male dog in the household. He is not really the playing type, just loves to be right next to you with his head in your lap! & what a BIG head it is !!!! Boots also enjoys being rubbed all over. He seems to walk well on the leash too. Boots is also a BIG leaner! He will lean up against you for attention. Boots wants someone that he can just hang out with all day long. He not a very active boy & seems to be a gentle giant. 5/31/2005

Mattie: is a new arrival She will be two years old in June. She is housebroken and LOVES her family. She is great with children. She needs to be with you or close by at all times. No backyard alone for her. She has excellent house manners. She loves to go for car rides. Mattie still has to be spayed prior to adoption, but other than that she’s ready for a family of her own. Mattie was rescued by a family who loved her dearly, but their Jack Russell didn’t think much of her. To keep peace in their household, they called us. She walks well on a leash, but occasionally pulls. We’re working on that. She is a quick learner. 5/31/2005

Ladybug: and Boomer: are a bonded pair of 6-year old pure-bred rough coat Saint Bernard’s who are looking to find a home where they can live out their years providing their new owners with much happiness and joy. Unfortunately their owner passed away and there are no family members that are able to adopt them. They have been without their human for over a week now and as you can imagine are mourning his loss. These two pups have an incredible spirit about them. They are loving, gentle, and appear to love other dogs of all shapes and sizes. They are used to living outside but have a garage area with a doggie door that leads in to their beds and their food. They have both been around children and do not seem to have any fears. Boomer apparently spent some time in the house, but Ladybug did not. Both are likely housetrained as they can distinguish between their garage and the outside. These pups have been well taken care of. They are up to date on their vaccinations, have been on heartworm preventative, and have also been maintained on flea control. Their coats are nice and overall, they reflect having been well cared for. They want nothing more than to love you and for you to love them back. Please help us find a good home for these two pups who are lost without their human. Our first choice would be to place them together, but if this is not possible, we are looking for the best home for each of them. 5/30/2005

Beethoven: 6yr old rough coat male Saint Bernard. He is neutered, up-to-date on shots and on heartworm preventative. He does not use his back left leg due to a brake that was never treated when he was a puppy. The leg does not seem to bother him at all & aside from the limp, you would never know.. He was examined and we are waiting for the results. This injury doesn’t NOT stop him from running and playing with other dogs. Beethoven currently living at a boarding kennel in Northern NJ. He, along with his two housemates (both of which were intact males), were signed over to the kennel because the owner could not care for them. He’s about 110lbs and starting to gain weight. He has absolutely NO aggression issues at all. He loves to play with his toys, bones, and especially his Kong with peanut butter! Beethoven enjoys being washed, groomed and getting his nails done. He has NOT been tested with cats. If asked, “Beethoven, are you handsome?”, he rolls over & gives his belly for rubs. He also will take every chance to sit on you as opposed to sitting near you ! Leroy: is a handsome rough coat male. He is neutered and up-to-date on shots. He’s about 150lbs (still growing) and 16 months of age. He and his playmate, Sasha, were tied up in an outside pen with NO socialization. Even though he was brought up in this environment, he is still a lovable, cuddly youngster with a sweet disposition and eager to please. He is learning basic obedience (sit, stay, down). He does well with other dogs and strangers, although he gives wet, sloppy licks when greeting. He enjoys walking on a leash (as long as there aren’t any squirrels, rabbits or cats), and carries the newspaper in for his foster mom each morning. He would prefer to be the only dog or live with a submissive female dog. He would like to rule the house (dominant not aggressive). He will only be adopted as a member of the family living INDOORS. 5/18/2005

EDISON: is an 18 month old rough-coat male. He weighs in at around 143 lbs. or so & is still growing! Edison is neutered, current on shots & has been heartworm tested. This guy is big & handsome! He is good with other dogs & children. Edison shows a little too interest in cats, but does not show any aggression towards them. Edison came to us because his owner has cancer, & he was just too much dog for them. He has wonderful house manners & is housebroken too. Edison does know some commands such as “SIT”, “DOWN”, “STAY” & he comes very well on a recall. Edison does need some work with walking on a leash, but other wise he is a super dog! 5/16/2005

SADIE: is a 5 year old beautiful smooth-coat female. She weighs in at around 130 lbs. or so. Sadie is spayed & current on her shots. She is good with children & other dogs. Sadie shows too much interest in cats, so we would not recommend her to go to a home with them. She is also housebroken . Sadie originally came into rescue when she was 2 1/2 years old. She was living outside, chained to a doghouse with a variety of other dogs. She was adopted to family who have loved & cared for her for the past 2 1/2 years. They are now having to give her & her other Saint buddy up , because they can know longer keep them. Since our foster homes are full, she will have to be boarded at a kennel, which will highly stress Sadie out. Saints do not do well in a kennel environment. 5/16/2005

Bernice: This little cutie is quite the petite one! She weighs around 90 pounds and is about 10-12 months old. She is a very gentle and loving dog. She walks well on a leash, performs basic commands, and loves children, cats, and other dogs. If you are looking for a Saint but overwhelmed by the size, Bernice may be the one for you! 5/16/2005

Belle: is a 16 month old spay smooth coat female. She is housetrained and seems to love other dogs but can play very rough when she is wound up. She is a very dominate female that likes to throw her weight around. Belle has this keen ability to know who’s buttons she can push and who she needs to behave with. She is very large and very puppy acting. Belle loves to growl in play and will make a toy out of anything that is not bolted down. Slippers, remotes, and telephones would be her favorite toys if allowed. Belle’s foster mom is pretty tough and doesn’t let her get away with an inch. Due to her size and excess energy Belle will do best in an adult household with a fenced yard so she can run off some of that energy. She will definitely need a job like cart pulling, agility, and or obedient trials. I have a kong for Belle and she usually has it figured out in 5 to 10 minutes. The weak and the mild need not apply. Belle is looking for someone that will spend a lot of time with her and also be her friend and companion. 5/15/2005

Pandy: is a wonderful ol’ gal, right around seven years old. She adores children, is great with other dogs and is kind to her feline companions. A sweeter dog you could not find. She loves kisses, hugs, short walks and doesn’t have a bad habit. She is fastidiously housebroken and never messes indoors. As Pandy is a bit on the older side, she has slowed down. While she adores short walks, she has some arthritic changes in her hips and knees and it keeps her mellow. Pandy is taking thyroid medication and deramax for her arthritis, but her blood work is otherwise very good. Pandy would be a wonderful dog for just about any household, but would greatly enjoy a home without stairs and with a family who understands that she cannot play for long periods of time. Pandy is now living with another dog, two cats and three young children ages 5, 7 and 10. Pandy is up to date on all her shots, is spayed and housebroken. 5/15/2005

Rosie: a rough coat, approximately 3 1/2 years old Saint Bernard. She’s housebroken, does not counter surf. Walks well on a leash, loves to go for a ride, will spend hours by your side. She would love to sleep beside you at night or follow you around the house. Rosie doesn’t counter surf, chew on things, bother the trash cans or any of those other obnoxious habits that dogs can develop. Rosie’s only fault is that she HATES cats! Do you have a catless house and like to have a forever companion? 5/13/2005

Sebrina: 2 year old LH female. Slow to warm up to new dogs. Currently living with another Saint Bernard, but it took a two week adjustment. Good with kids. Just came in this week. Will post more later. 5/11/2005

Willie: I’m a two-year-old longhair St. Bernard and I love to be with people. I got picked up by the animal police, my family did not come get me, I do not know why. Maybe I slobbered and was to BIG? But I’m a Saint Bernard! I like people, kids and other animals. I’m quite, gentle and housebroke. I do need some more training, but will walk on a leash. If you adopt me I promise to be good, but you have to tell me what is good. 5/10/2005

He’s a gentle boy who’s great with kids of all ages, other dogs, and cats. His favorite thing is cuddling with his humans. Bradley will need a fenced yard as he loves to run like the wind to burn off all that puppy energy. And since he has really long legs he can cover lots of territory. Beethoven: ran away from an abusive/neglectful situation. We were able to rescue to other St’s from this situation about 6 mo ago, but the person refused to give up the male. Well, lucky for Beethoven he was able to finally get away and the owners wouldn’t pay the shelter to get out. So rescue was finally able to help him. He is positive heartworm, possible Lymes disease and malnourished, just as his female St’s were from this place. 5/6/2005

Missy: is a female St rescued from A VERY neglectful situation!! Missy and another St were left to roam the swamp land that the “owners” had. They had to find food where they could, when they could, in the garbage. They had to fend for themselves, and find their own shelter also. The “owner” also has another St that happens to be a male and he is tied up “behind the barn”! When we picked up the girls , they were both severely infested with ticks and turned out to be Heartworm positive. The other female Oreo has Been adopted and Missy has been spayed and been treated for heartworm and ready to be adopted by her forever home. I was picked up by animal control as a stray and then they transferred me to the nice people that help us Saints. I am so hungry that I have trouble standing up. The vet said that my body started feeding off of my muscle so I need to build up my tone again. I am told this could take some time. I am very nice and adore children. I love my belly rubbed. If you would like to help me you could make donations to rescue for my care ( Sammy in Virginia). I also will be looking for a forever home once I am well. 4/28/2005

He appears to be housetrained, good with other dogs, good with people, but exuberant in play! He weighs approximately 130#, is rather thin, and will likely need to gain at least 30 more. Because of his size and zest for life, Baxter should go to a home with older children or without children at this time. He will also need a family that is committed to working on his training and confidence building. He is a bit head shy and has ear infections that have been left untreated. Baxter will be fully vetted prior to going to his new home. He is neutered and has a beautiful coat. Baxter is crate-trained and loves his treats! Baxter is initially protective of his treats and food around other dogs, which may or may not subside with proper nutrition and weight gain. Baxter is looking for his new forever home. 4/28/2005

Gracie: I’m a five year old St. Bernard and I want to be loved. I was found huddled in a loving family’s garage in Galt, CA and, despite extensive efforts, my owners weren’t found. When discovered, I was wearing a faded and very tight collar with no tags. My owners didn’t seem to try to find me, either, but the folks that found me had two dogs already and no room for me. So I’m now in a foster home. I’d love to come live with you! In true St. Bernard character, I am quiet and gentle, though I slobber a bit. My foster mom just keeps a rag close by. I get along with cats and other dogs and am very affectionate. 4/27/2005

Sam: I am located in Southwest Missouri about 30 miles from Springfield, MO. The Saint Bernard that I am fostering is one that I have boarded in the past. (I have a very small boarding kennel and he was one of my clients). He is truly a phenomenal dog with one exception. Since I last boarded him in Aug of this year, he has had some bad experiences with men. He is now very fearful of them and is suffering from men-based fear aggression. I have been working with him, ( I have had him now for 3 weeks) and I am thrilled to say he is getting much better! Over the holidays I had quite a few people coming and going, dropping off dogs to be boarded. He didn’t growl or bark at anyone! ( This is a first since he came to me). We have been working with him with my 20 year old son and husband, having them give him treats every time he does something for them, (sit, down, etc.). He has now learned that they aren’t a threat ( not half bad after all!) and after this past weeks’ stellar performance with my boarding clients, I think he is getting the drift that all men are not bad! (I also ask any of the clients who were dropping off dogs to be boarded, who weren’t afraid of a big dog, to give him a treat as they talked to him. He loved it!) He really just needs a home with someone who understands saints and is willing to work more with him. Under most circumstances he is nothing more than a 160 lb. baby who loves to sit with his head in your lap. To me he is still a little underweight but I am trying to put some weight on him. He also is truly a “dry-mouthed” St. Very rarely do I get the “industrial strength” shoe-string adhesive from him!! 4/19/2005

SPENCER: has a big heart and a soft soul. This 95 lb ( & still growing !) 11 month old neutered male puppy came in as a stray and was initially very scared around his new foster parents. However in the few weeks he has been in foster care he has made great strides in learning to trust. Once this pup figures out you are a friend he is happy to hang out and even happier to have your attention. When Spencer first arrived he didn’t have a clue as to what a brush was but now….oh boy does he love it especially under his chin… we can almost hear him going “ahhhh”. Spencer walks very well on a leash although is still a little nervous in new settings. In these cases he will just lower his head and follow closely behind the person at the other end of the lead. On his maiden voyage to the local PetSmart he remained calm and absolutely Saintly despite the plethora of dogs and kids running around and up to him. Spencer gets along well with his foster cat brothers as well as with his foster dog brothers – now that he learned he is “low man on the totem pole” following just behind his 11 lb terrier foster brother! Spencer is crate trained and is working on his housebreaking. He is as well mannered in the house as he is out of the house. He is a soft soul and will make a wonderful pet for a quiet household. Josie: 7yr old acts like 2 yr old) housebroken. started in obedience family moved away and dumped her likes kids, cats and other dogs ok. Needs groceries and love! 4/11/2005

Rocky: is a very handsome longhaired male Saint Bernard. The vet believes that Rocky is about three years old. Rocky is just a big ol’ puppy at heart! He must be a “southpaw” – he loves to shake hands, but he always offers his left forepaw. Rocky has now been neutered, brought current on his vaccinations, and is heartworm negative. He needs to be adopted by a family that has a yard that is securely fenced with a 6′ tall wooden fence. Rocky will be a wonderful addition to the lucky family that adopts him! 4/10/2005

Patches: 4 yr old male. Smooth coat. Came to rescue from an owner who was moving and did want to take Patches with. He is good with other dogs and kids. He has some obedience training but a formal course would not hurt him. He is mostly house trained and his foster dad is crate training him. 4/10/2005

BRUNO: Hi my name is Bruno. I am a 12 month old male rough coat saint. I weigh around 130# and am still growing. I was turned into rescue due to a change in life situation. I love my foster home but would really like a forever home. I love to play with my other doggy friends. I had to go to the doctor to get my shots and they all fell in love with me. I am quite The man you know. I am told that I have a cute personality and an adorable face. I adore kids and I love everyone I meet. I am not big on kissing but I love to get belly rubs. Playful should be my middle name. My foster mom put this thing on me today called a gentle leader, I did not like it at first but now it is Ok, she said if I want to go for walks I have to wear it, so I do. I go for lots of walks, now that she is walking me instead of me walking her. I am housetrained and crate trained. I am up to date on my shots an 4/9/2005

MAX: Hi. My name is Max. I am a 3-year old , male, rough coat Saint Bernard. I weigh around 150 lbs. My former owner turned me over to Saint Bernard Rescue because of a change in life situation. My mom says that I am very outgoing and I love to play. I am neutered and up to date on vaccines. I am on flea and heartworm prevention. I am crate trained and housetrained. I am good with other dogs and kids. I would love to stay with my brother Oscar so if you have room we can fill it with all of our saintly love. Please call if you’d like to meet me, WOOF! 4/9/2005

Cole: This very happy, energetic boy is about 1 years old. He was rescued from a high kill shelter. One of our volunteers saw him and couldn’t leave him there. He has been named an “Honorary Saint Bernard” although he is a Treeing Walker Coonhound. He is great with kids and dogs. He is okay with cats. He hasn’t quite figured them out. He is housebroken and crate trained. He is current on all of his vaccines, neutered, and micro-chipped. 4/8/2005

Gulliver: This adorable little Saint mix puppy is just what the doctor ordered! If you are looking for the cuteness of a Saint but don’t want the size or the drool than Gulliver is your man! He is 7-8 months old. He knows some commands and is crate trained. He is great with others dogs, cats, and children. He is a BIG sweetheart in such a little body. He would love to come home with you! 4/8/2005

Teddy: is 11 months old. He is very shy and will need someone with patience that will let him come to you with he is ready. He has shown he can be a very affection boy. He wants to adopt a forever person and just be with them. he is okay with other dogs. 4/8/2005

Danny Boy: this handsome guy is 3 years old. Danny was rescued from the local shelter. He gets along with other dogs and loves to lean on people! Neutered, shots, Microchip 4/6/2005

Maggie: This very sweet 5 year old was rescued from an Illinois shelter after her owners could not keep her due to allergies. She is good with other dogs, cats, and children. She was in a home with children and misses the interaction. She is thin and has minor hip dysplasia. She could use a home that will offer her unlimited TLC. 4/6/2005

Randy: 2 1/2 yr old shorthaired male. He is a very sweet, laid back guy. Excellent on a leash and loves car rides. Not sure about other dogs, cats or kids. But loves people. 4/5/2005

Barry: This 3 year old, very gorgeous, large man, came to us after his owners could no longer care for him properly. He had major knee surgery last year after his owners used him as a pony and allowed children to ride him. He has arthritis in both knees and hips. He gets around well but does walk a gait. He is a special needs Saint as he needs to be on medicine for arthritis. He loves other dogs and gets along great with children and cats. He has had such a rough life in just 3 short years. He needs a lifetime of love! He will need to be a totally indoor dog as his arthritis acts up in damp weather. Won’t you give him a second chance? 4/5/2005

Goliath: This adorable, handsome man has had a rough start in life. He was dumped on the side of the road and wandered his way into a trailer park. Here the residents did all they could to take care of him. They didn’t have room for him so he slept in a shed. He was infested with fleas and had no hair on his back. He wasted away to a mere 100 pounds. Finally they contacted rescue. That was over a year ago. We found a wonderful home for Goliath but his owners recently found they could no longer give Goliath a good life. This very lovable man is good with other dogs, cats, and children. He is 5 years old. He is looking for another chance at a happy, forever home. 4/5/2005

Mouse: this pretty girl is a 3 year old St. Bernard from Tonopah, NV. Mouse is a sweetie who gets along with cats and is good with children. She may be a bit protective of her food, so she would need to be fed separately if with other dogs. Spayed, shots, microchip 4/4/2005

Nadine: needs a home. Nadine is an 18 month old, smooth coat, spay female. She is very under weight , 97 pounds, and it is obvious that she was mishandled as a puppy. When Deannie first came into rescue, as a stray, we could not get her to respond to us with a tail wag. She definitely wanted to climb into everyone’s lap but was very afraid of doing something wrong. Now she bounds to the door as her foster moms official greeter and is ready to give kisses to all. Nadine had a horrible bladder infection and is still being treated for it at this time. When she finishes her second round of medicine she will need to have her urine checked again to make sure that the bladder infection is all cleared up. Although Deannie is very submissive to people she is dominate with other dogs. She is not dog aggressive but will herd them and nip at them to get them away from her foster mom. Once spoken too she will stop the herding and behaves herself. Due to her dominate issues rescue would prefer her to be placed in a home with no other dogs or a home that has cats and/or small dogs. Nadine is trustworthy to be left alone loose all day when her foster mom goes to work. She has had a few accidents but has been very good lately. We feel the accidents were due to the bladder infection. 4/4/2005

Libby (Liberty): Libby is a two year old, black mask, rough coat female Saint that was surrendered by her owners. Her owners had her since she was 10 weeks old where she had been raised with cats, attended obedience school, crate trained and house broken. Libby was their baby. Approximately 6 months ago Libby decided that the cats were her enemy and after several ER visits for the cats – Libby’s owners decided that they must find her a home that will give her love, care and nurturing and NO CAT RELATIVES!! Would you like to make your home Libby’s forever home? Libby has been spayed, is current on all shots, fully vaccinated and will be a WONDERFUL addition to the “right” home!! 4/3/2005

Bella: is a one year old female St. Bernard. She is house broken and was raised in an apartment. Bella would love to be in a home with a back yard and another canine playmate. Bella does need puppy training and is learning to walk (vs. pull) on a leash (gentle leader). She is excellent around children but because of her size and energy, should be in a home with children older than 2 yrs. of age. Bella gets along with other dogs and is fine around cats. Bella loves attention and gives lots of affection. 3/31/2005

Bear: 9 month old rough male. Came to rescue from a shelter in WY. Turned in because he was killing chickens. Bear has bad knees and rescue is in the process of raising the money necessary to do the surgeries. He is a wonderful, cuddly guy who loves everyone and everything. He will make a great addition to someone’s family once we get him fixed. 3/31/2005

Jakar: an in exceptionally handsome, rough coat male. He has all the exuberance of a young guy. You would never know he is 8 years old. Jakar is up to date on shots, HW & Lyme negative and loves to be groomed. Having spent most of his life outdoors, he is in need of a very special, patient family will to invest the time and work with him. He is a pleasant boy who recently lost his Saintly friends. He has done well with a female dog. He is friendly with children, but due to his size we would recommend placement with a family whose children are 10 years of older. Giant breed experience and fenced yard are preferred. 3/30/2005

HARRY #2: is one laid-back fellow! A 3-year-old roughcoat, he is neutered, housetrained, UTD on vaccinations and HW-negative. He is a good-sized boy who has spent his whole life around children over 8. He is friendly with strangers and plays well with most other dogs but has never met a cat. Two years ago Harry underwent surgery to correct hip dysplasia. He recovered completely and has no limitations. Harry would like a home with a fenced yard and slightly older kids. Previous giant-breed experience would be a plus. And if you come armed with a piece of cheese he’ll follow you to the ends of the earth. 3/30/2005

Yukon: 11 month old, long hair male. Very pretty boy and still puppy like. Likes to play fetch, good with cats and other dogs. 3/27/2005

Jo Jo: is a 7 year old neutered male. He was dropped off at the shelter when his owners felt that they just didn’t have time for him anymore. He is a very sweet and loving boy that is friendly to everyone he meets large and small. Be it animals or people he just wants to seek out their attention in a kind way. His eyes tell how kind hearted he is and how much he just wants to be loved. A local rescue group took Jo Jo in and brought him back to health. I am putting a before and after picture of him so you can see for yourself what a wonderful job the Peppertree Rescue group did getting Jo back to looking noble and beautiful once again. He was previously placed by his former rescue group but had to return when one of the other dogs in the home became jealous of him and would get aggressive with Jo Jo who simply would slink away. He has a low thyroid so he need to be on medication so his health and coat remain good. Fortunately the medicine is inexpensive . Jo’s back legs are not very strong so his new owners would have to have carpeted floors and no stairs. We hope that someone will want to love and share their life with Jo for whatever time he has left on this earth. He certainly did not deserve to end up in a shelter. 3/27/2005

Magic: is a 5-6 year old short hair female. She was found very underweight. She appears to have been used in a puppy mill farm. Now she appears to be very healthy. She and JJ were found together. Magic will have to go with JJ or to a family that will have just her. She appears to be good with kids and people. 3/27/2005

Kramer: he is 1 1/2 yrs old neutered all shots current housebroken microchipped he is great with cats and dogs and kids. could use some groceries and a good family. Would love to be given a chance to show what a good boy I am Do you have any toys???? 3/26/2005

Barry: is estimated to be one year old. He has been neutered, shots brought up to date and placed on heartworm preventative. Barry has been growing, so we’re not sure how much he currently weighs. We’re guessing him to be 110 to 115. He is a great boy that loves everyone. Barry came to us from a shelter where he was turned in by the owner’s father for chasing cars. Seems as though no one had the time for him. Do you have the time for me?? 3/26/2005

Lulu: Allow us to introduce baby Lulu. Five months old and full of enthusiasm, Lulu is a sweet little lady who loves giving puppy kisses. She’s UTD on vaccinations, HW-negative, and spayed. We were told she’s almost housetrained but, honesty, she hasn’t yet had an accident while in foster care. She plays well with other critters, both canine and feline, and loves kids of all ages. But her very favorite thing is cuddling with her humans. A fenced yard is strongly preferred. 3/26/2005

Alex: was a New York rescue saint who’s owner passed away. Alex is a very big boy weighing in at 209 pounds. We feel he would be at a good weight at 190 pounds. Alex is hyper thyroid and also has seizures but both seem to be controlled by medicine. Alex loves everything large and small, human or animal. 3/25/2005

Hoss: Hoss is an 11 month old, rough coat, slipped mask Saint Bernard. He’s still got a LOT of puppy in him and would be better suited in a family that has children to tire him out or that is very active and out going. Hoss is create trained, learning to leash walk – although he’d rather pull, and loves to play and get cuddles. Would you like to give Hoss his forever home??? 3/25/2005

Heidi: she is 8 months old spayed utd shots and worming has had puppy obedience classes housebroken crate trained totally lovable ready for a new home. 3/23/2005

Jewels: she is a very sweet energetic 6 year old full masked tri-colored female mostly black and white with some brown and is a rough coat. she loves attention and goes a long way to get your attention. she is great with kids and dogs. she has also been De-barked. 3/23/2005

Daisy: she is a very sweet 5 year old full masked brown and white rough coated female that will need special care. she loves to get attention and she is okay with other dogs. 3/23/2005

Donna: she is a 1 year old brown and white smooth coated female that loves to play. she is good with other dogs and needs to have someone who can give her some obedience training. she is a sweet puppy. 3/23/2005

Bo: is a three-year-old, 102 pound neutered male. He is housebroken and LOVES kids. Did Bo tell you how much he LOVES KIDS???? Bo was an owner turn-in due to health reasons. His elderly owner developed cancer and sold the farm where Bo was raised. Bo and the man’s grandson grew up together. Bo gets along great with other dogs – as long as they are not very small dogs (Beagle size are fine – toy breeds are probably not a good idea.) Cats, squirrels, et cetera ARE fair game and he WILL go after them. While it may be the fun of the chase, we are not sure – so NO CATS, please. If you think you can give this wonderful boy a home, Bo will return the favor with lots of love and kisses. 3/22/2005

Bear: is two years old. He and Annabell were to be a breeding pair before divorce caused them to be “surrendered” to rescue. Bear is a large boy who would benefit from an obedience class. He seems to be a good boy, but needs someone who will make him mind due to his size. Vetting and a much needed grooming is scheduled for November 9, which will be completed before adoption. Bear will need a home without small children due to his size – is your home that home?? UPDATE 2/22/2005; LOOK AT ME NOW!!! I feel so much better. I’ve put on quite a bit of weight – we’re guessing I’m now up to 140 to 150. I love people and others. 3/22/2005

Annabell: and Bear came in together. We’re told Annabell is a little over a year old. She will be brought current with her health care and spayed before leaving (Scheduled for November 9). Annabell seems to be a sweet girl, who will be a big girl when she finishes growing. Annabell and Bear were both “outside” dogs whose previous owners intended to breed them. They came into rescue as a result of divorce. Obedience class will be highly recommended. Annabell’s enthusiasm and excitement will knock over small children. Do you have the time to help Annabell be that special member in your family? UPDATE 2/22/2005; I am now 118 pounds and feel much better. Look at my new photos and see how beautiful I am. 3/22/2005

Grant: 7 month old male. Smooth coat. Came to rescue from owners who thought he would hurt the coming baby with his big feet. He is a true, blue pup and will need all forms of training. The foster home is currently crate training him and he is getting better on the house training. 3/19/2005

Dozier: is an 3 year old large rough coat Saint Bernard with a full mask. He is a handsome and stately gentleman. Dozier has a calm nature and is well behaved. He is housebroken and knows basic obedience commands. He walks on leash very well without pulling. He currently lives with kids, cats, small dogs, other saints and does well with them. He loves to shake hands, have his belly rubbed, go on car rides and walks. He is neutered, up to date on shots and is on heart worm and flea preventative. 3/18/2005

Marcy: is a two year old rough coat saint with a full mask. She and her litter mate Anna were only hours old when their mother died. They were rescued, bottled raised and were well cared for until their former owners had to surrender them, due to unfortunate circumstances. Marcy is playful, friendly and affectionate. She is housebroken, crate trained and likes other dogs and cats. She knows basic obedience commands, walks on a leash well and loves to go for rides in the car. She is spayed, micro chipped, up to date on all shots, and is on heartworm and flea preventative. Anna and Marcy make a wonderful matched pair and are devoted to each other. They have sweet temperaments, and are very well mannered with no destructive tendencies. It is preferred that they be placed together. 3/18/2005

BERNIE: Hi, my name is Bernie and I am almost 2 years old. I am a pure-bred, rough coat male Saint Bernard hoping to find my forever home. I was turned in to rescue by my family due to a change in life situation. I am used to being in a home with other large dogs. Due to my size and my lack of experience with small dogs or cats I would like him to go to a home as an only dog or with other doggie friends close to my size. I have not been highly socialized outside of my home, I just chill at the house. My foster parents recommend my new family take me to obedience training to help me feel more comfortable in social settings. I have been through a lot of changes in the past month and I can be quite reserved when I first meet new people. I get a little uncomfortable at night time, I feel I need to be the protector and will need extra time to realize that I am OK and my new family will protect me. I think I would like a patient family, one that will allow me time to settle in. I am a very big boy weighing in at approx 170 pounds. I was not raised with small children, due to my size I should not go to a home with children under 12 years old ( I might knock them over). My new family should have some large dog experience. I am housetrained, I know some basic commands; such as sit, lay, shake, and give kisses ( big wet ones ). I will not hesitate to sit IN your lap to get love. I enjoy getting my tummy rubbed as well. I have this little quirky thing I do with my water bowl, be prepared to have a towel handy. I am committed to finding a family that will love and cherish me forever and in return I will provide much love and happiness to you and yours. I am very busy but would love to start meeting people that could possibly be my new parents. With luv WOOF! 3/18/2005

OSCAR: Oscar is a 2-year old pure-bred, smooth coat Saint Bernard hoping to find his forever home. Oscar was turned in to rescue by his family due to a change in life situation. The family also turned over Oscar’s 3-year old brother Max, but currently they are in separate foster homes. Although these two pups would love to stay together, Oscar is okay finding a good home with other doggie friends. Oscar likes other dogs of all shapes and sizes. Oscar is quite shy and reserved when he first meets new people, but he settles in quite nicely and provides lots of love and affection. He will need a patient family, allowing him to come out of his shell and helping him to do so. Oscar is quite a “gentle” giant, weighing in at approximately 130#. Oscar was raised with small children and seems to be drawn to children of all ages. He is housetrained, knows some basic obedience, doesn’t pull too much on leash, and is a very mellow guy. He will often go in to his crate during the day for nap breaks, but lately he prefers his foster parent’s bed! He can be left alone for several hours without incident. He doesn’t chew, dig, or escape. Oscar has learned to use the doggie door at his foster home although sometimes he prefers that you let him in rather then having to come back in through the doggie door! Oscar is currently under the care of a veterinarian for chronic ear problems. Oscar’s ears have been evaluated by a veterinarian and there’s good news! Oscar’s ear problems are going to be fixed surgically and long term should not require any significant care other than monitoring the ears and keeping them clean. Oscar is committed to finding a family that will love and cherish him and in return will provide much love and happiness to you and yours. Oscar says he’d like to be adopted by a family with other doggie friends for him to play with, WOOF! Oscar is being fostered in Virginia Beach. 3/18/2005

Chloe: is a lovely smooth female Saint Bernard who will be a year old in April, 2005. Her owners were no longer able to keep her, so she is presently staying with a nice family who took her in till a forever home can be found. Chloe is very good with the whole family, including the children. Chloe gets along great with the male Saint Bernard that they own. She has not been spayed yet, but will be before she is adopted. Chloe’s adoptive home will need to have a fenced-in yard. 3/16/2005

Rufus: is an 11 month old, rough coat, neutered male. He is housetrained and absolutely loves people. He was put into rescue for fighting with another male saint but at the time neither were neutered. Rufus has done well with the other dogs and cats in his foster home but does show signs of aggressiveness with his rawhide bone when other dogs approach. This boy already weighs 122 pounds and has two years of growing left. Rufus is so large that it is hard to remember that he is only a puppy and still has a lot of puppy energy and antics. Rufus is showing some signs of separation anxiety so we are not able to crate him. He is such a slob when he eats. The food gets stuck in his big lips and as he walks around it falls out of his mouth. Of course being the spoiled child that he is he would never think to eat the food off the floor!!! The unfortunate news is that Rufus hips are poor. They pop in and out of place as he walks. Although he is not showing any signs of soreness or lameness his future is bleak as he will endure pain in the years to come. It breaks my heart not to be able to have him operated on but rescue just does not have that kind of money. Approximate cost would be $5000.00 to have both hips replaced. New York Rescue has to be realistic that the last time we had a saint in crisis I was only able to raise $300.00 in 3 months time. At that rate it would take rescue a little over 4 years to raise enough money for Rufus’s surgery. With that said all we can hope for is to find some kind person that is willing to keep Rufus as their pet and to know when the pain does get to the point that it is ruining his quality of life they will help him cross over the rainbow bridge. UP-DATE 2/13/2005 Rufus has seen a specialist about his hips. The news is very encouraging. His knees and elbows are in excellent condition. Although his hips are loose the specialist does not feel that he will need a hip replacement. Rufus will need to be on cosequin for the rest of his life to keep the hip area lubricated and it will be important not to let him become overweight. 3/14/2005

Murphy: Hello, My name is Murphy and I am seeking a loving forever home. I am a 12 month old (DOB 01/09/04) happy and healthy pure bred Saint. I love to play ball and guard my food bowl. I’m rather energetic and still need some basic training, so a home with children over 5 and a fenced yard would be best. I love people and other dogs. My tolerance for cats is unknown. My foster Mom and I look forward to meeting you, please bring treats. 3/13/2005

Betsy: Hello, My name is Betsy and I was rescued from death row at an Ashboro, NC shelter. I am as sweet and quiet as I am petite (80 lbs) and love to be inside snoozing on my soft doggy bed. Until coming into rescue I hadn’t been vetted, loved, fed well, or given many treats in my short life. Sometimes I enjoy a little surfing, counter surfing that is. My foster Mom is trying to teach me better manners. I like teenagers, adults, other dogs, and will tolerate cats. I am housebroken, have some leash training, my vaccinations are current, recently spayed, between 2-3 years old (Vet Est), and will be available for adoption once my heartworm treatment is complete (12/24/04). 3/13/2005

Luke: is a 14 month old (Vet Est) pure bred short haired male saint. Luke likes to play tug-o-war, devour treats, and long belly rubs. He enjoys the company of other dogs, kids, and adults. His cat tolerance is unknown. He walks well on a leash, but will wander, so a fenced yard is a must. Luke will chew on contraband (Shoes) when home alone and bored. Since entering rescue Luke has been vaccinated, checked for heart worms, is on heartworm preventative. and will be neutered this week. 3/13/2005

Joey: is a 20 month, long haired, pure bred male saint. He is an energetic happy saint. Joey loves kisses, long naps, treats, and trying to play with cats. Joey is NOT good with birds. Due to his high energy and quickness, Joey is best suited to a home with children over the age of 7. He will also need a home with a sturdy fence. Joey is completely housebroken and can be trusted with furnishings when home alone. Joey is good on a leash and knows basic commands. Joey is current on his vaccinations, neutered, and just completed his H/W treatment. 3/13/2005

Sally: 7 yr old female. Rough coat. House, crate and obedience trained (if you have cookies that is). She is great with kids and other dogs. She came to rescue after animal control picked her up as a stray. 3/12/2005

Beethoven: 5 yr old male. Smooth coat. Great big lovable guy. Came to rescue from a divorce situation. House trained, crate trained and knows most obedience. Will want to be the dominant male of the house. Can be yard and house protective. Will need an experienced owner who will be his leader and teach him right from wrong. Good with kids. 3/12/2005

Mia: 2 1/2 yr old longhaired female. Mia is a great dog. She loves people, kids, cats and other dogs. She lived with 2 other dogs and 4 cats. She loves to swim and play. Very active, and needs some leash training but minds pretty well and with the proper training would do very well. 3/11/2005

He is just a big sweet , lovable pup. Caine will make a wonderful addition to someone’s family! 3/11/2005

Bernadette: was taken to a shelter by a animal collector and WSBR got her from the shelter. She is a young female and has a half mask. She is a beautiful young ST. She gets along with other animals. She needs some work on manners as she is young. 3/10/2005

TOBY: is a Saintly senior came into Rescue following his family’s divorce. He’s a sensational guy who’s housetrained, vaccinated and HW-negative. He does have a little arthritis in his knees (but who doesn’t?). He plays well with other dogs as well as with cats. He’s friendly with strangers and loving with children. We’re working on dropping 10 pounds. (Guess he’s had a few too many Milk Bones.) This sweet fellow yearns for a family with whom he can live out the rest of his life. Oh, and he gives gentle kisses. A fenced yard is preferred but is not essential. 3/9/2005

VALENTINE: is an 11 month old rough-coat female. She weighs in at 93 lbs. & is still growing! Val is current on her shots, has been heartworm tested, & will be spayed prior to adoption. Val came to us as an “Owner Turn In” . They did not care for the way she looked. Val is housebroken & crate trained. She is good with cats. Val is also good with other dogs, but it takes her about 2 days to warm up to them, then it’s non-stop playing! Val also walks well on a leash except when she sees other dogs, then she barks & gets very excited. We believe Val just needs some basic socialization skills. She is very well mannered in the house & does not get into anything that she’s not allowed to. She loves her chewies & loves playing with her toys. Val is very intelligent. You can just look at her & see her mind at work! She does not have any obedience training, but does know “SIT” & comes when she’s called, even off leash. Val can climb a fence that has spaces in it, like a chainlink or field fence. It would be best if she went to a home with a pickett or privacy fence. Val is a super sweet girl who is a real people dog. She would make a great family addition! 3/8/2005

ECHO: is a 4-5 year old (estimated by vet) rough-coat female. She weighs in at around 90 lbs. or so. She is spayed, current on shots & has been heartworm tested. Echo is a great companion. She is calm, tolerant & friendly. Echo loves to be with people & is good with children. She has a nice moderate activity level, but she needs to be the only dog in the home. It would be best if she went to a home with a fenced yard too. Echo has not been exposed to cats, so we do not know how she would do around them. She walks well on the leash & loves to play. Echo was used as a breeding dog at a puppy mill. Now she just wants to find a loving home to call her own! 3/8/2005

SASHA: is a 12 month old rough-coat female. Right now she weighs in at around 100 lbs., but is still growing! She is current on shots, has been heartworm tested, started on flea & heartworm preventative, & will be spayed prior to adoption. Sasha seems to be doing great with the housebreaking, & she is crate trained too. She walks very well on a leash until she sees another dog, then she will pull because she loves to meet dogs. Sasha is good with other dogs, we feel she would be good with children, & cats are unknown. Sasha is energetic, loves to run and play, & is all puppy! We prefer that she go to a family with a fence, so she can release some of her built up energy in the yard. Sasha did fine when we bathed her, & she loves to ride shotgun in the car! She has been to obedience training and knows a few commands such as; “Sit”, “Stay”, & “Down”, but she could benefit from some more training. Sasha loves to play with her toys & chew her rawhides. She is a very sweet gentle girl , who loves to receive hugs & gives lots of kisses. Sasha will make a great family companion! 3/8/2005

Mia: is estimated to be two to three years old. She weighed 100 pounds when we picked her up at the shelter. She had obviously had puppies before and needs to put some weight on. Mia has been given shots and a dose of wormer, but will be seeing the vet shortly for heartworm testing, rabies and her spay. Mia is a new arrival and seems to prefer to be the only dog. She ignores the others. We’re hoping once she gets acclimated to the new situation that she may interact with others more. Mia was also microchipped before leaving the shelter. 3/7/2005

She is a quick learner and responds well to training. 3/6/2005

He is great with other animals and children over 10 years old. He is very smart and eager to learn. He walks well on a leash (pulls only a little) and he knows Sit & Laydown. Because of his age, he would benefit from obedience classes. He is NOT eager to get in the car (fearful) but once he is in, he rides great. 3/6/2005

Buffy: is a 18 month old full masked rough coat female. She was rescued from a kill shelter in Kentucky. She is housebroken, crate trained, well behaved and walks well on a leash. She is up to date on shots and on heartworm and flea preventative. She will be spayed prior to placement. 3/5/2005

Thor: is an 2 year old rough coat Saint Bernard with a full mask. He currently lives with kids, cats, small dogs, other saints and does well with them. Thor has a calm nature and is well behaved. He is current on vaccinations, heartworm and flea preventative and will be neutered prior to placement. He will make a wonderful addition to a family. 3/5/2005

Hatch: is just under 1 year old. Like his mother, Mamie, Hatch is small with a red coat and a handsome, square face. Hatch is quiet and laid-back, gentle, and fond of people, but not pushy or dominant. He would gladly be someone’s favorite pet or would fit nicely into a household with existing pets. 3/2/2005

Punkin: is a mixed breed. We think she may have some Visla in her, but it’s hard to say. Punkin is a tan-brown color, about 50 pounds. She’s about 6 years old and has had a litter at some point. She is looking for a home where she can retire peacefully, although she wouldn’t mind children or other dogs to play with now and then! 3/2/2005

Roxie: Longhair, spayed female, approx. 1 1/2 years old and very tall in size. She is a very sweet girl and it appears she gets along with strange dogs and cats. Babe: One of the foster families of the Oklahoma Saint Bernard Rescue was driving to dinner when she witnessed this poor little girl being thrown (by a man) from a moving vehicle. This poor ran her heart out, in traffic, against lights and regardless of danger TRYING to catch her owner. Our foster mom picked this girl up and took her home. She’s fed and cared for her but can’t keep her. Would you like to give this girl her a home that won’t throw her away? 2/24/2005

Lexi: is a wonderful, energetic 15-month-old (October 2003) spayed female, who would love to have a home of her own. Lexi came to us by way of a change of circumstances with her young owner. It was a very hard decision that he had to make, but felt that it would be better for her. Lexi is housebroken, crate trained and walks well on the leash. Traveling is such fun! She gets along well with others, but does have a tendency to scare smaller dogs with her rushing up to them to play when she is off leash. As far as cats go, if she sees them and they run, the chase is on. We’re not sure what she would do if she actually caught one, so we would recommend caution just to be safe. Lexi does have some manners, but being a young girl that occasionally has “selective hearing,” we would recommend an obedience class for her with her new family. By selective hearing, we mean that she thinks everything is fun and games and that she makes the rules. 2/21/2005

Tommy Lee: is estimated to be 3 years old. He is a super boy who is not overly large – 90 – 100 pounds. Tommy is neutered and current on shots and heartworm preventative. Tommy loves his humans. He does well with others, but prefers to be the only one so that he can receive your undivided attention. He loves to be brushed and going for walks. If it’s a traveling companion you’re looking for, Tommy is ready to go – car rides are fun!! Tommy knows “sit” and “down” walks well on a leash, but would love to go through a refresher obedience class with his new family. 2/21/2005

Both sisters are very submissive and will need some extra TLC to help them gain confidence. They both get along with other dogs. Dolce is very playful! We will place them separately – they will be fine in two new, loving homes. Spayed, shots, microchip 2/14/2005

She was adopted, but returned to Rescue for being an escape artist. She was adopted from me by a great family. They were in the military and expected to be able to stay until retirement in Ft. Stewart Ga. Unfortunately, War changed all that. They were transferred, had to move into base housing and give Sabrina up. She loves children and needs a few of her own. Please help her. 2/10/2005

Duchess: is a 3 year old, rough coat, spay female. She is housetrained and walks well on a leash. This poor gal has had a horrible life up until rescue took her in. She was so malnourished that her body was living off her muscle. It has taken rescue 3 months to get her up on her feet again. She is small for a saint and weighs 102 pounds. Duchess is shy with strangers but has never shown any aggression. At times she will bounce towards her foster mom with tail wagging and at other times she will put her tail between her legs, hanging her head in submission, remembering the horror of her past years before rescue. Duchess loves to crawl up on her foster mommy’s laps for snuggles and kisses. She does get along with cats and dogs but we would hope that she could find a home with only one other dog in the family. Due to her past we want her to be special and not just one of the gang. 2/9/2005

“Big Cheese Blue”: is a young male St that was surrendered by an animal collector to a shelter. He is a big young male with one blue eye and the other eye is half blue/half brown. He is beautiful! He likes cheese, we are told, and so his name. He gets along with other animals. 2/9/2005

He is great with with children (over 10yr b/c he is still in his puppyish), other dogs and cats. 2/8/2005

Barney: is a rough coat male that will be coming into rescue soon. He was found pulling a tow chain that was permanently affixed to his collar. This poor boy has obviously been tied outside all his life and will need some TLC. No-name is severely underweight and was so filthy that the people who found him had to bathe him 4 times before he was finally clean. At this time we have found that he is good with other dogs. Once in a foster home I will up-date you on his age and behaviors. UPDATE; No-name has a name now. Seeing that he was living in a barn until rescue could take him in, we decided to call him Barney. We feel that Barney is 5/6 years old. Barney has been neutered and vaccinated. He knows sit and walks well on a leash. He is in a foster home and doing well. At first we thought that Barney might only be happy being a barn dog but he is showing some signs of enjoyment staying in a house with his foster mom. The jury is still out as to what type of life he would be best suited for . He tends to follow his foster mom around all day and is showing some signs of separation anxiety when she leaves. He is doing very well with his housebreaking and has only had one accident. Although Barney is not showing any aggressiveness he is demonstrating hand shyness. He does tend to duck when you are about to pet his head. Barney is a bit stiff when getting up and down but this could be due to living outside all his life. He surprised his foster mom this morning when he decided she would be fun to play with. It was wonderful to see him jump around and wiggle with happiness. 2/7/2005

She will push her humans to the limit and, given the opportunity, will test boundaries she perceives as negotiable. Brooke is spayed, vaccinated, housetrained, and HW-negative. Alas, she wasn’t treated very well in her last home. She appears hand-shy and she cowers at raised voices, leading us to believe that she was struck and yelled at. We’re confident she can learn to trust again and are looking for a very special home for her. Brooke will be the family’s only pet, and any children should be over the age of 12. JEM: and SCOUT: Say hello to JEM and SCOUT. Daddy was a Saint; Mom was a Bluetick Coonhound. Born October 2nd, these little darlings had a very rough beginning. They and their nine littermates were dumped in a Kentucky kill shelter. At 6-1/2 weeks they traveled to Massachusetts and on arrival were ill with parvo, a horrible virus that took the lives of most of their brothers and sisters. After many days and nights in the hospital they were finally able to come home and quickly won the heart of their foster mom. They’re playful and funny and have sweet dispositions. Scout’s been spayed and Jem’s been neutered. They’re vaccinated and are ready to go on to bigger and better things. 1/24/2005

For the first time in Hyacinth’s life she was given love and attention. Unaccustomed to affection she very quickly developed separation anxiety. Now on doggy Prozac she is able to handle being alone in the comfort of her crate. Her owner can no longer keep her as she is showing signs of prey drive with cats. Hyacinth is obedient trained and a very sweet loving gal who is good with children as well as the elderly. She just needs someone to love and adore her for the rest of her life. 1/23/2005

Max: lives in West Central Illinois. He is approximately two and a half years old. His owners were only owners. They were never a family to Max as he spent his first two years on a chain without much attention. I am Max’s foster Mom and am so blessed to have him around for the Holidays. I recently lost my sister to breast cancer and spending time working with Max and socializing him with my two German Shepherds has really kept me busy. My husband is in love with him too! He is learning very quickly. The only problem we have with him is he is very frightened of stairs. He can go “up” but, not “down”. Our human society used their emergency funds to get him up to date with his shots and have him neutered. His heartworm test was negative which was awesome news. He is healthy according to the vet but, needs to gain some weight. Max is the first St. Bernard that I have had the privilege of meeting and he lives up to all the things that other people have said about the breed. He is a gentle sweet dog that just wants to be loved! If you are interested in Max or know of anyone that would like to make him a part of their family please contact me! Thanks for your time and enjoy the pictures. Max is in Macomb, Illinois! 1/17/2005

Bernice: Hi. My name is Bernice, but I prefer to be called Bernie. I am a 3-year old (4 in December), female, rough coat Saint Bernard. My foster mom says that I weigh around 120#. Although I have only been with my foster mom for a short time I am fitting in quite well. My former owner turned me over to Saint Bernard Rescue because of a change in life situation. I told my foster mom that I am known to be good with children, cats, and other dogs. I am also house trained and crate trained. I know how to sit when you tell me, but I sometimes get kind of excited about life and forget to listen. I absolutely love playing with my three lab foster brothers, they are so cool! My foster mom has fostered Saints before that were younger than me, but she says that I have more energy then most puppies she knows! I am spayed, & will be current on shots & heartworm tested prior to being adopted. My foster mom says she is looking for a nice family that can take me home and love me forever and ever. I am being fostered in Virginia Beach. Please call if you’d like to meet me, I have a pretty busy schedule, but I might be able to fit you in, WOOF! 1/17/2005

BENNY: (BIG BEN) & JENNY: are just under 2 years old rough-coat male & female siblings. They came into rescue because their owner had to go into a nursing home, & was unable to care for them anymore. Ideally we would love it if these two could be placed together, but we will separate them if need be. Big Ben weighs in at 127 lbs. & is about 30 lbs. underweight. Jenny weighs in at 93 lbs. & also needs to gain around 20 lbs. or so. They are both spayed/neutered, current on shots, have been heartworm tested, and have been started on flea & heartworm preventative. Ben & Jenny are both housebroken, & do very well in the house when left alone. They love children & get along well with other dogs. Ben gets along well with cats also, but it’s best if Jenny is not placed in a home with cats. Ben is a very sweet dog, but very cowardly also. When things scare him, his first instinct is to drop to the ground. He is very dependent on Jenny, who is much more outgoing. They will both need some good socialization & of course lots of love. Ben has been opening up more & more each day. He was really traumatized from being in the shelter. Ben is a gentle giant & does not have a mean bone in his body. He did very well with getting a bath, having his ears cleaned & nails clipped. He does not care to ride in the car & is scared of the leash, but we are working on that. Jenny on the other hand is much more outgoing & very playful. She is very sweet & wants to be loved. Jenny will sit to be petted, but basically neither of them know any commands. Jenny also has a quiet manner to her, but still has lots of puppy play left in her. Both Ben & Jenny love to frolic around in the yard & play with each other. These two would both benefit from some obedience training. They love people & sleep in the children’s bedrooms at night. We would like them to go to someone who has a fenced in yard, & preferably with someone who has children over the age of 6 years old. These two are very sweet pups & would make a great addition to someone’s family. Update 12/14/04; these two have certainly turned around from a few weeks ago! Benny is actually a very personable & lovable boy. He is a gentle giant, & doesn’t seem sad anymore. They both are beginning to play among themselves and with the other dog in the household, Annie. Benny enjoys playing with Annie, more so than jenny. They love to go outside without leashes & run and play. They love to jump in the car & go for a ride too. Benny & jenny are also getting much better on the leash now. Things are not so frightening to them anymore. Benny & jenny are very easy house pets and have good manners, except they do sleep on the sofa at night! We believe that we can separate them, as long as they go to a home with another dog. Are you this home? 1/17/2005

INDIA: is a rough-coat 4 year old (estimated by vet). She weighs in at 100 lbs. India is spayed & current on shots. She is also heartworm negative. India came to us after two Good Samaritans saw her getting dumped out of a car at a gas station in Illinois. These two life-savers loved India but were unable to keep her themselves so they brought her to the League. India arrived with what is believed to be large burn areas around her neck and hind leg. These areas have been treated and are now growing in hair. We may never know the horror India endured but we do know that she doesn’t hold it against anyone. India is a sweet tempered girl that has a typical St. Bernard personality and does not drool as much. She would do best in a home with out children under the age of 5. She gets along with some dogs but does not get along well with cats. If you have room in your home for this large girl, please contact us immediately! 1/1/2005
