Charlie: We have been over two weeks getting this dog flown to Anchorage. He was originally flown from Kaktovik to Barrow, to the Vet there. Kaktovik is on the northern border of the Yukon Territory and Alaska. Barrow is on the North Slope of Alaska. Details we received were a little sketchy, but he is a neutered male. He was all dirty and matted, so the Vet in Barrow cleaned him up and shaved all his hair. He is Long haired, even though he doesn’t look like it right now. He weighs 120 pounds. He is between 2 and 4 years old, and has had no obedience training. He has been an outside dog. He is very gentle and laid back, and he rolled over and let them shave his belly without a whimper. He also let me cut his nails without any problem. Turns out he *is* housetrained. He has a wonderful saintly temperament, and gets along with our dogs, family, and grandkids very well. The dogs all slept together last night, without a peep. He is not leash trained, but is a willing learner and very eager to please. This rescue personifies the biggest problem we have in Alaska with getting dogs rescued, and that is transportation. Without many roads in a state 2-1/2 times larger than Texas, and the ones we have are usually dirt trails, this boy had to fly a long ways to get here. In looking at your map, you will not see many drivable roads north of Fairbanks. His front legs are a little crooked, and he has double dew claws. His face is a bit like a bull dog, but all in all, he is one beautiful boy and a joy to have in the house! 12/31/2004

MADDIE: Along with her litter-sister, Kyra, 14-month-old smoothcoat Maddie came into Rescue when her family hit a financial bump in the road. She’s spayed, housetrained, and vaccinated, and will be HW-tested shortly. Currently at that gawky adolescent stage, Maddie could use an extra few pounds to fill out. She’s good with most other dogs and is playful with cats. She’s been with children as young as 18 months and is quite the cuddle-bug. Maddie would like a yard with a six-foot fence. Ideally we would like to try to place the sisters together. 12/30/2004

Sir Lancelot: is an older dog, possibly 4 to 6 years of age. He has perfect manners and is an absolute gentleman on lead, walking at heel without needing to be told. Like Punkin, Lance is looking for a nice home to live out his days, and nice children would be the center of his life. 12/29/2004

Emily: is a 2yo spayed female rough coat. She is very sweet and a bit shy. She is very thin and needs someone to love her and help her get her weight and confidence back up. 12/28/2004

Sebastian: Hi I am a 7 month old altered male. I am a rough coat who is approx 80 lbs. I am very lovable and get along well with others. I was dumped at a store very malnourished and basically starving. Because of this I have some food issues with other dogs. We believe this behavior can be trained out with the right home. Sebastian gets along well with older children- we would prefer to place him in a family with children over 6, no toddlers please. He is all pup and loves to play. He is already housebroken and is very well mannered in the house. Would you be the right home for me? Contact Trina Souza 757-488-5772 12/23/2004

Tonka: What a great boy this is!!! Tonka is a 3 year old smooth coat. He is great with other dogs, cats, and children. He is on the XL size but doesn’t realize he is big. He is just a BIG baby. He loves to walk himself on a leash and kiss on you all day. He is just a BIG lover! 12/20/2004

Dolly: This beautiful 2 year old came to us after her owners’ fell on hard times and could no longer care for her. She is great with children, other dogs, and cats. She is a BIG sweetheart that loves a good belly rub and yummy treats. Won’t you give her a second chance? 12/20/2004

CLYDE: is a 7 month old shorthair male pup. As a puppy, Clyde is still learning and will need ongoing training and patience! He is a bit more laid back and as you can see, he loves posing for pictures. He listens well and he is learning some basic commands. Clyde LOVES the pool (he catches splashes with his mouth). He is very sweet and you can just fall in love with his face. He knows to leave the cats alone. Good with other dogs. He is catching on quickly to housetraining and is good with kids! Clyde came in with his sister, Bonnie and they are bonded with each other. They will only be adopted out together. 12/20/2004

Ottis: is a 16 month old neutered male that gets along with dogs and cats. His owners have moved and can no longer keep him. Ottis is very well behaved. He loves being groomed and amusing himself with his basket of toys. 12/20/2004

Hank: is a 1.5 yo neutered male rough coat. He’s very friendly and all puppy. His owner decided to move and forgot to pack the dog. 12/20/2004

Oscar: is playful and craves attention with all his might. he loves to eat. he is a splash coat two year old. he is a beautiful dog with truckloads of energy. 12/20/2004

C.J: is a 2 1/2 year old spay female. She is fine boned and small for a saint bernard. She only weighs 80 pounds but is at a good weight for her size. She enjoys cars rides and long walks. C.J. gets along well with other dogs but is not good with cats. She definitely is a kissy face type of gal that wags her whole body with excitement. Due to her high energy she may not be good with young children as she could unintentionally hurt them by knocking them down. She seems to be very healthy other than the fact that her left eye does not tear. She will need to have medicine put into her eye for the rest of her life. The cost would be about $43.00 every two months. 12/20/2004

KYRA: Littermate to Maddie, Kyra is 14 months old, smoothcoat, spayed, housetrained, and vaccinated. Like her sister, she will be HW-tested shortly. Though she is the bigger of the two girls, Kyra, too, could stand to gain a few pounds. Kyra appears to be the “pushier” sister. She gets along with submissive dogs and is reported to be quite curious about cats. She was raised with children though we’d prefer older children as Kyra has lots of enthusiasm. She and Maddie would benefit from some obedience work as they both pull on leash and aren’t always consistent on commands. A fenced yard is essential and preference will be given to the applicant who would like to adopt both Kyra and Maddie. 12/18/2004

Daisy: 2 1/2 year old rough coated female. Very sweet. Turned into rescue because she was to big for toddlers. Needs obedience training. She is great with other dogs and older kids who like to play. Loves to get belly rubs and be brushed. Definitely thinks she is a lap dog. Likes to play chase with toys. 12/18/2004

Princess: What a lover this 7 year old smooth coat beauty is!! Princess came to us after her owners’ fell on hard times and could no longer care for her. She is good with children, other dogs, and cats. She is quite spunky for her age, out playing even the youngest ones! She is such a nice girl and would love to find a forever home to live out her “golden years”. 12/16/2004

Molly: she is 4yrs old housebroke utd spayed and basic obedience. 12/15/2004

Hooper: 10 month old rough male. Came to rescue from a shelter. Was picked up as a stray. He is very skinny but putting on weight now that he is getting fed on a regular basis. Hooper is great with everyone and everything. He is a definite lover. 12/12/2004

Emmy: 3 yr. old S/H bitch, spayed, UTD on shots, HW neg. Very sweet dog, just wants to be someone’s companion. Good with kids, cats and other dogs. Likes to be inside and is Housebroken. 12/10/2004

Dublin: dear 4 year old male St. Bernard who lost his home when his owner went into Assisted Living. Dublin is a loving boy who gets along with other dogs and loves attention from people. He is waiting for a new, loving home. Neutered, shots, microchip. 12/9/2004

Duke: This gorgeous, very lovable 2 year old boy, came to us from a Central Illinois shelter after his owners gave him up because they didn’t have time for him. He is great with other dogs, cats, and children. He loves belly rubs and car rides. He loves to romp and play. If you are looking for the love of your life, Duke may be your man! 12/6/2004

CHOPPER: This handsome three-year-old roughcoat has had a tough life. An owner-surrender, Chopper came into Rescue badly in need of veterinary care. We vaccinated him, dewormed him, and treated his infected ears. He had hot spots, which are not uncommon in Saints. We cured them. He needed eye surgery. We did it. He tested positive for heartworm. We treated that, too. He was matted and dirty. We had him groomed. Now he’s ready to choose a family. He gets along with submissive dogs. According to his previous owner he also plays well with cats (though we don’t currently have a “test cat” on the premises to confirm that). He’s also friendly with children but we would recommend placement with a family whose kids are 10 or over as Chopper is best described as a bull in a china shop. A fenced yard is a must. The successful applicant will have large or giant breed experience and will commit to completing a formal obedience course with the big lug. 12/6/2004

MICKEY: His name is officially Miracle but we’re calling him Mickey. He’s a littermate to Kallie and is 11 months old. He is vaccinated but not yet HW-tested. Like his sister he will be altered once he has put on a few pounds. Mickey gets along with dogs he already knows but is unknown with new dogs. We’re told he’s fine with cats and children. (We’d recommend kids over 8 because he’s a bundle of energy.) Initially a bit stand-offish when first meeting new people, Mickey quickly warms up. He’s a good boy who will do well with a family willing to continue the obedience training he has just begun. A fenced yard is necessary. 12/6/2004

Diesel: is an active, friendly 18/20 month old neutered, long-haired male. He is up to date on shots. An owner surrender, he is in need of work on leash, as well as general obedience work. 12/6/2004

Sara: Sara is an 18 month to 2 year old, full mask, rough coated Saint Bernard. She is extremely hand shy and appears to have taken some abuse in her passed life. Sara has the ‘classic’ block head of a Saint Bernard and if drool isn’t your cup of tea then she’s not the dog for you. She has very long jowls/flews and does drool quite heavily. She’s loving (once she warms up to you) and totally housebroken. Would you like to give Sara here forever home. 12/6/2004

Aurora: is a 2 year old lady who was found wandering the streets. She has had at least 1 litter of puppies in her life but is now spayed. She is living in a foster home with other dogs, cats and children and gets along well with everyone. She is not a very big girl and is seriously underweight but we are fixing that. She will probably get to about 120 pounds now that she has a regular diet of good food. We are not sure but we think that Aurora may have a hearing problem, the vet is working to either confirm if she does or doesn’t. An update will be posted as soon as we have a definitive answer. Her apparent lack of hearing does not impair her in any way. It would also appear that some unkind human has had Aurora debarked as she only makes very soft “coughing” sounds instead of a real bark. 12/6/2004

Hoss: is a neuter male weighing in at 140 pounds. He is a very sweet and gentle soul that is showing some signs of separation anxiety. He will break out of the strongest crate you can find so crating him is not an option. The good news though is Hoss is house trained. He is very playful and seems to get along well with other dogs and cats. Hoss was in a temporary placement when the knuckle head decided that the poodle looked like a wonderful stuff toy. He picked him up in his mouth and was playing with him when everyone around him went crazy. Poor Hoss couldn’t understand what the big hubbla was over. The poodle wasn’t hurt and He was only playing with it so what was all the fuss about??!! After all he let the cats paw at his tail and face and he didn’t get all excited over that so why should everyone get so worked up over him having a little playtime with the poodle. Hoss walks well on a leash but will try to chase an occasional squirrel so background in obedient training is advised. 12/5/2004

Chloe: Chloe is a 8 month old smooth coat female with a full mask. She weights over 100 lbs now and will be a big girl. She is crate trained and housetrained. She gets along well with other dogs and children. She doesn’t mind cats or small animals either. She is current on all shots and is on heartworm and flea preventative. She will be spayed prior to placement. She is a big sweet playful puppy that needs a family of her own. 12/5/2004

Shelby: Shelby is a 2 year-old smooth coat female. She is gentle, well mannered, house trained and knows basic obedience commands. Shelby gets along well with dogs, cats and children and prefers to stay indoors with people. She is leash trained and loves to go on walks and car rides. She is current on vaccinations, heart worm and flea preventative, and will be spayed prior to placement. 12/5/2004

Nina: Nina is a 2 year old full masked rough coat female. She is housebroken, crate trained, well behaved and walks well on a leash. Nina is friendly, outgoing and playful. She will be a great companion. 12/5/2004

Brutus: Brutus is large 2 year old full masked, smooth coat Saint Bernard. His family surrendered him because he was was scratching on the back door attempting to get inside to a small breed dog that was in heat. He is a calm and gentle dog who likes everyone and gets along well with kids, cats and dogs. He is housebroken but needs some work with leash training. He will be neutered prior to placement, is up to date on shots and is on heart worm and flea preventative. 12/5/2004

Abbey: Abbey is a 2 year old rough coat Saint Bernard with a full mask. She is housebroken and gets along with other dogs, cats and children. She is leash and crate trained. She is spayed, micro-chipped and is current on vaccinations, heartworm and flea preventative. Would you like to give this sweet girl a forever home? 12/5/2004

Sheeba will counter surf, so we suggest not leaving anything yummy on the counter! She walks well on the leash & rides great in the car. Sheeba also does well with children. She is also housebroken. Sheeba will make a great family addition! 12/3/2004

Annie is a little on the thin side, but has been eating like a horse since we’ve gotten her. Annie loves everyone & everything! She will make a wonderful addition to someone’s family! 12/3/2004

Toto: 2 year old male. Rough coat. Good boy who needs a ton of training. Came to rescue after he was picked up as a stray by animal control. He is a dominant male who would do best in the lead male position. He is good with the other dogs in his foster home and does well with older kids. He is a little too rowdy for younger kids. He is starting house training, crate training and basic obedience. Toto loves to get in your lap and loves all forms of attention. He is stubborn and obnoxious on occasion and would do best with an experienced Saint owner. 12/2/2004

Princess Di: sweet, loving and playful, this 3 year old female St. Bernard lost her home when her owners moved and the landlord would not let her stay. Princess Di is in great physical condition because she accompanied the previous owner on morning jogs. She is a short girl but she is very strong and enjoys activity. Princess Di gets along with other dogs and has lived in a home with children. She is afraid of thunder and would need some extra TLC during storms. Spayed, shots, microchip. 11/28/2004

Sam: He was dumped at someone’s house who had other St’s but they couldn’t keep him. He was neutered, treated for heartworm, updated on his shots and microchipped. He is very laid back, shy at first with other animals, but is now playing with his foster sisters. He walks on leash, follows his foster mom around and has learned to sit, which makes his foster mom very happy. He wants to please. He would make a wonderful addition to any family. 11/25/2004

Sage: This precious girl was rescued from a bad situation in KY. She is very thin and in need of TLC. She is just a sweetheart to everyone and everything. She is 2 years old. She loves belly rubs and her ears scratched. She is great with kids, cats, and other dogs. Won’t you give her the second chance she deserves??? 11/23/2004

Sammie: is a lovely female Saint Bernard. She is truly a love! Sammie was found wandering on a country road near Pearland, Texas. She had been shaved down fairly recently, but no one ever came to claim her. Sammie is one of the sweetest Saints I’ve ever met. Approximately 3 years old, she walks well on a leash, and isn’t a barker/jumper/or digger. She’s very smart, and I think in her prior life she might have been a housedog – when I let her out of her kennel she runs right to the front door. Sammie just needs someone to love. She tested mildly positive for heartworms, so she will be adopted out with a six month supply of Heartguard. (My vet won’t put dogs through the full heartworm treatment when they are low-antigen positive. He feels it’s inhumane.) Sammie is truly a wonderful girl! 11/22/2004

Patches: is an adorable 11-month old female Saint. Patches was turned over to Rescue when her owners moved to a new apartment and could not afford the pet security deposit. Frankie is very large for a female – she weighs about 160 pounds. She has a gorgeous, deep mahogany colored coat. Frankie needs to be adopted by a family that doesn’t have any other dogs or cats. She will be a wonderful addition to the lucky family that adopts her! 11/22/2004

Nonie: 4 1/2 year old female. Rough coat. Very sweet and submissive with humans. Good with other dogs but ignores them as they are beneath her. She is crate trained and house trained but will need obedience training. She came to rescue from New Mexico. She was picked up as a stray. 11/20/2004

Mollie: is a 5 year old rough coated female. She is housebroken, well mannered and walks well on leash. Mollie loves other dogs and people, but likes to chase cats. Angel: Angel is a four month old female full masked Saint Bernard puppy. She was rescued from a high kill shelter in Tennessee. She was emaciated but is gaining weight and thriving in her foster home. Angel will be a small framed and will not grow to the standard size for a Saint Bernard. She is very gentle and sweet natured. She loves to play with children, especially the little girls she lives with. She is gets along well with other animals, is crate trained and leash trained. She is current on vaccinations, heartworm and flea preventative, and will be spayed prior to placement. This puppy is ready to go to her forever home. Update; Angel has more than doubled in size in just three weeks now that she is being fed regularly. She looks healthy and happy now and all she needs is a family of her own. BERNIE: has been adopted as well. He is a puppy that we brought into rescue several months ago and had a bad case of viral pneumonia which he needed to be nursed through. Bernie is now about 9 months old and has his very own family (Mom and Dad along with 2 children of his own and 3 cats) to join in the fun with! He has fit in very well and is now working on training his new family to cater to his every desire! After spending 3-4 months in sick bay at the Saintuary with Darice’s daily care, he is finally able to begin his life being a very spoiled family dog! 11/18/2004

Sadie does well on leash and is beginning formal obedience classes. Properly introduced, Sadie gets along with most male dogs and cats. Sadie has a big bark and is wary of stranger at first, but will make friends quickly. At 134 pounds she is a large girl and would not be appropriate for a family with young children. A Saint experienced, loving, quiet household would be preferred. 11/17/2004

KALLIE: Kallie is 11 months old and cute as a bug. Along with her brother, Micky, she was an owner-surrender. Kallie is good with most other dogs and is reported to “play nice” with cats. She is housetrained, UTD on vaccinations, and will soon be HW-tested. She is quite thin and we’re working on bulking her up before scheduling her to be spayed. Kallie’s quite willing to please. The successful applicant will be willing to help her hone her obedience skills. Kallie is a sweet, lovable little girl who will do best in a home with children over 8 and a fenced back yard. 11/15/2004

Bernie: However he was very sick and we couldn’t adopt him out. Well, He is all better and has gone to his forever home. Bernie is a 9 mo old male saint just as sweet as sweet can be. 11/15/2004

Misty: is a 2-3 year old Saint Bernard. She is very friendly and smart. She has been spayed and is finally gaining weight. She still could use about twenty more pounds. She loves to play with other large dogs (she’s never been with small ones). She loves kids. She came from a neglected situation and really appreciates attention. She is scared to be inside but loves it outside. Misty has beautiful markings and a full dark mask. She is a rough coat. With more TLC she will be a great family companion. 11/14/2004

Bailey: is an 1 1/2 year old female who is looking for the right forever home. She is just a sweetheart with people and loves any and all attention that she can get! Because Bailey was an only puppy and was never taught sibling socialization, her social skills with other dogs is quite guarded. She seems to do best with another dog of her own size and CAN NOT go home with small dogs as she doesn’t know how to interact with them. Bailey would probably do best in a home where she can be the only dog or only have one other larger dog in the family. She will require some training so that her behavior becomes more desirable and is very willing to learn. 11/13/2004

Maverick: Is a young puppy with a lot of energy. A very loving dog always wants to touch or lean on you. Loves kids, walks and to go bye-bye. He has not been around cats so we don’t know his opinion of them. Maverick is crate trained and approximately 5 months old. 11/13/2004

Shawnee: Is a two year old full masked, rough coat male Saint Bernard. He’s got a wonderful personality, gets along with all animals and has stolen the hearts of all that meet him. Shawnee came from a neglect situation and needs to put on a LOT of weight. He currently only weighs 86.5 but will start to gain weight now that he’s receiving food as desired, instead of when it’s convenient. 11/13/2004

BEAUFORD: is a 2 year old (estimated by vet ) rough-coat male. He weighs in at around 140 lbs., & still needs to fill out some more! Beauford seems to be good with other dogs & loves people! Cats are unknown. Beauford is neutered, current on all shots, & has been heartworm tested. Since Beauford came in as a stray, we prefer him to go to a family with a fenced yard. Beauford is all personality & loves to play and run. With some obedience training & loving care, Beauford will make a wonderful family companion. 11/12/2004

ZOE: is a 22 month old rough-coat female. She weighs in at around 120 lbs., & still needs to fill out some more! Zoe is spayed, current on shots, has been heartworm tested, and is on flea & heartworm preventative. Zoe just came into rescue & is starving for attention! She seems to be a very pleasant girl, with lots of energy. Zoe loves to run & play. We took her to a big rescue event, & she was great with dogs of all sizes and people of all sizes too! Zoe seems to be fine with cats, as long as they do not run! Rule of thumb is “If it runs, we’ll chase it!” Zoe does pull some on the lead when she goes for walks at first, then she tends to slack off. Zoe seems to be housebroken also. She does seem to need some house manners. She feels that it is okay to pounce up on the sofa, no matter who is already sitting there! Zoe is full of personality & will make a great companion for some family! 11/12/2004

Cassie: 2-3 yr old longhaired female. Cassie was a pregnant stray who came in with JJ. Unfortunately she lost all her puppies but she’s a very sweet girl who just loves belly rubs and being petted. She’s not very good on a leash either, but again with some training and patience will do fine. She loves everyone and is starving for attention. 11/10/2004

Heidi: 2 yr old female. Rough coat. Came to rescue because her owners could not handle her and she made a bad outside only dog. She will need to have all forms of training but she is house trained and crate trained. She is good with other dogs and kids but will do best in a home where she can be the dominant female dog. 11/9/2004

Brandy: 2 yr old rough female. Came to rescue after her second family dumped her in the shelter. She is a high energy Saint. Knows most of her obedience but could use formal training and additional leash training. Does well with kids and the other dogs in the foster home. Wants to be the dominant female. Loves to go for car rides and wants attention all the time. 11/9/2004

Tinkerbell: 3 yr old female. Tinkerbell is a rough coat. She is good with kids and other dogs but in typical female fashion, wants to be the top female dog in the home. She loves to do whatever you are doing. She is house trained, crate trained and has some obedience. Tinkerbell is very smart and eager to please so she will train up quickly. 11/9/2004

Sera: Seraphim is a 12 month old female looking for an angel to adopt her. She is a smooth coat and has a full mask. She will be large. She’s sweet with people and other dogs. Sera is deaf. Prefer a home with another dog to pal around with and/or willing to train hand signals. Available after 11/15. 11/8/2004

Herk: this sweet guy is a 3 year old male St. Bernard we rescued from the local shelter. He is a gentle boy who gets along with other dogs and is a loving, loyal friend who will make a wonderful addition to a caring family. Neutered, shots, microchip. 11/8/2004

Scotch: is a 4-5 year old Saint mix. He is very large weighing in at 200lbs or more. He has the body structure of a Saint Bernard, but is a beautiful gold color. He loves to play with other large dogs and children. He really needs a fenced in yard as his size can really intimidate those who don’t know him. He does not jump up on you, but will lean into you for attention. He is not well mannered on a leash. Scotch has an 8X16′ kennel that will go to his new home as he must be fed alone. He is food aggressive to other animals only. He has never shown aggression toward people. My family rescued him from our local animal shelter. He has been neutered and has current rabies vaccine. Scotch is a very big lovable baby and needs attention. 11/6/2004

Pickles: is a very small, one year old smooth coat female. She is just the sweetest dog! She gets along really well with other dogs of all sizes and our resident cat. Eager to please, she is housebroken and very calm although all she wants is love! Pickles is fast becoming used to being a house dog. If you have a lot of love to give this could be the dog for you. 11/3/2004

NEMO: This little longhaired cutie is 16 month old Nemo. He’s looking for a family to call his own. Neutered, housetrained, vaccinated and HW-negative, he’s an affectionate youngster who thinks that leashes are things a dog uses to tug on his humans but he’s a smart boy and he’ll quickly pick up leash manners and basic obedience. Nemo would like to be the family’s only dog (and he’s not too crazy about cats). He’s an enthusiastic fellow who gets real excited when his humans come home. He will need a fenced yard, and children over 10 years old. 11/3/2004

Orin: is 9 months old and full of energy. He has all his shots, is neutered and heartworm free. He loves people and other dogs. 11/2/2004

Princess: is 7 years old and qualifies for our senior discount. Please ask. She is spayed, has all her shots, is great with kids and was raised with cats. She wants to be in your home tonight. 11/2/2004

Duke: My name is Duke and I am a neutered 6 month old male. I am current on my vaccines and am on heartworm preventative. I am very silly. Believe it or not I was dumped at animal control by the lady who bred me. I was the last of the litter and she did not want me. I am very lovable and highly treat motivated. I just learned how to sit and shake in 1 week. I guess that means I am pretty smart too. I weigh about 77 lbs now and still have a lot of growing to do. 11/2/2004

Yukon: is an 18 month old rough coat. He gets along well with other dogs and loves to play in the park. He is a smaller Saint who weighs around 100 lbs. We don’t know if he likes cats or not. He has had all his shots and is in great shape. He just needs to find his forever home. If you would like to live with Yukon, he would love to share a house with you. 11/1/2004

HELGA: Six months old, with a face full of freckles, little Helga is a bundle of love. All she wants to do is cuddle and give kisses. She’s a roughcoat, UTD on vaccinations and HW-negative. She will be spayed on October 7th and then will be ready to interview prospective families. A bit on the thin side, she could stand to gain a few pounds so she can grow into her long legs. Helga plays well with other dogs and is reported to be okay with cats. She’ll be fine with children. Though she hasn’t yet had obedience training she is anxious to please and will learn quickly. A fenced yard is preferred. 11/1/2004

Riley: Riley is a 4 year old rough coat lady. She gets along with other dogs, cats and children. She is very much an indoor dog and only goes outside when necessary. This mild mannered, well adjusted lady just wants to be near people. Riley has been spayed and is up to date on all shots. She is ready to go to her new forever home right now. 10/31/2004

Bunny: Bunny is a young female about 2 who was dumped by her previous owner and was found by a lady who brought her to us. She is a very very shy dog who gives the impression of having been abused in the past. She is very very “hand shy” and any fast hand motion will cause her to cower down. Once she is confident with a new person she is very gentle and friendly. She craves affection and just loves to be with people she trusts. She gets along well with other large dogs but did kill a rabbit in her foster home so she cannot go to a home with small animals or small dogs. She will be spayed in the next few days and will be given her shots. She has no obvious health problems. She does prefer to be indoors and is housebroken. Bunny needs a home where she will not be alone fo any length of time and owners who are prepared to work with her to build her confidence. 10/31/2004

Heidi: has been with rescue nearly a year. She’s a smooth-coated female nearing her second birthday. She has a rich brown mantle with white legs and underbelly. Heidi is very devoted to her people, but needs other Saint Bernards in her life. A home with two or three other dogs would be just super. Kids would be fun, too. 10/28/2004

Heidi: loves people and tends to select a single person to bestow all of her love upon. She ought to go to a home with other dogs where she can be a member of a pack. 10/28/2004

SASSY: is a beautiful 6 year old (estimated by vet) rough-coat female. She weighs in at around 110 lbs. Sassy is spayed, current on shots, has been heartworm tested, and started on her flea & heartworm preventative. Sassy is housebroken & has excellent house manners. She is great with kids & cats. Sassy is good with some dogs, but not all. Sassy is not good with livestock . She prefers to be around smaller dogs, because they are not a threat to her. Sassy LOVES to spend time with her family. She is a very easy-going, laid back girl. Sassy does not wander at all, & is very content to be home with her family. She is also an attention hound! She cannot get enough of it! Sassy does know some commands like; “Sit”, “Come”, & “Down”. She also comes when her name is called. Though Sassy is estimated to be 6 years old, she can be spunky at times, & is very young at heart! If you are the family for Sassy, please contact us! 10/26/2004

Jedi: 8 month old male. Rough coat. Very good boy. Came to rescue after his owners surrendered him to the shelter for killing chickens. He is good with other dogs and kids but will need training. He loves to go for rides in the car. 10/26/2004

Shrek: and Fiona: Aged three and four were owner turn in’s as a pair. They have always been together. Both long hair beautiful dogs. Sweet temperament. First preference given to a home who will open their hearts to both dogs. 10/25/2004

Duchess: Duchess is a 3-year-old full masked, rough coat Saint Bernard. She is small, weighting about 90 pounds and has the sweetest disposition. She likes children, cats and other dogs. She is crate trained and housebroken. She is current on vaccinations, heartworm and flea preventative. Duchess and her brother were picked up as strays, and her owner choose to leave both dogs in a kill shelter to face euthanasia. She is a wonderful dog and deserves to have a new family she can call her own. 10/21/2004

Rosie: Rosie is an 8-year-old full masked rough coated lady. She is housebroken; crate and leash trained, and gets along well with other animals including “Roos” and children. She is spayed, current on vaccinations, heartworm and flea preventative. Her owner was in the military and surrendered Rosie to go overseas. Would you like to give this sweet girl a forever home? 10/21/2004

HUMPHREY: is a 3 year ( estimated by vet ) old rough-coat male. He weighs in at around 121 lbs., but could use to gain around 30 lbs. or so. Humphrey is neutered, current on shots, has been heartworm tested, & is micro-chipped too. This boy is a big lug who loves attention. He gets along well with dogs of all sizes. Humphrey rides great in the car, walks well on the leash & knows a few commands like; “Sit”, “Down” and “Stay”. This boy is housebroken & is very playful! 10/19/2004

Jake: A smooth coat St. Bernard….approximately 5 months of age. Nearly 45 lbs of pure love…remember, I am still growing. I like to run around outdoors, play with other dogs well I love people to scratch my head and rub my belly. Jake is fully vaccinated, heartworm negative and will be spayed prior to placement. Jake needs a place so he can run and play during the day But, would enjoy sleeping at your feet at night. 10/19/2004

Bailey: is a 4 year old neutered male. This poor boy was adopted 1 year ago this month and brought back into rescue due to the fact that he was peeing in the house. We have not had any problems with Bailey in rescue but we do keep him crated when we are not at home and in the evening when we are all sleeping. His former adopter believes that Bailey would have accidents because he didn’t like to be at home alone. Bailey walks well on a leash and gets along with dogs and cats. He is really a very sweet boy so if you are a stay at home person or retired Bailey would be just the companion you are looking for. If you work it would be advised that Bailey be kept in a crate in your absence. UPDATE; Bailey hates the crate but the good news is he is not having any accidents in the house. He just needed to have someone home with him most of the day so a stay at home mom or a retired person would suit Bailey just fine. Also Bailey’s hips are not good so he lays around a lot. 10/18/2004

Tyler: This nice boy was rescued from an Illinois shelter after his owners just didn’t want him anymore. He was left outside of the shelter. He is about 18 months old. He is shy but warms up quickly. He is good with other dogs, cats, and children. Won’t you give him a second chance at a happy life? 10/18/2004

LUCKYBOY: is a 12 month old (estimated by vet) rough-coat male. He weighs in at 120 lbs. & is still growing!!!! Luckyboy is neutered, current on all shots, has been heartworm tested, and is on flea & heartworm preventative. Luckyboy is housebroken, is good with other dogs, & is also good with cats. He loves to go for car rides, & enjoys riding shotgun, but will also lay down in the backseat too. Luckyboy needs some work on the leash. He pulls some & likes to walk the zig zag pattern. Luckyboy is highly treat motivated, so he should do very well with some obedience training. As of right now he only knows the command “Sit”. Luckyboy just loves to please his owner! He is a very sweet boy who loves to receive belly rubs too. Luckyboy is a very happy, go lucky, big goofy pup, who loves to play with his chew toys & chase the ball around. Luckyboy came to us as a stray, in horrible condition. He was covered in blood & open sores, & was very underweight. He had a terrible skin infection, ear infection & mange. If we would have known who owned him, we would have prosecuted them for neglect. Luckyboy has come thru like a trooper from day1. He has had to be on antibiotics daily, & also had to be dipped weekly for his mange. Everyone at our vet’s office has fallen in love with him! Luckyboy is now a beautiful , healthy, happy pup waiting for the right family to adopt him! 10/15/2004

Zach: This very handsome 1 year old was rescued from an Illinois shelter after his owners left him tied out in the backyard to be ignored. He is great with other dogs, cats, and older children. He could use obedience training as he was never taught any manners. His foster mom is doing a great job of starting the job. He would love a second chance at a wonderful forever home! 10/15/2004

JAKE: is a 3 year old (estimated by vet) smooth-coat male. He weighs in at around 100 lbs., but still needs to gain another 20 lbs. or so. Jake is neutered, current on shots, has been heartworm tested, and started on flea & heartworm preventative. He is also housebroken. Jake came to us as a neglect case. He only weighed in at 66 lbs. & was chained to a tree. Jake has flourished into a very happy, sweet boy! Jake loves everyone! He is good with other dogs, cats & children (he’s been around kids 5 years & older). Jake walks well on a leash & rides very good in a car. He is a little timid, has a laid back attitude, & is very mild mannered. Jake absolutely loves attention & will lean against you to get some. Jake acts very puppyish. He will chew on anything that is within his reach, if it is lying around. Jake loves to run & play, & has recently discovered toys! So he loves to play with all his doggie toys! If there are other dogs in the house, he does like to hoard his bones & toys to himself! He hasn’t learned to share with them yet. I guess it is because he has never had them before. Jake does know how to “Sit” on command, & is a quick learner. Jake will make a great companion for anyone! 10/14/2004

MAGGIE: is a 1-2 year old Saint Bernard who was rescued from a shelter in Maryland. Maggie was a stray, so we have no history on her but from what we can tell, she probably belonged to someone as she is very attentive to people. She is on heartworm and flea preventative and up to date on her shots. From what we have determined, Maggie prefers to be the queen of her castle, and doesn’t particularly like to share her master with other dogs. However as picky as she is, we have seen her play with another male dog. She would prefer to have her owner all to herself though. Maggie is very loving, full of playfulness and aims to please. She listens to people quite well, knows how to sit on command, and walks fairly well on a training collar. Maggie is house trained and likes to be inside, close to her people when they are home. She loves a good brushing, she just sits and soaks up the attention. She also likes to slip her master a kiss now and then just to let them know how much she cares. Maggie is on the small side for a Saint with a little growing left to do. Currently she is 85# and her target weight is likely around 100#. Maggie has an enormous amount of potential and wants nothing more than to love, be loved and please her master. As stated before she has gotten along with another male dog, but then tends to challenge other dogs and reacts sometimes without provocation. We do believe Maggie will probably do best as an only dog, but the behavior with other dogs can and should be worked with. A lot of her behavior is probably due to the instability in her life. We are also hoping that after she is spayed, she will lose some of her dominant traits. She needs a strong yet gentle owner with prior dog experience that will continue her training. In return, Maggie will provide a lifetime of love, devotion and happiness to her new family if only given the chance. Despite her troubles with other dogs, she is truly a wonderful companion to her humans. It would be best that she go to a home with older children, just because she tends to be a rough player. Maggie also seems to do well with cats. She will chase them if they are running, but if they are just standing next to her rubbing up against her, she could care less about them. 10/14/2004

Hogan: is a 2 year old, male rough coated Saint Bernard. Hogan is totally housebroken, does NOT counter surf, trash dive or any of those other obnoxious habits that get these guys into trouble. Hogan is currently fostered in a home with various sized dogs and gets along with all of them. He is somewhat cautious of men so the family that adopts him will have to introduce him to any man coming into the home. He’s great with children and woman and becomes bonded quickly and eager to protect his family! 10/14/2004

BRUCE: This very handsome roughcoat boy is three-year-old Bruce. He’s healthy, neutered, housetrained, vaccinated and HW-negative. He does well with other dogs and with cats. Though he has been with toddler-age children we prefer a family with children over 8. He’s a sweet, affectionate boy who loves to sit in his human’s lap and get kisses. Bruce has successfully completed two obedience courses. He sits for food, treats and attention, and he walks well on leash. Bruce is a dream dog who would love to have a stay-at-home mom so he’ll have someone on whom to shower attention during the day. The successful applicant will have other dogs, a fenced yard and older children. 10/13/2004

SCRIBBLES: Look at that adorable little face! Miss Scribbles is 2 1/2 years old, and you’ll never meet a sweeter dog. She’s spayed, vaccinated, HW-negative and housetrained. She’s been with children as young as four years of age. She’s terrific with other dogs and is playful with cats. Laid-back, affectionate and absolutely beyond sweet, Scribs likes nothing better than to cuddle with her humans. (And she’d be thrilled if you’d throw a few tummy rubs her way.) Scribbles has had a few health problems in her young life but now she’s healthy and she’d love a family to call her own. A fenced yard is not necessary. 10/13/2004

Chester: This cute Smooth Coat Saint was born in rescue after his mother was abandoned in an Illinois shelter. He was born 6/3/04. He has been in a wonderful foster home and has been exposed to children, cats, and dogs. He is very well socialized. 10/11/2004

Missy: is a 5 -7 year old long hair haired spayed female weighing about 110lbs. She is a well-trained house dog. She is crate trained but hasn’t been in it since the first night. No need. She is absolutely wonderful! She is eating good and she does her business when taken out. She walks great on the leash. She has been to the groomer and to PetSmart and she did really well around people. She has been brought up with small and large dogs. She is going to make a great addition to someone’s home. 10/7/2004

Zeus: is a 10 month old full masked, rough coat Saint Bernard. He was found as a stray in Mississippi. He is great with big and small dogs, cats and kids. He is housebroken and knows basic obedience commands. He loves to shake hands and go on walks. He is up to date on shots and is on heartworm and flea preventative. 10/7/2004

Heidi: is a 5 year old female smooth coat lady. She is very devoted, calm and sweet. Heidi was very sad when she came into rescue because she missed her owner. She is much happier now, and beginning to gain weight. Heidi is housebroken and likes other dogs and cats. She is up to date on all shots, spayed, and on heartworm and flea preventative. She deserves to have a new family she can call her own. 10/7/2004

Max: is a 1- yr. old rough coat male that is full of life. He loves everyone and wants to love and be loved. Max was surrendered because his elderly owner couldn’t care for him. Max is on flea and heartworm preventative and current on shots. He will make a great pet. 10/5/2004

Lovey: 1 year old smooth female. Came to rescue from a shelter in WY. Turned in because she was killing chickens. She is great with other dogs and kids. Lives up to her name and loves to cuddle. Will need obedience training. Currently being house trained and crate trained. 10/5/2004

Baxter: 3 yr old male. Rough coat. Great with everyone and everything. He is house trained and knows most obedience although a refresher course would be good. He was turned into rescue when his previous owners didn’t want him after the baby was born. 10/5/2004

April: 3 year old female. Smooth coat. Good with other dogs and people but will need additional socialization with both. Needs to be the dominant female (or only) in the house. Very protective of kids and thinks they all belong to her. Will need an experienced Saint owner willing to put in the time to train & socialize her. She is house trained and crate trained. Has some obedience but can be stubborn. She is not good with cats. 10/5/2004

Belle: is a 5 year old female. Smooth coat. Very well behaved in the house. Pretty good on a leash. Needs a home with no small animals and she needs to be the only female in the home. She is house trained and would do best with an experienced owner who can handle a highly dominant female. Belle is very submissive with people. 10/5/2004

Gordon: is a 1.5 yo neutered male rough coat. He is all puppy looking for love. 10/4/2004

Bono: has had a hard life. his owner is in jail for buying him and sticking him out in the yard without adjusting his collar at all. the material of the collar forced itself into poor Bono’s neck as he grew. bono rocked his way to us about three weeks ago after being cooped up in a shelter since December. bono was so happy to see wide open spaces that he shot like a cannon ball all over the yard. this one and a half old puppy loves to play imaginary electric guitars- jumping up and down. bono isn’t your typical big hair in the eyes rocker. he has an attractive white face and acoustic brown splotches on his back. 10/4/2004

Buster: dear, sweet 1 1/2 year old male St. Bernard who lost his home when his owners moved to Australia and they didn’t take him along. We picked Buster up in Victorville, CA and he rode extremely well in the van. He enjoyed seeing all the lights in the desert. Buster gets along with other dogs and is a big good boy. Neutered, shots, microchip 10/3/2004

Angel: This rough coat little lady is approx 18 months old. She is small for the breed, currently weighing 88 pounds but she came to us from a neglectful situation where she was rarely fed. Now that she has a good diet she is gaining weight rapidly and I believe she will probably get to about 110. Angel is a very sweet, gentle dog who gets along with other dogs, big and small, is not bothered by cats at all and she loves kids. She will make a wonderful family dog. She prefers to spend the majority of her time indoors, preferably close to a human. 10/1/2004

Puppies:::::::::: This litter of 10 Smooth Coat Saints were born in rescue after their mother was abandoned in an Illinois shelter. They were born 6/3/04. They have been in a wonderful foster home and have been exposed to children, cats, and dogs. They are very well socialized. We will be taking applications and placing the puppies with only VERY serious adopters. Adopters MUST have a fence, MUST be willing to allow the Saint to live indoors, and MUST enroll the Saint in obedience class. 9/30/2004

Baker: This 2 year old was rescued from an Indiana Shelter after his owners decided he was just too much puppy for them. He is good with other dogs, cats, and older children. He is a sweet guy and a big goof ball! Won’t you give him a second chance? 9/30/2004

NORMAN: Norman is a wonderful, loving three-year-old roughcoat who comes to us following his family’s divorce. He is housetrained and UTD on vaccinations. He’s scheduled to be neutered and tested for HW. Like so many Saints, Norman has a seizure disorder but it’s well-maintained on medication that’s quite inexpensive. Norman plays well with other dogs and even tolerates cats. He’s been around children of all ages (including an infant). A fenced yard is preferred but is not essential. Won’t you take a chance on this sweet, affectionate boy? 9/29/2004

TUGGER: Tugger was born on Christmas Day 2001 and what a sweet present he was! Alas, his family got caught up in their own lives and had no time for him so he ended up in a kill shelter in the south. From there he made his way to New England Saint Bernard Rescue. Tug is heartworm-negative, up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered and housetrained. He’s ready to go to a new home. Could that be yours? Tug is good with female dogs only. He’s great with kids and also with strangers. Don’t know about cats. A fenced yard is necessary, and giant-breed experience would be a plus. 9/29/2004

Weston: He’s a 2 yr old longhaired boy that’s sweet as sweet can be. He is a longhaired but has recently had a haircut. Weston is good with everything. He’s lived with kids, other dogs, cats, & ferrets. He’s housebroken and loves belly rubs. He’s had some obedience training but still needs some practice on leash. He wants to be someone’s forever companion to love and be loved. He would make a great pet for just about anybody. He is a true gentle giant. 9/27/2004

Mandy: Mandy is a young female came from a shelter into rescue. Very sweet girl, content to lay on the floor and be petted for hours gets along with other dogs, doesn’t seem to be dominant. Has very little interest in cats. Will check them out, but that’s all. Very good house manners, seems to be housebroken. Tight lip, so no drooling. Very lady-like and calm mannered. But has plenty of energy to play when she wants to. Knows some basic commands, but could always use a brush up. Intelligent. Will probably remain on the petite side. Easy to care for coat. Very good with the groomer. Easy to work with. Likes to jump up on you occasionally and give you hugs with her paws, working on that. A home with older children would probably be best. 9/27/2004

Suzie: is a lovely longhaired female saint. Spayed& up to date on shots and weighing around 125#. She is friendly, good with children and most other dogs. Cats are unknown, although she has chased. Just turned five she is vital, full of energy and eager to play. Fenced yard to play and a companion would be great. Due to her size, children should be older. Saint experience is a plus. 9/25/2004

Dizzy: Is a 7 month old, full mask, rough coat, female Saint Bernard. Dizzy still has a LOT of puppy in her so she’ll need a forever home that is willing to work with her on her housebreaking and the “don’t chew” command – both of which are typical puppy behaviors. Dizzy has been spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives and is microchipped. Would you like to give Dizzy her forever home? 9/25/2004

Rosie: is a 3 ½ year old spay female. The poor gal is the product of bad breeding. Her front paws head East and West, her bottom jaw is longer than the top jaw and it is crooked as well. Due to that she is a bit sloppy when eating and can drool a lot when she is hot or exercised. Also Rosie paces when she walks. Pacing is when a dog will walk with the right front leg and right back leg at the same time. Most animals walk with right front and left back. Usually dogs that pace do it because they just walk funny or it could be an indications of spinal problems.. I am not noticing any problems with her spine. She has only had an accident in the morning but otherwise is very good in the house. Rosie gets along well with other dogs and seems to be good with cats. She is learning that it is impolite to bark at her furry friends and is becoming quite the lady. Rosie has not had such a nice life. It looks as though she was never groomed or fed properly. What she doesn’t have in background and beauty she certainly makes up for in personality. If you are looking for a real couch potato Rosie will be your dream come true. UPDATE;8/18/2004 Poor Rosie cannot understand that nobody wants her because she isn’t perfect. On top of that we have recently found out that she is not very good with cats so Rosie will need a hone without cats. I have updated her pictures as well. Her coat is finally growing in and she is looking very pretty. Rosie was so frightened of her bathes that she would lay down in the tub but now she looks forwards to her bath and grooming as she has learned that it is her special time to spend with her foster mom. Could someone out there please find it in their heart to love her. Rosie will be forever grateful 9/24/2004

Shamus: sweet, adorable 7 month old male St. Bernard who lost his home when his owner left town for military duty. Shamus is a well-behaved boy who gets along with other dogs, walks well on a leash and knows his basic commands. Neutered, shots, microchip 9/22/2004

Avalon: 15 month old male. Smooth coat. Good with other dogs and kids. Obedience trained, crate trained and walks well on a leash. Avalon is an ex show dog who came to rescue when his breeder could not care for him anymore. 9/21/2004

Burgess: is a healthy, fun AKC registered 4 year old who has been neutered and is current on all his shots. He is very smart and a beautiful dog weighing approx. 130 lbs. When he walks he is almost prancing. He runs like the wind and is beautiful to watch. He can open doors that do not latch tight and will get out of a fence that is not totally secure. He does well with other dogs and children 10 years and older but does not like cats. He his very gentle when he licks peanut butter off our fingers, one of his favorite treats. We suspect some abuse in his past. He is very cautious with new people and at times his body language suggests he is expecting us to abuse him in some way. Burgess need lots of love and a firm hand. He is great on a leash and comes when called. He will do well by himself or with another dog. 9/20/2004

GUS 2: Friendly and playful, 17 month old Gus will steal your heart. He’s vaccinated, neutered, housetrained, and heartworm-negative. Gus does well with young kids, cats, and most dogs. He’s a big fan of treats and will follow you to the ends of the earth for a piece of cheese. Though he’s decended from a dozen or more American and Canadian champions (including Mountain Spirit, Slaton, Stoan, and Cache Retreat), he has never been in the show ring. He much prefers to just nap on the couch. A fenced yard is preferred. 9/19/2004

RILEY: Just a year old, Riley came to us from a municipal shelter in New York where he had been surrendered by his owners because “he got too big”. Huh? The little guy only weighs around 95 pounds soaking wet and is easily 20 pounds underweight. He’s had a rough early life and is recovering from a pretty serious case of pneumonia. But Riley’s feeling much better now, and would like a family of his own on whom he can bestow puppy kisses. Neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm-negative, he’s almost completely housetrained and tries very hard to let us know when he needs to go outside to take care of business. He was raised with children and is friendly with most other dogs but is unknown with cats. He LOVES riding in the car and getting tummy rubs. We’d prefer a fenced yard. Won’t you let sweet little Riley into your heart? 9/19/2004

DAVE: Dave is a handsome 2-1/2 year old roughcoat who is neutered, UTD on vaccinations, HW-negative and housetrained. He does well with older children but should be the family’s only pet. Dave is the product of abuse, and the successful applicant will be patient and willing to help Dave learn to trust humans again. Though he has some basic obedience he can be stubborn at times and he hasn’t yet mastered the fine art of controlled leash-walking. All that said, Dave is a good boy who’s quite affectionate and he will be a wonderful dog for the right person. We are requiring a sturdy six-foot fence, and Saint experience is essential. 9/19/2004

Emma: Has a lovely face, and is settling in. She went to the vet yesterday, and was bathed, given shots, etc. Poor thing, she weighs only 66 pounds, and you can count every bone just by looking at her. I can fit my cupped hand around her backbone. The vet said she should be about 100. She thinks she is 1 to 1 1/2 yrs old. She is getting along fine with the other dogs. Emma will be spayed, current on all vaccinations, on flea/tick and heartworm preventative as well as microchipped prior to placement. Would you like to give Emma her forever home. 9/17/2004

GRETA: is a 2 year old ( estimated by vet ) smooth-coat female. She weighs in at around 110 lbs. or so. Greta is spayed, current on all shots, has been heartworm tested, and started on her flea & heartworm preventative. She is housebroken & crate trained too. Greta is a very laid back girl for her age. She would prefer a home with older children & she seems to do well with other dogs. Greta does okay with cats, but tends to want to chase them. She enjoys going for walks, & likes being near her family. Greta can jump a 4ft. fence, that is probably why she came into the shelter as a stray. It would be best that she go to a home with a higher fence, or to someone who will leash walk her a few times a day. 9/16/2004

Baloo: Hi my name is Baloo. I was named after the big, clumsy bear on Jungle book. I am 126lbs and am a little to thin for my build. I am 1yr and 9mnths old. I am a giant smoothcoat, neutered male. I am current on all my vaccines, on flea and heartworm preventative and am micro-chipped. I am told I am a big baby. I love to be loved. I like other dogs but I am not sure yet about the cats. I want to chase them but my foster mom won’t let me. I love playing with the kids, I like to give kisses to the baby (his face taste good). He sneaks me cookies when mom is not watching. I know how to sit, lay down, and give paw. I like leaning on my foster mom to get love. It was really fun when I knocked her over then I got to kiss her whole face. She laughed and told me how big and clumsy I was. Can you imagine that, she’s the one who fell and she thinks I am clumsy HA. I love to get rubbed and play ball. I like playing with my foster family but I would really like a forever home, if yours is it. 9/16/2004

MAX: is a 4-5 year old rough-coat male. He weighs in at around 140 lbs. Max is neutered, housebroken, current on all shots, and on flea & heartworm preventative. Max is a very laid back boy. He loves hanging out on the couch with a human buddy, head in lap for lots of petting. Max also loves to go for leash walks. When he sees the leash, he gets very excited! What he really likes to do is to take the leash in his mouth & take his human for a walk! Max is not a rowdy boy, but he does love to play outside with his human when he has the chance. Max is definitely a people dog, he really likes to be close to his people. Max is fine around cats, & does fine around other large dogs and puppies. He especially likes female dogs, but humans are his favorite thing. If you are looking for your next “Best Friend”, please consider Max, nothing would make him happier! 9/16/2004

Cookie: Hi my name is Cookie and I am looking for a family to love. I am UTD on all my shots. I am on heartworm and flea preventative. I am a spayed female Saint mix approx 1.5yrs old. I have two of my younger siblings that are looking for homes also, but I am already past most of that puppy stuff. I like to play and get my belly rubbed.

Bo: is a goldie mix, He was found in Harrison Arkansas with a note attached to his collar which read. My name is Bo Born 5/03 shots 4/04 wormed 8/04 last my mom died I need a forever home. I love kids not cats He was left by the road in town with a bowl of water and a dog food. I found him to be a very sweet, gentle dog he is leash train and after 30 mins I had him setting. He is now with the Harrison Ark animal control Officer. He is on death row and has about 7 days left as of Sept 1. 9/15/2004

Mozart: is a 2 year old neutered male. He is house broken and knows his basic command. Mossey loves to be with people, is great with children, and gets along well with dogs and cats. He is very underweight so Mossey will need a lot of TLC and some good chow. 9/15/2004

Mac: 8 month old smooth male. Turned into rescue because he was too big and active for the kids in his previous home. He is house trained, crate trained and knows a little obedience. He will need more training as he is a typical puppy. 9/14/2004

JJ: is a 3 year old long hair male. He wants to be at your side all the time. He appears to be good with kids and other dogs. He is excited when greeted but calms down quickly. He does well on or off lead. .Please fill out the online application if you are interested in adopting JJ. 9/14/2004

Katie: Katie is a 1-year old female smooth coat tri-colored Saint Bernard. Katie was a stray at a Maryland animal shelter and her family never came to pick her up. She is small for a Saint, weighing only about 95#. She is in great shape with a beautiful coat! She is a loyal and loving companion to her foster family and enjoys the company of other dogs of all shapes and sizes. Katie loves to swim, she loves to go to the doggie park and meet new friends, and she loves to play tug-o-war with her foster brothers. Katie is still a puppy and will chew things when left unattended, but she has never been destructive to furniture. Katie is housebroken, crate-trained, and uses the doggie door when she needs to go in and out. She walks fairly well on leash, but will need continued work on this. She knows sit, down, and come and has excellent house manners. Katie is excellent with all people, including children in the neighborhood. Katie would like to go to a home with another doggie playmate with lots of energy! She loves to chase and to be chased and enjoys frequent trips to the dog park and the beach/lake. Katie is an amazing pup with lots of love to give and is ready to find her forever family. Katie is spayed, up to date on all of her shots, heartworm negative and currently on heartworm preventative and flea/tick control. Katie is being fostered in Virginia Beach. 9/12/2004

Socrates: is a 2 ½ year old neutered male. His owner past away which left Socrates homeless. He weighs in at 120 and has a long coat. Socrates is housetrained and loves to play with other dogs. Cats are unknown at this time. He walks very nicely on a leash and does know basic commands. Socrates is a big goober boy so if you don’t like drool you will not like this big guy. He seems to enjoy kids and loves to greet people at the door. Socrates’ hip aren’t good so it would be best not to let him get overweight. Also he had seizures just before coming into rescue. He is on medication at this time and the seizures are under control. The cost of his medicine will run about $18.00 to $20.00 a month. 9/7/2004

Bandit: is an 8 month old neutered male. Although he may look like a saint I doubt that he has any saint bernard in him. He is a smart little fellow that is very active and just loves to play. Bandit is a very dominate male that likes to show everyone that he is the boss. Due to this behavior I feel it is best that he is the only pet in the household. Although he is small he is very well put together weighing in at 60 pounds. Bandit knows how to sit on command and is learning to heel on leash. Bandit is the first one at the door to greet company but unfortunately he greets them by jumping up on them. He is just so happy to see people that he can’t contain his excitement. If you are looking for an active medium sized doggy Bandit will be the one for you! UPDATE; Bandit’s name has now been changed to Shorty Living in a house full of saints we thought the name change was appropriate. I have found that Shorty is not dominate and will be submissive with an alpha dog. He definitely is not good with small animals as he has a high prey drive so if you have birds or cats Shorty would not be a good dog for you to own. He is doing great in obedient training and will make an excellent agility dog. 9/7/2004

Terra: This sweet 5 year old was given up to rescue after her owner fell on hard times and could no longer care for her. Terra was very loved and her personality shows it! She is a great dog! She loves other dogs and gets along well with cats, kids, and everyone she meets. She loves to play and she loves stuffed animals and rawhides. She is a snuggler and will love a good belly rub! 9/7/2004

Dryfus: This very sweet 6 year old was dumped in a shelter after his owner just didn’t want him anymore. He is great with other dogs and children. He has hip dysplasia / arthritis but gets along very well. He is also a SPECIAL NEEDS boy. He has been diagnosed with a heart condition called Cardiomyopathy. He will need to be on medications for the remainder of his life. He is just a handsome man and quite the lover! He is a big boy with a big heart! Won’t you give Dryfus a happy place to live out the next half of his life? 9/7/2004

MATIAS is a sweet three year old roughcoat male. He is HW-negative, neutered, and housetrained. His vaccinations are current. What a well-traveled dog he is! Born is Chile, he lived in Australia before moving to the United States. His family’s employment will be taking them to several European countries over the next couple of years, thus they asked us to help find him a new home. Mati plays well with most other dogs. He’s very curious about cats but does play gently with squirrels. He loves hanging with his humans and getting tummy scratches, but he doesn’t like it when the rubbish truck comes. Maybe he thinks they’re stealing his family’s trash?? He’s an affectionate fellow who has been described as “a gentleman”. Mati would do best in a family with slightly older kids as he doesn’t realize his size. The successful applicant will have giant breed experience and a fenced yard (either a traditional fence or an invisible fence). 9/7/2004

Bruits: IS a sweet ,sweet male coming to Rescue this week. He has been nurtured. He is 4-5 year old. His owner passed away and then he was tied to a tree by his neighbors who did not feed not water him as needed. A nice lady noticed him and the empty house. So also noted his skin started to lose some hair and he was losing weight. She ran down the nearest relative and received a release from them. She has offered to keep him in her home town of Conway Arkansas for a few days while we work on placing this sweetie. Robin has offered to drive as far as 2 hours from Conway in any direction to meet you. He is now being vetted . he has gotten his shots, worming, and will be tested for heartworms. His hair loss was flea related so we will some having his bald spots fill back in. Bruits is house broken, loves getting on the bed with you. Is standoffish of other dogs. Cats are nothing to him. He loves all people and is very happy not to be living on a tree. 9/4/2004

TANNER: Not quite two years old and full of mischief, Tanner would very much like a family to call his own. He’s neutered, housebroken, HW-negative, and his vaccinations are current. Tanner has been with children as young as three but we would suggest slightly older kids for him as he isn’t aware that he’s a good-sized boy. He is friendly with submissive dogs but has no experience with cats. Tanner knows some commands (and obeys them when it suits him). He does need a bit more work on leash-walking. It’s not that he WANTS to pull his human; he’s just in a hurry to scope out his world. Tanner’s a sweet young boy with lots of potential. We will want an Saint- or giant-breed experienced owner and a fenced yard for him. 9/1/2004

Shatzi: 2 year old female. Smooth coat. Half mask. Came to rescue from Alamogordo, NM. She was left there in a rest area. She will need obedience training and we are working on her house training. She loves to lay on the couch and stretch out as far as she can. She will also do this same behavior on the bed if you let her up there. Shatzi is not big on car rides. We have been taking her places to get her used to riding in the car and she is doing better. Shatzi is a little afraid of all strangers but after an initial bark will go up to be petted with the other dogs. She is good with other dogs but hasn’t learned how to play yet. She is trying though. 9/1/2004

Mugsy: Mugsy was rescued from a kill shelter approx 12 hrs before he was scheduled to be euthanized! He was given up because his family moved and chose to take the other dog with them. He seems to be having difficulty with that. He knows some commands, will walk on a leash for anyone that has the leash, very loving. Looking for his FOREVER home. 8/31/2004

Kira: did not come from jolly old England. she was transferred from Virginia Maryland rescue to us because she was not acting well with larger dogs. she is small and young for her profession- about two or two and a half. she is looking for a job, mostly in a different place. she loves snuggling up in bed and chasing cows and horses. we are working on passing her through customs at one of the local dairy farms. she wants to learn how to act in a lead role with bovines or ovines. she is a beautiful dog with a brunette colored splash coat and a freckled nose. she would also do well in a home with small tots, watching over them as they play. she would be a great nana. she is still looking for her dark haired British babe. 8/29/2004

Heidi: This beautiful 2 year old was left in a shelter after her family found that they were expecting a child. She is very sweet and gets along great with other dogs, cats, and children. She has a lot of puppy in her and loves to play. She would make a great addition to your family! 8/29/2004

Nala: her family was moving and didn’t take her with them. Nala is 5 yrs old, but doesn’t act like it. She is a smooth coated female who is having a hard time in her foster home because she doesn’t want to share the attention with the 2 smaller male dogs in her foster home, however she is a very sweet girl and loves attention and belly rubs. 8/29/2004

Daisy: Her tail never stops wagging, excellent on leash, kind and generous with her body, doesn’t jump , graceful. She had a pretty rotten life attached to a two foot length heavy chain with heavy locks at either end attached to a dreadful filthy collar so right it would hardly come off. Her neck shows the impression. She is very loving, wants attention but not pushy. 8/29/2004

Frieda: This very sweet 4 year old was rescued from an Illinois Shelter after her owners divorced and could no longer care for her. She is AWESOME with children and really misses being with a family. She is great with other dogs and cats. She is just a doll!!! What a lover!! 8/29/2004

Dolly: This very sweet lady has had an incredible rough start in life. After falling into the wrong hands, she was left outside to live, chained to a dog house. The owners finally gave her up to a shelter and we were called in to rescue her. She was matted head to toe in feces and urine. She was in terrible condition. After an intense grooming, she looks 100% better. She came home from the veterinarian, met her new foster brothers and sisters and curled up on the couch to sleep. She is the nicest girl! A little shy at first but quickly warms up. She is approximately 6 years old. She is great with other dogs and cats. She is looking for a forever home where she can be loved, sleep on the couch, and enjoy endless belly rubs. Could it be yours? 8/29/2004

Lucy Ann: 4 yr old smooth female. Came to rescue from a shelter. Wonderfully well behaved. Knows all obedience plus a few tricks. House and crate trained. Used to be the only dog in the home but is learning to play with other dogs in her new foster home. Will make an easy, quiet companion. 8/29/2004

Buddy: 6 yr old male. Buddy is a long hair but was clipped down too look like a short hair so that he would be cooler this summer. He is good with other dogs and kids. He is house trained and crate trained but would rather sleep on the bed with you. Buddy spends a lot of time just taking up space. He lives for pets and lovin’ and will follow you everywhere. Buddy would prefer a quieter home where he can be the top male dog but it isn’t absolutely necessary. 8/29/2004

Bertha: is a 2 year old smooth female. She came to rescue after 2 trips through the shelter. First owners turned her in after she supposedly killed a goat and a llama. They also said that she was female dog aggressive. The shelter adopted her out to a family that tried to make her an outside only dog. They returned her stating that she had separation anxiety. Bertha is not female dog aggressive nor does she have separation anxiety. She has gotten along well with all the other foster dogs and loves being in the house. She can/ will jump a 4 ft fence so a 6 ft fence will be required. She does not like being left outside so she needs a family that will leave her in the home when they leave. She is crate trained because she will troll the counters and trash cans. She knows some obedience but could use more. She is a happy, bouncy girl that needs another dog to play with her. She is great with kids and loves to wrestle with them. Bertha will make a wonderful addition to any family that is willing to put in the time to train her. 8/29/2004

LUCKY: A Dobbie rescuer was pulling a Saint out of a TN shelter when they noticed a saint male in the shelter also. They pulled him and contacted Arkansas Rescue. He has been Neutered this week, he checked neg for heart worms. HE seems to be in good health. Seems to be a young saint approx one to two years of age. He is not people aggressive nor dog aggressive so far. He choose not to notice the loose cat at the vets office so we will say he is also not cat aggressive. He is at this time being held at a Vet’s office some where in the center of TN. 8/25/2004

Ginger: is a 1-year old rough coat female. She is housebroken and well behaved in the house. Ginger loves people and loves attention. She gets along well with dogs and cats. She is up to date on shots and on heartworm and flea preventative. She will be a great companion. 8/24/2004

She is a very sweet girl gets along with other dogs and cats. She got lost and her family did not come to find her. She would make a great house dog and is housebroke. Her personality is calm, quiet and but gets excited when given attention. She just has not gotten much attention in her prior life but does calm down very quickly. Would loves to stretch out on your bed and sleep. 8/23/2004

TINKERBELL: Her family planned to relocate to the south and they didn’t feel she would adjust to life in a hot climate so they asked us to help find her a new home. Tinkerbell is two years old, housetrained, UTD on vaccinations and HW-negative. She was treated for Lyme disease a few months ago and has completely recovered. Not yet spayed, she will be scheduled for surgery as soon as her heat cycle is over. Tink is an affectionate little sweetie and a great cuddler. She has been around children age 7 and up. She is a dainty little lady who plays well with most other dogs and is friendly with cats. We would prefer a fenced yard for Tinkerbell. 8/23/2004

BELLA: This little imp is 10 month old Bella. She is a smoothcoat girl who is spayed, housetrained, HW-negative and vaccinated. She has spent her young life frolicking with farm animals. (The family’s two miniature donkeys are her special friends.) Bella is playful with other dogs and adores kitties. She has had some obedience training and tries real hard to please. Initially a bit wary of strangers, she quickly warms up and charms everyone she meets. Bella would like a fenced yard in which to romp. And she’d like some canine playmates. We’d recommend children over age 8. 8/23/2004

RUPERT: This good-looking 3 year old roughcoat comes to us from a municipal shelter. He is neutered, UTD on vaccinations, HW-negative, and housetrained. His beautiful mahogany and white coat is SO soft and fluffy. He tolerates most other dogs and is reported to be cat-friendly. Rupert obeys the occasional command (when it suits him); he could use some work on leash manners. He has been around older children but has had no experience with kids under 12. He will need a home with a fenced yard. We’re looking for a patient family who will continue to work with him on basic obedience. Previous giant-breed experience is strongly preferred. 8/23/2004

However, she loves children and will make a wonderful family pet. She has had basic obedience training and walks great on a leash. Bailey is waiting to be a pampered “only pet.” 8/14/2004

Milo: 2 1/2Year Old Male Smooth Coat Milo and his older buddy Ben were reluctantly turned in to us by loving owners who are in the midst of a divorce and have moved to housing that will not accommodate two St. Bernards. Milo is a sweet tempered, big young boy that has attended canine socialization school and has a certificate of good canine citizenship! He gets along with other dogs and loves to play. He is fine with kids but his sheer size might be intimidating for real little ones. He has grown up with his buddy Ben and seems to be very attached to him, so our first choice would be placing these two gentle giants together, however, we know this is not always possible and will not rule out separate forever homes. 8/14/2004

Elijah: 4 Year Old Male Rough Coat Elijah is a big, beautiful boy. His owners turned him into a local shelter because they said he was too big. BO: is a Lafayette, LA southern gentleman. He is from the Vermillion Parish animal control on his last day A male due to be fixed this week, as soon as we can verified he is in fact a saint. As you can see his photo is way to close to see his body. Hopefully we will be able to get a nice photo’s soon so we can take responsibility of him, his care, and new forever home placement. He is approx.11 mo old. The vet has given his rabies and bordetella shots. The lady wishing SBRF to handle his placement did give him his DHLP. She stated that he had long hair, but has been shaved. I will be calling the vet’s office Monday or Tuesday June 1st. When the vet’s open to ask about him and to see if some one there can make arrangements with the local LA rescuers to take a better photo of him for you all to see. He is reported as being sweet and not being people aggressive, Nor is he dog aggressive. As to cat aggressive we do not think so but do not know at this time. Being a young dog placed at the shelter by his owners due to their moving out of town . We would think he would make a wonderful pet. 7/31/2004

Cassius: 8 year old male. Smooth coat. Came to rescue after his owner left him chained to a tree and moved. He has spent his whole life at the end of a chain and has the scars to prove it. He will need all forms of socialization and training. He is fine with other dogs but is a little growly when other dogs crowd him. He is good with kids and loves to sit at your feet for pets. He would do best in a mellower home with other dogs who don’t want to play with him since he doesn’t know how to play anyway. He spends most of his time taking up space and looking for love. 7/30/2004

Dreyfus: was adopted as a puppy and given a loving home for about 18 mo. He is now about 2 yrs old and his family got divorced and couldn’t keep him. He LOVES to play with dogs and people, go on walks, he is Still very much a puppy. 7/24/2004

Oreo: female St rescued from A VERY neglectful situation! Oreo was left to roam the swamp land that the “owners” had. She had to find food where she could, when she could, in the garbage. They had to fend for themselves, and find their own shelter also. The “owner” also has another St that happens to be a male and he is tied up “behind the barn”, When we picked up the girls , they were both severely infested with Ticks and they were extremely underweight also. Both girls were positive for heartworm! Due to her age (she is only a baby) when bred; due to malnourishment; due to interbreeding; and very probably stress, Oreo is now in very loving foster homes starting recovery and will be available for adoption to their forever homes in the next few weeks. Oreo has been treated for Heartworm and will be spayed soon. The local humane society is working with animal control to see that the remaining St’s living conditions either are corrected or the dog will be removed from the situation! 7/24/2004

Sophie’s: original owner is active military and has to go to Kuwait. Obviously, Sophie cannot go, so she needs a new home. She is a 1.5 yr old spayed female, she is housetrained, good with other dogs and would make a wonderful addition to your home. 7/24/2004

Lars: Lars is a young male saint bernard that was rescued from a shelter in Knoxville, TN. Lars has had a tough life thus far, but has kept a wonderful attitude throughout the entire ordeal. Lars is ready for a permanent home where he knows that he will be taken care of and loved. Can you be that home? Lars gets along with other dogs – we haven’t done the cat test yet, but will be glad to do so before adoption. 7/24/2004

Boston: Boston is a full-blooded Saint Bernard – and what a great guy! He is neutered and up to date on shots. He was rescued from the York County Animal Control center in South Carolina. Boston will need to be an only dog and no cats please. He will need someone with experience in large breeds that will give him the attention he needs. Boston is a short-haired Saint Bernard (smoothcoat) with beautiful markings (splash coat, black mask, white blaze). He knows basic commands such as sit, down, and no. Boston LOVES water and LOVES to be loved. 7/24/2004

Jackson: This very sweet 1 year old was rescued from an Indiana shelter after his owner decided they didn’t want him anymore and planned to shoot him. The shelter stepped in and brought Jackson to safety. He is great with other dogs, cats, and older children. He has a lot of puppy in him and could use obedience training. He is a very nice boy who is looking for chance to have a great life! 7/18/2004

NANNY: is a rough-coat female, that is estimated to be about 2 years old. She is current on shots, has been heartworm tested, & will be spayed prior to adoption. Nanny came is as a stray, & is around 10 lbs. underweight. She has passed the temperament test & is a very friendly, energetic girl. She is also a very loving dog. BARBOS: Barbos is a 21 month old roughcoat who is badly in need of some TLC. He’s a tall dude who is in need of an additional 20 pounds. Neutered, vaccinated and heartworm-negative, he will soon have surgery to correct a minor eye deformity. Once he recovers he will be ready to charm the lucky applicant. Barbos is a friendly, dopey guy who gets along with most other dogs. He’s unknown with cats. He does well on a leash and a fence may not be necessary. We are seeking the applicant who will help this gentle boy learn basic obedience. 7/14/2004

DAPHNE 2: is a delightful 2-year-old smoothcoat female. She’s spayed, vaccianted, HW-negatrive and housetrained. She is on antibiotics for Lyme Disease after having tested low-positive, though she shows no symptoms. Daphne is an affectionate little sweetie who likes nothing better than cuddling or going for walks with her humans. She has been raised with children. She’s quite playful and gets along with most other dogs but may be a bit too playful for cats. A fenced yard is preferred. 7/14/2004

BROOKE: This pretty little lady is an 18 month old roughcoat who is spayed, housetrained, current on vaccinations and HW-negative. Brooke has lots of energy and will do best in a household with children over age 10 or 12. She’ll soon be ready to interview prospective families. She would like to have another dog with whom to romp but hasn’t yet decided if she will tolerate a cat. A fenced yard is strongly preferred and giant-breed-experience would be a definite plus. 7/14/2004

Maggie: Maggie is a 15mo old longhaired female. She’s very sweet and good with kids and small dogs. She’s primarily been an outside dog so she does need some training and structure in her life. In the proper home she has the potential to be a wonderful family pet. 7/13/2004

Sampson: is a 14 month old male. He has just come into rescue as an owner turn-in where he had been living in a home with children and other dogs. He can be a bit territorial in the yard and needs some socialization skills away from home. Once he warms up to you, he is a sweetheart! He will not be up for adoption until he has been neutered, microchipped, and evaluated medically. 7/13/2004

BOOZER: is a 3-4 year old, longhaired male. Boozer has had a rough time in his life and has some special needs to deal with as far as adjustments go. He came to us as a stray and he seems to be a very happy boy overall….but, can get very insecure if challenged. He came in with Amy and seems to do well with other large dogs at this time, but we are still accessing his behaviors. Because of his insecurities, Boozer will need a home who can help him adjust into a family life. It is not clear if Boozer knows about children, so he needs an adult home or one with older children. 7/13/2004

Luke: 4-5yr old neutered male. Luke was a stray picked up by the pound. He’s a longhaired male. He’s very sweet and seems to love people. He loves car rides. We don’t know a lot about him as far as other dogs and kids, but he does have a very sweet disposition. He also walks very well on leash and loves to go for car rides. He would love to be someone’s couch potato and have a loving family to spoil him rotten. 7/13/2004

ASIA: She is a wonderful 8 1/2 year old gal who is just looking to be someone’s special senior!! She will require a little extra TLC and adjustment time in her new home as with her age, changes tend to take its toll. Asia is very sweet and likes to just hang out with you. Don’t let her age fool you, she has plenty of spunk and can definitely take an active role in her new family! 7/13/2004

Titan: has a thick red coat and a snowy white mantle. His handsome face is brown and black with a characteristic white blaze. He is a neutered male and is microchipped. Titan is still very much a puppy at 18 months old. He will grow 4 to 5 inches taller and will probably weigh 160-180 pounds at his adult size. Titan likes to sit on the couch and will back right up to the couch to sit down like a person. He will snuggle on the couch or bed with you. He is not yet accustomed to other dogs and is still learning how to play. He loves children and cats, and is very kissable. 7/12/2004

Angelica: was pulled from a puppy mill far too thin and full of worms. She is slowly gaining weight in her foster home. Angie has a smooth coat, exceptionally gentle disposition, and a graceful, dainty form. She is about half white, with fawn spots scattered over her body. She is good with other dogs, cats, and children. Angie is one year old. 7/12/2004

Tabitha: is a very playful girl! She is one year old with a smile always on her face. She is playful and gentle, knows sit, and walks well on lead. She has a very thick, rough coat and a big, wet tongue. Her family got transferred to Asia, so she needs a new family to call her their girl! 7/12/2004

Buddy: is three years old. He has a thick, dark mahogany coat with black tips and a sturdy, large build. His face is very dark and his flews are extremely well-developed. Buddy is great on lead, wears a gentle leader and knows “sit” and “down.” Buddy excels at slobbering, drooling, and kissing. He loves treats, children, other dogs, and cats. 7/12/2004

Phoenix: is a 3-year-old female who will do well in nearly any home. Her markings give her a bit of an owlish look, but she is sweet-tempered. She doesn’t like to be rushed or crowded, but she is playful and gentle. Phoenix has lovely manners and is obedience trained. She would do well in a home with small children, cats, other dogs or almost any other situation. 7/12/2004

Trooper: needs someone with patience & understanding. He is a totally different dog now than when he went to his foster home. He’s still timid. Coming forward, sniffing, & then backing up is still a common reaction to new things. Trooper is very passive unless he’s excited. Then his name should have been Tigger. He bounces on his front feet up & down. He’s still trying to learn how to “play”. A home with another happy, passive dog would be good for him. Sometimes he ignores the cats & sometimes he chases them. Trooper is very smart & learns quickly. He loves to be sat with and petted. He will sometimes seek it out but never insistently like some dogs. He likes to be near you but not on top of you. Trooper should be put somewhere where he can’t destroy anything when he’s left alone. He goes to the kennel & gets in on his own when you say kennel. A good sturdy kennel will be a must. Over all he is a quiet, easy dog. He still prefers women over men but there are some boys he likes right away. 7/12/2004

Allie: is almost a normal dog now! She plays with her sister, Jasmine, frequently and is learning to steal socks! She will pick up a teddy bear and run around the yard with it in her mouth to entice her foster-brothers to play. She ought to go to a home with other dogs so she has playmates. Allie likes children and ignores cats.7/12/2004

Sebastian: is a year old neutered male. He was found as a stray and was very underweight and full of parasites. He is not house trained yet but we are working on it. Sebastian is a real lover and wants to be touching you all the time. He walks well on a leash and responds to your voice immediately. This boy is very playful and loves to be with other dogs and cats. He does like to get between your legs and is learning that is not nice as he is very tall and can take you right off your feet. 7/12/2004

Bonnie: & Clyde: are 1 year old brother and sister pair of purebred, smooth coat, St. Bernard puppies and are looking for a loving home together. Rescued from death row at a high volume kill shelter because their previous owner thought they “Got too big”. Since being saved by rescue they have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and tested (negative) for heartworm and lyme disease, and are in excellent health. They are LARGE Saints. Clyde weighs in at 150lbs and Bonnie 130lbs and are still growing. They are extremely people oriented and thrive on human attention and will dance for treats and belly rubs. They are closely bonded with each other so are looking for a home with love enough for both. Like all young puppies they still need some training but are anxious to please and learn quickly. A new owner with previous large dog experience is preferred, and a fenced yard and good vet reference are mandatory. 7/9/2004

BUSTER: is a 21 month old roughcoat male. He’s a friendly boy who is neutered, housetrained, vaccinated and heartworm-negative. On the thin side, Buster needs to put on a little weight to reach his optimum size. He would like a family who will spend time playing with him. He’s a big fan of cuddling and he loves to go for long walks. Buster would welcome a canine friend, and a fenced yard is not essential. 7/9/2004

RANGER: is a 2 – 2 1/2 year old (estimated by vet) rough-coat male. He weighs in at 130 lbs. Ranger is neutered, current on all shots, has been heartworm tested, and is on flea & heartworm preventative. He is housebroken, has good house manners, & is not a very big drooler. Ranger knows a couple commands such as; “No”, “Go Lay Down”, & “Sit”. He is highly treat motivated, so he is a quick learner! Ranger seems to ride well in a vehicle, though he prefers the front seat, & walks well on a leash. He seems to think he is a Bloodhound, & tends to keep his nose to the ground the entire time he is on a walk! Ranger takes his treats very gently, and he seems to do well with children. This boy is a big cuddler! Ranger loves to put his head in your lap & rub his face all over you. He will whine if he feels he has not yet had enough attention. Ranger does well with other dogs, small or large, as long as they do not get nasty with him. He has not been exposed to cats. Ranger enjoys playing with his toys as long as he has a play partner. He does not play much by himself, but does enjoy carrying shoes around in his mouth. Ranger does not chew them, but they may end up with some spit on them! Ranger is a big baby who enjoys hugs & kisses! 7/8/2004

Shelby: This sweet 6 year old came to us after her owner’s divorced and could no longer care for her. She is great with other dogs, cats, and children. She came from a home with children and would love that interaction once more. She is a real sweetheart! She also has a tendency to “smile”. What a cutie! 7/8/2004

Arwen: is a four month old puppy who is very sweet. she is a smaller dog, only thirty- five pounds right now. she can capture your heart and ride it through an enchanted forest back to her home with her people. Arwen will not grow to be a massive saint, she will reach around ninety to a hundred pounds. her overall charm can bring even the fiercest warriors to their knees. 7/7/2004

Jethro: don’t look like a saint at all. he is a tall caramel colored dawg who looks a bite like a great dane. he is a farm dog. he’s taken a likin to sleepin in the dirt, chasin deer and ridin in pickup trucks. he’s spent a couple times in the Rescata lock down, so he found sumpin else ta do than run off. he finds attention and food mighty satisfyin. 7/7/2004

Reba: is a red headed ball of fire. running and barking at horses are her two favorite pastimes. she is unlike any thing else on music row. she is a year and a half, still a spunky puppy. her voice has a twang, but her lack of thumbs keeps her from playing guitar. her short tail and rust colored splash coat add to her personality. Reba most likely needs a home that has had saints before. she is a very protective dog, and would be a good watchdog. 7/7/2004

Cora: is a 3 1/2 year old female. Smooth coat. Picked up as a stray. Most likely used to be an outside only dog. She will need additional socialization and all forms of training. She loves attention and will make a great family member with a little effort on the new owners part. 7/7/2004

Lady Bug: 2 yr old female. Rough coat. Good with other dogs and kids. Loves to play. Lady Bug came to us from a good Samaritan in New Mexico. She had been dumped into the country to fend for herself. She is house trained but will need obedience training. 7/7/2004

Betty: is an almost 3 year old rough female. She is very mellow for her age and spends most of her time taking up space and snoring. She came to rescue after her owners turned her into the shelter due to moving. Betty is house trained and knows most obedience. She is now crate trained because she is terrified of thunderstorms. Betty needs a family that will leave her inside the home when they are gone. She is not destructive and behaves well. Betty is good with other dogs and kids but has not learned to play yet. Betty would do best in a home where she can be the dominant female dog. 7/7/2004

Hannah: is a 2 year old spay female. She has been very spoiled and will need to learn not to jump on people when greeting them. Hannah loves to run and play with children as well as taking long car rides. She is about 10 pounds overweight and due to her being diagnosed with mild hip dysphasia it would be in her best interest to keep her trim. Newfoundland’s have a heavy coat that will need to be groom weekly so if you are looking for a low maintenance dog Hannah will not be the dog for you. 7/5/2004

Harley: is a 18 month old neutered male. Harley has a smudge coat and is tri in color. He could stand to lose a few pounds so you can guess what his favorite thing to do is. Although he has not been obedient trained he is a fast learner and is walking well on a leash. Harley does like to talk to you and is learning to stop when told. He adores children but due to his size we would like to place him with children at least 8 years of age and older. 7/5/2004

Bear: is one fun-loving Saint Bernard puppy! Only 9 months old, Bear has never met a stranger, and is always ready for a good time. Bear was turned into Rescue when his owner was deployed to Iraq. He has been neutered, is current on his vaccinations, and is heartworm negative. Bear rode all the way from Fort Polk, LA to Houston, which is about a three-hour drive, like an absolute angel. He’s a very well adjusted fellow, and will be a wonderful addition to the family that adopts him. 7/5/2004

Emmy Lou:Sweet Emmy Lou is still just a baby! Only 6 months old, she was turned in to Rescue when her owner, a single mom, lost her job. When Emmy Lou first came to me, she was absolutely terrified. All she would do was curl up in her kennel with her back turned to me, her face shoved in the corner. She trembled when I petted her. But after just a few days she knew she was safe and loved and now she’s the happy puppy that she should be! Emmy Lou is truly a sweetheart – she’ll crawl right up in your lap to be loved on if you’ll let her. And when I let her out of her kennel, she loves to run around the yard as fast as she can. She has been spayed, brought current on her vaccinations, and is on heartworm preventative. Emmy Lou is not leash trained – she crawls when you try to walk her on a leash. I have to wonder if a leash was somehow involved in whatever has made her so timid around new people. Emmy Lou will need to be adopted by a family that can give her the love and attention that she deserves, and that will be patient with her until she feels secure with them. 7/5/2004

Bonnie: is 2 years old. She and Clyde were found together and are great friends. She still needs to see our vet to get her shots and to be spayed. She really likes people. 7/5/2004

Brownie: and Cupcake: Hi our names are Brownie and Cupcake. Our foster mom thought our names should match our older sister (who is Cookie). I think she just had a sweet tooth that night. We are 8 weeks old and are spayed females. Utd on our shots and are on flea prevention. We are a saint mix and are very sweet. We have already been introduced to a crate and we love it. We like to go outside and play. If there is a puddle close by we will find it. If you would like to adopt us Contact Trina. 6/28/2004

Buddy: is 5 months old a rough coat. He gets along well with other dogs, big and small. He shows no interest in cats at all and is great with kids. He is pretty much the perfect dog for someone who is looking for a puppy. He is house trained and is working on his leash walking and some basic commands. 6/28/2004

Missy: is about 1 year old. She is a smooth coat and her foster family says that she is a great house guest. She plays well with other dogs and wants to be friends with the cat but the cats isn’t having any of that. She loves kids and wants to be near them all the time. Missy will be a great dog for a family with older children. Missy is a little thin right now as her previous owner dint care for her properly but now that she has a good diet that will change. 6/28/2004

Misty: Very good girl, Misty is a 7 year old longhaired St. Bernard who is very healthy, happy and active. She gets along great with other dogs, cats and enjoys attention from people. Her previous family, who had her since she was a puppy, are military and they moved overseas. Misty will adjust just fine in a new home. She is doing great in her foster home. Misty still has a lot of life and love to give. Spayed, shots, Microchip. 6/28/2004

Sophie: and Montana: are 13 month old spay females. They are very sweet and are extremely attached to one another. Their life, up to this point, has not been very good but through it all they still are affectionate and trusting. These poor girls have eye problems and will need several surgeries to repair them. They have Entropion which is where the top eyelid turns into the eye. The lashes are constantly scratching the eye. They also have Ectropion where the bottom eye lid is too large and will pucker which puts more pressure on the top lid. Their estimated cost to repair their eyes, vaccinations, and spay will run around $1500.00 a piece. Hopefully you will find it in your hearts to donate something towards making these girls finally feel comfortable and not in pain. All donations, no matter what size, are greatly appreciated. 6/25/2004

LUCY 2: is a true gentle giant. She is a 2-year-old roughcoat who is spayed, housetrained, UTD on vaccinations, and HW-negative. Lucy is wonderful with children of all ages. She plays well with other dogs and she even likes cats! Lucy would like a family who will spend lots of time with her, and who will enjoy taking her for walks. A fenced yard is not necessary. 6/25/2004

TIMBER: This handsome roughcoat dude is 5 years old, UTD on all vaccinations, HW-negative, and housetrained. He was recently neutered. Very much underweight, Timber needs to put some meat on his bones (and this ought to be fairly simple to accomplish because he’s never seen a morsel of food he didn’t like). He does well with some, but not all, other dogs, he peacefully coexists with cats. Timber passed his temperament test with flying colors, exhibiting no food aggression or guarding. Though he’s a bit insecure, he’s a sociable boy who craves affection and interaction. He’s friendly with strangers and would probably do best in a family with slightly older kids, simply because of his enthusiasm. Timber has a lot of love to give the family who will welcome a “slightly used” dog into their hearts. Might that be you? A fence is preferred. 6/25/2004

Lucky: 14 months old mixed breed Saint. Very loving, house trained. Good with other dogs. 6/23/2004

Beau: is a 1 year old neutered male rough coat. He was turned into a shelter by his owner because they could no longer care for him. This guy is a big young dog. weighing 130 pounds. He is a happy pup needing love. 6/23/2004

Patches: Patches was rescued from a humane society where his anxiousness in a kennel, caused him to chew on himself. His owner no longer wanted him. He is a very sweet boy , calm and quiet when out of his crate. Gets along with all animals he has met. Friendly with kids of all ages. Looking for a forever loving forever home. 6/18/2004

DAISY: Extra Large Age; Young Sex; Female Notes; The Divine Daisy—approx 0ne year old, female, heartworm negative, dewormed, vaccinated, spayed and microchipped. Daisy is great with children, other dogs and cats too. She is extremely sweet and gentle and will make a loving and large addition to your family. Daisy loves to play fetch, swim in the pond, and knows how to sit. She does not jump and is a loving leaner. Her house training is flawless so far. This is one FABULOUS pooch!!! Adoption fee reflects vet expenses. This pet is; up to date with routine shots, altered. 6/17/2004

DAISY: LILY: & BAILEY: are 5-6 month old Saint Mix pups. The girls weigh in at around 35-40 lbs. each, & need to gain another 10 lbs. to be at a good weight. The boy weighed in at around 47 lbs., & could also gain another 10 lbs. or so. These pups are all current on shots, have been wormed and spayed & neutered. They are also on heartworm & flea preventative. They are being crate trained, & we are working on housebreaking too. These pups came to us in horrible condition. They are true rescue pups. They came in with mange, poor nourishment, had not been well cared for, & with an upper respiratory infection. UPDATE; The mange has been cured & their hair is growing back nicely! They are eating great & gaining weight daily! They are on antibiotics for the upper respiratory infection, & are recovering nicely. Despite all that they have been thru, they have very sweet, loving personalities, & are eager to love and be loved! They also love playing with all their puppy toys! These pups will make a great addition to anyone’s family. They will be ready for adoption in another week. .6/17/2004

DAISY-MAE: A little independent, but loves to be petted. She also loves her chew bones. Check out those baby blues. 6/17/2004

LILY: Very affectionate & loves to cuddle. Her favorite pastime is to curl up next to her human on the swing, & go for a gentle glide! 6/17/2004

BAILEY: Bailey is a male, so he is the biggest out of the trio. He’s a little shy, but very sweet. He loves receiving belly rubs & playing with his stuffed toys! 6/17/2004

JULIE: is a 17 month old rough-coat, splash-coat female. She weighs in at 122 lbs. & is still growing! Julie is spayed, current on all shots, has been heartworm tested, and is on flea & heartworm preventative. Julie is a very active dog, and would do well with a family who enjoys hiking & long walks. She is all puppy & just loves to play, play, play! Julie is housebroken & crate trained . We prefer her to go to an active family with older children. She would accidentally knock over toddlers because of her size. Julie is a very affectionate & intelligent dog. She loves to play fetch, and loves to play with other dogs. Julie is highly treat motivated, which makes obedience training much easier. Right now she is going thru obedience class at Petsmart & is doing well. Julie is fine with cats as long as they do not run! She seems to think anything that runs is playing! Julie would probably do well with a family with another active dog, so they can wear each other out. This girl is a classic leaner, & will lean against you for attention. She loves being petted! We would like Julie to go to a very loving, patient home that will give her the time that she needs to reach her full potential. 6/17/2004

CHUCKLES: is a 3 year old rough-coat male. He weighed in last at almost 170 lbs.!! Chuckles is a BIG BOY! He is neutered, current on shots, has been heartworm tested, and is on flea & heartworm preventative. Chuckles is housebroken, gets along with cats & other dogs. He is a very sweet lovable guy. Chuckles loves affection, enjoys going to the groomers, & travels very well. We prefer Chuckles to go to a home with older children , because he has no idea of his size & will accidentally knock over a small child. He has the “bowling ball” effect on toddlers! Chuckles does know a few commands such as; “SIT”, “LAY”, “STAY”, “COOKIE” & will usually “HEAL”, until his selective hearing kicks in! Chuckles does enjoy taking his human out on walks. He also loves to play tug, chew on his bones, & run with the ball in his mouth. Chuckles is a very laid back boy. He enjoys playing for a little while, but then just wants to relax the rest of the day, especially in the air conditioning! Chuckles prefers not to take too many steps at a time, he’s not very comfortable with them. This boy will make a wonderful family companion! 6/17/2004

CHLOE: is a 4 year old rough-coat female. She weighs in at around 120 lbs. Chloe is spayed, current on all shots, has been heartworm tested, and is on flea & heartworm preventative. She is housebroken & walks very well on a leash. Chloe is a very intelligent girl & is a fast learner, but can also be stubborn at moments. She loves to run & play. Chloe has a very curious, concerned, & motherly type of personality. She travels well, enjoys going to the groomers, & will follow you to the ends of the earth! Chloe is good with cats & other dogs. She knows “SIT”, “STAY”, “LAY” & “HEAL”. Chloe also does not like taking a large amount of steps. Chloe & Chuckles do not like to be scolded. They will take it personally, & go off and pout somewhere. Also, Chloe is not a big drooler. 6/17/2004

ROXANNE: is a 5 year old rough-coat female. She weighs in at around 110 lbs. Roxy is spayed, current on all shots, has been heartworm tested, & is micro-chipped too. Sydney Please say hello to Sydney. This sweet little 4-year-old spayed female is housetrained, UTD on vaccinations and heartworm-negative. Syd recently tested positive for Lyme Disease and is finishing a course of antibiotics. She is currently with our trainer where she is learning some obedience skills. Syddie will need a fenced yard and a family with older kids. She has had a rough early life and will need to be the family’s only pet. Syd is an affectionate lady who has a lot of love to give the patient family who will help her learn to trust people again. 6/17/2004

Sweetie Pie: is a very lovely, young female Saint. About 18 months old, she has been spayed and is current on her vaccinations. She walks well on a leash, and loves to be brushed and be loved on. Sweetie Pie really wants to be with people, so she needs to be adopted by a family that will allow her to be in the house. A wooden fence is also a requirement. Sweetie Pie is weak heartworm positive so she will need to be adopted by a family that will agree to give her Heartgard every month. (My vet will not treat her for heartworms. Her case is so mild he feels it would be inhumane to put her through the treatment.) A six-month supply of Heartgard will be provided to the family that is lucky enough to adopt this beautiful girl. 6/13/2004

Myrtle: is 1.5 year old, 120 lb, purebred Saint. Myrtle is still growing and will be a Really Big girl as she matures. Myrtle is healthy, housebroken, current on all shots, spayed, on Heart guard and Frontline. 6/11/2004

Doc: is an absolutely adorable male Saint Bernard! When Doc’s dad was deployed to Iraq, his mom was left to take care of their two year old child, her pit bull terrier, and Doc. When her pit bull attacked Doc, she decided that it was all just too much for her to handle by herself, so she turned Doc in to the local animal shelter. Doc remembers having been attacked by the intact male pit bull (Doc had to have 30 stitches on his face), so he needs to be adopted by a family where he can be the only male dog. Approximately 2 and ½ years old, Doc has now been neutered, brought current on his vaccinations, and is heartworm negative. Doc is an absolute love. And just look at that grin! His favorite thing in the world is to roll over and have his belly rubbed. He’d lay there for hours if your hand could hold up! Doc is smart, too – he knows how to “sit” and “down” – and is eager to please. Doc will truly be a wonderful addition to the family that is lucky enough to adopt him! 6/9/2004

Brody: is a long hair young male, perhaps 11 or 12 months. He’s very friendly and was given up due to a divorce. He has a bacterial infection in his foot which needs to clear up before he is adopted. He started treatment this week. He’s very attractive and has a full mask. 6/7/2004

Zane will need some additional training with the leash and needs to put on a few pounds. 6/3/2004

Teddy: Teddy is a very sweet smooth male Saint Bernard who was born on August 13, 2003. For reasons beyond their control, his owners had to give him to Rescue so that he could be placed in a new home, though this broke their hearts. Teddy is a true joy. He loves all people and dogs. He immediately becomes your best friend if you show him even the slightest attention. He is entirely vetted, including neutered. He is crate-trained and has never pottied in his foster home. He is currently being fostered in Western Pennsylvania. He has four Saints for playmates now, whom he just loves to play with. He sleeps through the night, every night, is a good eater, and is anxious to please. Teddy will only be adopted to a home which has a fenced-in yard. Teddy deserves a family who will love him forever and give him tons of love and attention always. 6/3/2004

Peaches: 3 yr old female. Rough coat. Came to rescue when her owners could no longer care for her. Knows most basic obedience and is house trained. Good with other dogs but would do best in a home where she can be the dominant female. Peach is very active for a Saint and is great with kids. She will need older kids who can handle her size since she is like a bull in a china shop. She gets very excited and tends to crash into things. Peach is not good with cats or other small furry critters. 5/31/2004

Miko: is a 14 month old male. Rough coat. Very good dog and very mellow for his age. He will need additional obedience training. He is great with other dogs, kids and cats. Miko is intolerant of Acepromazine, Ketamine and Reglan (metolopramide). These drugs have potential for seizure activity and he will not be able to have them in the future. The new adoptive family will need to make sure that his new vet knows this. He had 3 seizures after his neuter surgery. 5/31/2004

TIFFANY: is a smoothcoat Saint/Shepherd/Dane cross. She is spayed, UTD on vaccinations, and HW-negative. At only 11 months of age and 95 pounds, she is lanky and a bit on the thin side. An owner-surrender to Saint Rescue via the municipal shelter in Manhattan, Tiffany captivated her foster mom (though we haven’t yet figured out how her foster mom’s cats felt about her presence). She’s a lovely little lady who would definitely benefit from some obedience work. A fenced yard will be necessary. She will do well with a submissive dog (preferably a male), and older kids only as Tiffany plays with great enthusiasm. 1/29/2004

BABY #2: is a sweet young (15 month old) Saint/Beagle cross who came to us from a kill shelter in the south. Mother to Tulip and Petunia, she is vaccinated, HW-negative and scheduled to be spayed next week. Baby would dearly love another canine playmate. A fenced yard is necessary. 5/31/2004

He has since been to the vet, received medication for the ticks, worms and had his neutering operation. Bailey is utd on all vaccinations, heartworm preventative and frontline. 5/31/2004

She loves vanilla ice cream cups from the grocery store, and knows that a leash means getting to go for a ride. She is content to be in the same room as her people. Priscilla has a lovely dark red coat and weighs only 90 pounds. Priscilla needs a home where she is the only dog or a home with large males. She must have at least a 5′ fence in her adoptive home. Priscilla is food aggressive and should be fed separately. She dislikes thunderstorms, fireworks, getting brushed, and the kiddie pool. 5/25/2004

I like getting hugs and love from my foster dad but I would like to have a forever family to give my love to. If that is you. 5/21/2004

Moses loves to chew on his rawhide bones, loves to snuggle, & is a glutton for attention. He does not like being crated, so he sleeps in the children’s room at night. During the day he is confined to his room while no one is home, but seems to do well with this routine. Moses is a very gentle loving boy, who deserves a family of his own. 4/28/2004

Phoenix: Hi my name is Phoenix. I am a 2 year old roughcoat male. I have a smaller build than most but my heart is huge. I am about 96lbs. I am current on all vaccines, on flea and heartworm prevention, and am micro-chipped. I love to play and get loves. My foster Mom tells me how handsome I am and I believe her. I like to play with other dogs and cats. I love my children that live with me, they give me kisses all the time and I like giving them back. I am crate trained but would rather be out and about with my foster family. I am a little shy cause I am not used to being around a lot of people. I go to petsmart every week. This litter of 5 puppies was left in a box at a Southern States in Virginia, when they were 3 weeks old. Someone had taken them to our vet, & they called us. Our vet has estimated their age & has informed us that he believes they are Newfie Mixes. What they are mixed with, has left us clueless. These pups have been bottled fed for the past 3 weeks, so they have been well socialized with people, cats & other dogs. . 4/19/2004

Scout: Scout’s mom, Medora Benson, wrote that, “We live in Humble [Texas]. We have the most wonderful AKC Saint named Scout. We will be moving this soon as my husband is going to enrolling in the Seminary in Iowa to become an ordained minister. We will be moving into campus housing that does not allow pets so we are needing to find a new home for Scout. He’ll be 6 years old in June and has been a part of our family his whole life. He is neutered, well trained and well cared for. We’ve had him to the Vet for check ups every 6 months his whole life. He does have skin allergies that have required certain food though it’s not any more expensive then most. We have a son that will be three in May and Scout is an angel with him. In fact, Scout rarely even barks. He is such a calm, laid back dog. He never has accidents in the house. It is so important to us that he goes to a home where he’ll be well cared for and we want to make sure the new caretakers are familiar with Saints (their size, shedding, etc) so they know what they are getting into.” 4/16/2004

She loves to run and play, but prefers to stay right by my side and be loved on. Silly Sally walks well on a leash and doesn’t jump up on people. I started calling her Silly Sally because she gets so excited when I come to let her out of her kennel. She stands up on her hind legs and jumps from side to side – it looks like she’s dancing! She has been spayed, is current on her vaccinations, and is heartworm negative. Silly Sally will be a wonderful addition to the family that adopts her! 4/12/2004

A great big thank-you to her from the breeder. She is being treated for both with a good prognosis for recovery. Duchess is good with everything except for large dogs. Daisy is the supreme example of a Saint. She is totally laid back and mellow. Great with kids. Eager to please and loves all humans. She is also obedience and house trained. She has no bad habits other than drooling on her front feet and thinking that she is a rug. 4/4/2004

Lady Catherine: is a 3 yr old female. She is a rough coat. She is completely obedience trained, house trained and great with all other dogs, kids and cats. She is truly the perfect Saint. She is crate trained, although prefers to be close to her people. She gets along with cats and small dogs but will guard her food around larger dogs – she’d be happiest being the ‘big’ dog in the family. Star thinks that she is a lap dog. Angel: Hi my name is Angel. I received my name because there must have been many saintly angels looking after me. I am a 4 week old Saint/Mastiff mixed female. I was found on the side of a highway off ramp wrapped in a burlap bag. This nice man happened to see me trying to get out and took me to a vets office close by. It just so happened that it was the vets office that the saint rescue lady works at. She told me I was special and named me Angel. Off I went to her house. I like playing with her cats and snuggling on the bed. She also told me we need to find me a forever home. Can you help? 3/20/2004

Don’t think this limits this pup! He gets along just fine and plays and romps with the best! He just looks a little funny. He is just a great pup and is looking for a loving forever home. Can you find it in your heart to give him a second chance? 3/17/2004

Homer: approx. 2 yr. old n/m, utd on shots (including bordetella), microchipped. Homer was brought into a humane society as a stray. He appeared to have fleas and some sores on his back, so the HS shaved him. He has recovered from that, as well as entropia surgery (both eyes). He spent his first 10 days in rescue as a guest at a local vet clinic. All the staff fell in love with him. He is very friendly, playful boy who hasn’t had a lot of exposure to living in a house or with other animals. He loves to put his paw on your leg when he is in a sit and to have his belly rubbed. An owner-surrender, she is ready to take another chance on a human. Carrie is spayed, vaccinated, HW-negative, and housetrained. Though she could use an obedience lesson or two to contain that puppy enthusiasm, she’s not the least bit aggressive with children or adults. She’s wonderful with most other dogs and is curious about cats. We’d prefer a fenced yard but will consider applicants who are committed to daily leash walking. 3/15/2004

LADY 2: Cute as a button, friendly and playful, Lady recently celebrated her second birthday. She’s longhaired, spayed, vaccinated, housetrained, and HW-negative. Give her a piece of cheese and she’ll be your best friend. Lady had a tough early life, suffering bilateral ear infections, Lyme Disease, tapeworms and other intestinal parasites. All have been successfully treated and she’s ready for a new home. She’d like a family with children. Another dog would be okay (depending on the other dog’s disposition) but she’s probably a bit too intense for cats. A fenced yard would be a definite plus. 3/15/2004

FARLEY: Isn’t he handsome? Farley is 18 months old, neutered, UTD on vaccinations, HW negative, and housetrained. This sweet guy came into Rescue because he kept wandering off and apparently his owners were tired of retrieving him from the animal control officer. He’s playful and smart and his fur is SOOOO soft. Currently with a trainer so he can learn some basic obedience skills, Farley will soon be ready for his forever home. He’s good with children and most other dogs, and he doesn’t even appear to mind the occasional cat. Farley will need a secure fenced yard. Previous giant-breed experience will be a definite plus. 3/15/2004

Alex: is a 15 month old neutered smooth coat male. He is very sweet and gentle with children and walks nicely on a leash. Since he has been in rescue he is beginning to response to his name and can sit on command. His former owners thought he had a seizure but he has not shown any signs of seizure since he has been in rescue. Mozart does well with other dogs, children and cats. Her favorite treat is peanut butter, which she very gently licks off our fingers. Mozart and Burgess have been together for 4 years, but will do fine with another dog. 3/8/2004

Arthur: Arthur is a 5 year old, rough Saint Bernard. He weighs approximately 165 lbs, is housebroken, loves cats, kids and other critters. His foster family says that Arthur is the “perfect” house guest and loves everyone. He enjoys rides in the car, being groomed and sleeping beside your bed at night. Arthur’s only fault is that he needs to be taught how to walk ‘calmly’ on a leash. Arthur is neutered, current on all vaccinations and will be microchipped prior to adoption. Would you like to give Arthur is forever home. 3/8/2004

This boy is a gem! He gets along very well with other animals & children. Smokey is clumsy & would have to be watched around smaller children. This guy knows a few commands, & walks well on a lead. Smokey also rides well in any vehicle. He is just a very lovable & adorable fella. Smokey does have a genetic defect with one of his hips. He gets around very well, & can romp with the best ( like he was in the field with the cows this morning! ) . The vet said that he will eventually need a type of hip surgery in the future, preferably sooner than later. As of right now we have him on glucosamine, condroitin, & vitamin E, & a good diet. Besides this guy’s medical issue , he is an awesome dog, & will make a wonderful family companion. 3/1/2004

Abby: 4 1/2 year old female. Rough coat. Abby came to rescue because she did not get along with the other female in her previous home. Abby does fine with the females at her foster home but would like to be the dominant female if she can be. Abby is house trained and is well behaved in the home. Abby knows sit, down, heel and come. Abby is sensitive to noise so she will need a family that will let her stay inside when there are thunderstorms. Abby is very people oriented and very willing to please. She also needs a home with a 6 ft fence. She will make someone a great family pet. 2/27/2004

Bentley: 3 Year Old Male Rough Coat Bentley was sitting in a local animal shelter…luckily we got him just in time. He appears to love people but is not very fond of other dogs so he will have to be the only pet in the home. 2/27/2004

Charlie: 1-2 Year Old Male Smooth Coat Charlie was an owner surrender at a local shelter. They were supposed to come back for him but they never did. So we picked up sweet Mr. Charlie and now he is with us. So far he seems okay around other dogs and was great around a 3 yr old licking his hands and wagging his tail. He is a big beautiful boy who deserves a second chance with a great family. Is that yours? 2/27/2004

Scooby: 2-3 Year Old Male Rough Coat Scooby was found as a stray by a local shelter. He is a sweet, young boy who seems to get along with everyone including other animals. He is a bit depressed and appears to wonder where his family is. Scooby will make someone a wonderful pet. Is that you? 2/27/2004

Yifat: Yifat (pronounced “Hifa”) is being fostered by a wonderful volunteer in TN. She will need lots of attention to gain confidence, but will make a wonderful addition to a loving family. She is spayed, heartworm negative and up to date on shots. 2/26/2004

JACKSON: is an 8 month old rough-coat neutered male that is all puppy! Jackson weighs in at around 70 lbs. & is still growing! He is current on all shots and is on heartworm preventative. Jackson is a very sweet boy that just loves to play and get attention! He is housebroken, crate trained, and has had some basic obedience. Jackson needs someone who will continue his education and show him the way. He gets along with other dogs, once he determines that they won’t hurt him. He is a little too interested in cats, so it would probably be best for him not to go to a home with cats. Otherwise he is a wonderful dog that loves belly rubs and chew bones! He will make a great addition to someone’s family! 2/25/2004

CLEO: is about 6 years old, & is a sweet long-haired Saintly girl. She loves people ( hasn’t found anyone she doesn’t like ) and is very gentle. Cleo has always been an outside dog and still is, having stayed in a kennel here in her foster home. She might adjust to living in a home with proper attention. Cleo is quite full of herself & generally will ignore other dogs ( not aggressive per se, i.e., won’t lunge at or attack other dogs ), but close up she wants to be BOSS & insists on the other dog kow-towing to her. Thus , she should go to a home with NO other dogs. She is spayed, utd on her shots, & is heartworm negative. 2/25/2004

Beethoven: is a very handsome, young male Saint Bernard. The vet believes that Beethoven is about 18 months old. Beethoven is a very friendly dog, with lots of personality! He is very smart, and loves to be loved on. One of his favorite tricks is to come up behind you and get between your legs so you have no choice but to stop and pet him! He loves to chew on bones, and gives the sweetest kisses ever. He has now been neutered, brought current on his vaccinations, and is heartworm negative. Beethoven can be full of energy at times, so it will probably be best for him to go to a home without very small children (so he won’t knock them over!). A securely fenced yard is required. Beethoven will be a wonderful addition to the family that is fortunate enough to adopt him! 2/24/2004

Chelsea: Chelsea is 8 years old, has been spayed, is heartworm free and has had all her shots. Please ask about our adoption fee discount for Chelsea. She weighs 110 lbs. and really likes people, other dogs and cats. She walks nicely on a leash. Her favorite hobby is rolling over for a tummy rub. She likes car rides and grooming and wants to be in your house tonight. 2/23/2004

Hannah: is 8 years old but acts like she is going on 2. She has had all her shots, has been spayed and is heartworm free. Hannah will eat chickens and does not get along well with other female dogs. Male dogs are OK, though. Her hobbies include long car rides and giving her friends a high “four”. She is house broken and would love to be a member of your family tonight. 2/23/2004

BoDee: was tied to a porch all his young life and lived under the porch in bad weather. He has lots of puppy energy and needs the love and patience of someone that is willing to spend time working on manners. He is learning to walk on a gentle leader, and knows sit and down. 2/22/2004

Gracie: one and a half year old long hair female. Slow to warm up to new dogs, but does very well once she knows them. She currently lives with three other dogs, but it took her about two weeks to adjust. Prefer a quieter home. She’s very loving, but a bit timid. 2/21/2004

Grace: I am a very sweet 4 year old spayed female, UTD, and HW-. I am a roughcoat, but had to be shaven down to get rid of the mats. I get along well with other dogs and am excellent with cats (I just ignore them). I walk well on a leash, know sit, down, and come. I am house trained and crate trained. I love tennis balls and squeaky toys. I am a bit overweight so I need a human that will help me watch my figure. I have been adopted. My parents stopped by Big Dogs on their way to see me and picked up a collar and leash that were donated by Lynne Peedin from Big Dogs that says “It’s Not Easy Being A Princess” somebody has to be, so might as well be me!! They also bought me some toys!!!!! They are awesome! 2/21/2004

Franklin: is a 3 year old neutered male. He is energetic and enjoys taking long walks. Franklin really loves being around people and is looking for that special someone he can call his own. He is very good with other dogs but cats are unknown at this time. Although Franklin walks well on a leash but he will pull and bark with excitement when he sees his canine friends. He is a little on the thin side and will need to gain some weight. His coat is described as a smudge which will make it easy to care for. 2/21/2004

Mongo: As you can see by the picture Mongo is a very big boy. He is the saint in the back. Mongo is a long hair, 4 year old, neutered saint He was rescued last year and placed with a family who loved him dearly. Unfortunately the neighborhood where Mongo lived allowed their dogs to run loose. Mongo is not dog aggressive but when an unknown dog comes charging towards his master he will protect. The dog did not get hurt but it was a scary site to see. His adoptive family want the best for him so they put him back into rescue. At the time that Mongo was placed he weighed 150 pounds. I wouldn’t even venture to guess how much he weighs now! He will be going to the vet for a check up so I will know more than. Mongo lived with a 14 year old boy and a tiny 3 pound Yorkshire Terrier. At meal time he would always let his little buddy eat first. Also he was allowed to be loose in the house all day and the worst thing he ever did was sneak up onto the couch when everyone was gone. He doesn’t hear well so he would get caught every time. If you decide to adopt this big fellow you will have to put him on a strict diet! 2/21/2004

Manda: 10 month old smooth female. Manda is full of wiggles and craves attention. We are working on basic manners like not jumping on people. She’s intelligent and learning quickly. Manda is very sweet and plays nicely with other dogs. Manda was rescued from a shelter and had been starved by her previous owners. She does have some issues with food and needs to be fed separately if she is adopted by a multi dog home. 2/18/2004

TONKA: gorgeous 3 1/2 year old male shorthaired St. Bernard whose family had some lifestyle changes and needed to find a more suitable home for Tonka. Tonka is considered a “special needs” Saint because he suffers from hip dysplasia. He has had surgery on one of his hips. Tonka is a sweet, loving boy who loves baths, bear hugs and having his coat brushed. Neutered, shots, microchip. 2/17/2004

Rufus: This gorgeous 3 year old boy was left in a Wisconsin shelter after his owner was found to have too many animals. He is great with female dogs and small dogs. He is getting used to the idea of other males. He is a sweet boy and is looking for a forever home. He loves to romp and play and loves belly rubs! He is crate trained. He loves to just love on you! 2/16/2004

Chaos: This lovable man will melt your heart! He is the biggest lover! He came to us after his owner’s divorced leaving him in a high kill shelter. He loves belly rubs and rawhide bones. In return you’ll get lots of kisses. He is great with kids and other dogs. He is 2 years old. He is looking for a lovable home where he can receive forever belly rubs and pets! 2/16/2004

Bruna: is a owner surrender. He is a 2 year old neutered male. Current on heart worm and all shots. Computer Chipped. In good heath. His family will keep him until we find a good home for him as they love him very much. The couple has a new baby that Bruna liked as a infant. But now that the baby is 18 months and wants The dog. Burna does not like the hair pulling and the fact the child is just walking and might fall seems to bother Burna. He also seems bothered by the baby’s crying. I will up date this site as soon as I have more info on Burna. Burna is in the St Louis Area. 2/16/2004

Emma: A 14 month, female, smooth coat Saint Bernard. She is house trained, gets along with other dogs, big and small and loves to ride in the car. Emma is a very extremely timid dog and prefers to spend her ‘getting’ to know you time in a corner where she feel safe. Once she bonds with you she will soon become your shadow. Emma will ONLY be placed with a family that has either older children. Emma has now been bounced from family to family by no fault of her own, and it is our goal to be diligent in finding the ‘right’ family so that this is her last move. 2/13/2004

Cupcake: is a loving 100lb 10 month old female saint who already knows basic commands. She was found wandering near Allentown, PA by wonderful people who tried to find her owner. She is great with people, a voracious eater and likes to play with other dogs. Cupcake will alert, making her a much better watch dog than your typical saint. She is housebroken, current on her shots, spayed, on heartworm preventative, and Frontline. 2/12/2004

Greta: came into rescue after spending a couple months in a shelter looking for St rescue. She is wonderful with kids. Likes cats and dogs. Her foster family has kids, cats, and a dog. This picture doesn’t do her justice. 2/11/2004

Heidi: Approx 7 yr old female who was taken from a very neglectful situation. She was infested with fleas and ticks, by miraculously was heartworm neg. She seems to be afraid of some loud noises. She lived with another, but loves cats. After being in a loving foster home, she seems to be blossoming into a lovely grown up lady. Won’t you open your heart and home to this wonderful lady? 2/11/2004

Casper: is a 2 1/2 year old, longhair female. She is very sweet and has a lot of potential! She has lived with other dogs and would be best suited in an adult home or with older children. She has never been around other types of animals that we know. She is ready to become a valuable member of her new family. She will need some reassurance and understanding to be the best that she can be in her new home! Casper came in with Hercules…..see his description and picture. They can go home separately or together. 2/11/2004

Gloria: Gloria is 11 month female rough coat Saint Bernard. A woman contacted us because she came home and found a Saint Bernard who appeared to be dying in her front yard. We rushed over, Gloria was lying in the yard. She wouldn’t move and barely opened her eyes to acknowledge that we were there. We scooped her up and rushed her to our vet. The vet found that Gloria was suffering because her collar had grown into her neck. The vet removed the embedded collar and Gloria immediately responded by eating and drinking as if she was starving! Gloria weighs approximately 85 lbs and could definitely use to gain weight. She displays a slight food aggression, as she was probably hungry for some time. She would make someone a very loving companion. Would you like to give Gloria her forever home. 2/11/2004

Taz: is a 6 month old smooth coat male. Taz is housebroken and is up to date on his vaccinations. He walks well on a leash but will need to be socialize a lot as he becomes frightened when he meets strangers. 2/10/2004

Hank: is an older male Saint Bernard pup. He’s 22 months old, and has a golden temperament; playful, gentle, naturally obedient, housebroken and extremely loving. He has had basic obedience training, and would enjoy going further with this. He’s huge; his markings are perfect and his mouth on the dry side. He loves all people and all dogs. Cats are untested. He awaits neutering and a permanent spacious indoor/outdoor home. He must be picked up in Portland, Oregon. 2/6/2004

Cara: 2 year old female. Smooth coat. Cara is the product of a divorce. Her previous owners kept her on a chain in the yard because they “didn’t have the time to house train her”. She is now living in the house and learning to be a house dog. She is good with the other dogs but likes to guard her toys from them. Cara was starved so she will also food guard with the other dogs a little. Time and regular meals will cure that. Cara is learning how to wrestle and play with the other dogs and will go out of her way to get attention from humans. 2/3/2004

Monty: 5 year old male. Smooth coat. Monty was surrendered to the animal shelter because he had cherry eyes. We have since done his surgery and his eyes look normal now. Monty used to be an only dog so he is a little lacking in social skills with other dogs. He will growl at all new dogs but does not do anything else. Monty needs an experienced owner because he is very stubborn. Monty loves to play with people and will play bounce when you come home from work. He loves to sit on your feet while you pet him. 2/3/2004

Bernice: 4 year old female. Smooth coat. Very, very nice girl. Great with everyone. Great with other dogs. She came to rescue after her owner died. She can and will jump a 4 ft fence so she will need a home with a 6 footer. Bernice will need additional obedience training but she knows sit, go to bed, and go outside. She is crate trained and eager to please. Bernice is interested in cats and will chase them if she can. 2/3/2004

Dufus: 14 month old male. Rough coat. Dufus was last years Christmas gift. He is in rescue this year because “he got too big”. Dufus used to be an outside and only dog. He is now living in the house and learning manners. Dufus needs a home with another dog because he plays all the time. Dufus is very sweet and likes kids but needs a home with an older kid he can play with. Dufus has no idea how big he is. He loves to climb into your lap and pretend he is a lap dog. Dufus will need all forms of training. 2/3/2004

Dudley: was found wondering the streets with nothing but a collar on (no I.D. or microchip that we know of). Therefore, we have no real medical information on him at this point. He does look to be in relatively good health and has been very friendly and active since he was taken off the streets a few days ago. No fleas or ticks that I’ve been able to find Dudley age is unknown his is an adult male , weight Unknown as of yet. We will have Dudley neutered before placement. Dudley has not been tested for heartworm yet, we will have this done also. He will be given shots and wormed. We saved him from the Memphis kill shelter, He is an indoor or out door dog – was staying outdoors for a few days, But he has done fine the first day of being indoors in our small two bed room apartment It is unknown at this time if he will climb a fence ? 4 foot? or 6 foot? We believe he is house broken – yes He appears to be of rough coat (LONG hair) The name of breeder is unknown As for people aggressive, He is not at all. He loves every body. So far as to being dog aggressive it is unknown although does not appear to be (did not even bark when our small dog was yelling at him through the door) IS he cat aggressive ? not at all; he did not flinch when our cat (who is rather dumb) swatted him on the face and legs several times Health in general – appears to be in good health although has not seen a vet yet Habits in general – appears to be a very calm, sweet and gentle dog . He likes to come up to you and gently push his side into your legs until you start petting him. He walks okay on a leash although he may need a little more guidance on not pulling ahead too much Name of dog food Dudley is now on is Science diet He does appear to be a very sweet and gentle boy and is quite a beautiful dog. Every time I walk into the room he’s staying in, I’m struck by what a pretty face and gorgeous brown eyes he has. 2/3/2004

DALLAS: is a 9 month old ( estimated by vet ) smooth-coat male. He weighs in at 110 lbs. & is still growing! Dallas is neutered, current on all shots, has been heartworm tested, & started on his flea & heartworm preventative. Dallas is crate trained, & we are working on housebreaking him while he is in rescue. He is good with kids, & great with cats also. We are assuming he is good with other dogs, he did not show any aggression towards them in the shelter. Dallas walks quite well on a lead, he does not pull at all, but tends to zig zag in front of you. Dallas loves everyone he meets & he rides great in the car. This guy is all puppy & loves to run around with the kids! He also loves to play with his stuff pig! Dallas does know the command “Sit”, & seems to be very laid back in the house. Dallas just loves any attention that he can get, but his favorite thing is to lay his head in your lap. This boy will need some basic obedience training, just because he’s a young pup. Dallas will make a wonderful addition to someone’s family! 2/3/2004

HANNAH: is an 8-10 month old smooth-coat female, possibly a mix. She weighs in at approximately 70 lbs. or so and is still growing!!!! Hannah is current on her shots, has been heartworm tested, started on her flea & heartworm preventative, & will be spayed prior to her adoption. Hannah is a beautiful, loving , non-drooling, energetic puppy! She loves other dogs & children. She is good with tolerant cats & kittens , as she tends to enjoy a good game of “Chase the Kitty”. Hannah is housebroken, well-behaved, sits & comes when called, but is still in need of basic adolescent training, as she thinks all food should be shared with her! Hannah enjoys being the center of attention & will quickly bond with her new owners. Hannah came in with her mother, Kerry, and 2 other siblings from a WV shelter, where they were going to be gassed to death inhumanely . Hannah will reward her adopting family with lots of love and affection too! 2/3/2004

Major: I am a big and beautiful 3 1/2 year old neutered male that is UTD and HW-. I have what you would call “a laid back nature”. I walk well on a leash and know how to sit and lie down. I love head scratches and belly rubs. 2/3/2004

NANNA: is a 2 1/2 year old longhaired female who loves people. She has some obedience training and has been well cared for! Nanna can be a little insecure at times and this has lead to her to reacting to other animals. Nanna needs to be an only pet and she enjoys the company of her family. She is looking to become someone’s best buddy and lifelong companion without the interference of other animals. She has not been around young children so a home with older 14+ children is preferred. 2/2/2004

Cleopatra: She is white faced with black liner around her eyes; named Cleopatra! Call name Cleo. Longhair, spayed female, approx. 4 years old, very tall in size. She is a very sweet girl gets along with other dogs. She lost her home because new baby (human) allergic to dog hair. She has been a house dog, unhappy when left outside in the yard alone. Her personality is calm, quiet and likes to stretch out her bed and sleep. Appears healthy but needs to put weight on. 2/2/2004

Alpine: is a large pup with a great enthusiasm for life. If you are looking for a dog with a lot of get-up-and-go who is always glad to see you (I mean REALLY glad to see you—being greeted by Alpine can brighten the worst days) then Alpine is the dog for you! Alpine gets along well with other dogs and is always ready for action. He will do well in a home where there is lots of activity and will gladly participate in any activity. He is a fast learner who loves to please you. He learned sit on the second try and learned his name after 2 days in foster care. He will need to have obedience training to manage his enthusiasm and energy. Children large enough to not be knocked over by him would probably LOVE to have Alpine as a member of the family. He is a neutered male whose age is estimated at 10-11months. He is up to date on vaccinations, HW-. Alpine is housebroken and has become used to being in a crate for part of the day. He seems really interested in chasing cats, but did not harm them when he was close to one. He is probably safe around cats but may annoy them since he will want them to play all the time. 1/30/2004

Barry: This cute 7 month old ended up in a shelter after his owner’s decided to move without him. He is a very sweet boy who loves everyone and everything! He is crate trained and potty trained. He loves to romp and play. He wants to love YOU! 1/30/2004

Chance: This lovable guy is looking for a new start in life. His owners abandoned him at a boarding facility when they realized they had just too many dogs. They decided to leave Chance behind. He is a really sweet boy who lives to please you. He is great with other dogs, cats, and kids. He is very sweet and just wants hugs, kisses, and lots of pets. Won’t you consider giving him a second “Chance”? 1/30/2004

Sable: Sable was surrendered, by her owners where she had been since she was 8 weeks old. She is approximately 3 years old, rough coat female. She is house trained, crate trained and does well with male dogs but NOT FEMALE dogs. She rides extremely well and knows basic commands, sit, down, etc. She needs work on her leash training as she would prefer to pull you behind her than to allow you to walk with her. We recommend basic obedience classes to teach her the proper leash etiquette. Sable is a small 99.6 lb girl with a gorgeous, well cared for coat. She is current on her shots, spayed and had her teeth cleaned 1 year ago. She will be microchipped prior to placement in her forever home. We recommend that she not be adopted by families with small children as she’s very energetic and can knock them over. 1/30/2004

Butch: is a two year old smooth coat male Saint Bernard. He is an extremely robust, energetic, high-strung ‘pup’ in a FULL size body. Because Butch was required to stay on a chain with little human interaction he is need of obedience training and socialization. Butch developed ‘cherry eye’ when he was a puppy. His owner sought medical treatment for this condition, although he had good intentions – he found a TERRIBLE veterinarian that literally ‘butchered’ Butch’s eyes. After that occurred his owner then sought a specialist and had two other surgeries done, in attempt to correct the damage done to this dog. After three operations, Butch has full use of his eyes but the appearance can be somewhat unsettling to some people. 1/30/2004

Brewski: 11 week old. 1/29/2004

EMMA #2: This sweet young girl is 18 month old Saint/Golden Retriever cross. She is spayed, UTD on vaccinations, and HW-negative. She is a roughcoat who weighs in at 80 pounds. Emma plays well with other dogs of all sizes, tolerates cats, and is ever so gentle with children. And what a wonderful temperament!!! She’s an affectionate little lady who would love to have her very own family. A fence is preferred but is not essential. 1/29/2004

BigDog: Big and sweet is what this 4 year old male St. Bernard is. BigDog is a good boy who lost his home because his family was having financial problems. BigDog gets along with other dogs and is no problem around cats. Neutered, shots, microchip. 1/29/2004

MONA #2: This 14 month old roughcoat little doll came into Rescue after being picked up as a stray. She is spayed, UTD on shots, HW-negative, and housetrained. She’s a petite girl who loves cuddling and playing with a ball. Mona’s wonderful with humans, including children; however she would do best as the family’s only pet. She knows a few commands. A fenced yard is very strongly preferred. 1/28/2004

Maudi: a 2 1/2 year old rough coated female that is great with kids and other dogs. she loves to play ball and get attention. 1/26/2004

Samson: Hi, my name is Samson but you can call me Sammy for short. I can assure you that I will live up to my name. I am a neutered roughcoat male. I am 1.5 years old and am 125lbs and still growing. I am utd on my vaccines and hw neg. I love to play with kids and other dogs. I am told I have a squishy face that is perfect for kissing ( I like kissing). Belly rubs are great too. As you can see from my pictures I like to play. I will be having surgery on my eyes to fix a genetic disorder, prior to my adoption. It has been caught early so I should not have any permanent damage. 1/26/2004

Joey: is a rough coat, 3 year old neutered male that is up to date on all his vaccinations. He came into rescue with a funky rash that is healing very nicely. His skin is also very dry and he is missing his undercoat which could be a sign of hyperthyroid. The skin problems could be related to fleas or an allergy so at this time we are keeping a watchful eye on his skin and will have a thyroid panel done in two weeks. Joey is a real sweetie and when you first meet him he acts very reserved. Watch out because when he gets to know you his true personality comes out. He is like a mischievous little boy . He loves to take my slippers and toss them around and will even take a magazine out of my hands if he thinks I am not showing him enough attention. Joey also likes to mouth you when he is happy. He is learning that this is inappropriate play and is trying very hard to please his foster mom. Joey gets along well with other dogs and has been raised with a cat. He walks nicely on a leash but every once in awhile will cross in front of you or try to get between your legs. He’s a good boy and never tries to pull you when he sees another dog. He is most happy when he can be by his human’s side and is being given hugs and kisses. Joey was raised with little children that were learning how to pet a dog nicely. Due to his size it would be best to place Joey in a home with children 8 years of age and older. 1/24/2004

Diva: 1 year old female. Rough coat. Diva was picked up as a stray by animal control and never reclaimed by her owners. She is very sweet and loves to play. She is a typical pup and will need training. We have started her on crate training and house training. 1/24/2004

Simon: 4 year old male. Rough coat. Truly excellent temperament. Great with everyone. Great with other dogs. Loves to cuddle and he gives the softest kisses. Simon came to rescue when his previous owner could no longer care for him. He used to be an outside only dog but is now a house dog. He is crate trained and knows some obedience. A refresher course would not hurt though. Cats are unknown. 1/24/2004

Peaches: 3 year old female. Rough coat. Good with other dogs and kids. Will try to be the dominant female in the house. Loves to get belly rubs and any attention possible. She is house trained and knows most basic obedience. Her foster home is training her to walk on a head halti. She came to rescue because she did not make a good outside only dog and was too much for her previous owners to handle. 1/24/2004

DOZER #3: is a delightful four-year-old longhaired male. He is neutered, housetrained, HW-negative, and his vaccinations are current. Dozer’s owner entrusted this handsome guy to our care before moving out of state. He was quite a hit at the groomer’s where he bestowed sloppy kisses on the groomer’s little boy. Dozer is good with other dogs. As for cats, well, he’s quite curious but wouldn’t harm a dog-friendly feline. He likes kids and is fine with strangers. A tall boy, he could use another 12-15 pounds to reach his ideal size. A fence would be a plus. However, we will consider applicants who don’t have a fenced yard but are committed to quality play time and lots of walks. This boy LOVES to walk. 1/22/2004

BAJA: is an easy-going, friendly smoothcoat male. At only 9 months of age he already weighs 144 — He’ll be a good sized boy when he reaches maturity! Baja is housetrained, UTD on shots and HW-negative. He has had some obedience training and does well with children, other dogs, and even cats. A fence is preferred but we will consider applicants who are committed to leash-walking. 1/22/2004

Rorschach: was dumped in the country in rural Iowa last June. He has been wandering in the vicinity where he was dumped since. Rory is gentle, good with children, dogs, cats, small animals, and livestock. He sleeps comfortably with cattle and sheep. He is housebroken and will do well in most homes. He is neutered and UTD on his vaccinations. 1/21/2004

Hamilton: was abandoned by his owners while being kenneled. He is a sweet boy with excellent manners. Hammy walks well on lead, knows obedience commands, likes to be brushed, and is accustomed to having his feet handled. He is a rough-coated Saint with a very tall build and a very full, beautiful coat. Hammy is extremely handsome. We think Hamilton is three years old and estimate his weight at about 170 pounds. He is ready to go to an adoptive home. 1/21/2004

Little Miss: is the dominant female. Smart and sweet, she is the most socially outgoing of the pack and a quick learner. She loves to have her belly rubbed, and is not at all shy. She will lift a leg to get a belly rub, and if ignored, will pull on an article of clothing to punctuate her point. She is ready to go to a foster home. 1/21/2004

Heidi: is very much a people dog. She loves attention of all sorts. Pet her, and she’ll roll over. Rub her belly, and she’ll put her head in your lap. She needs a home where there will be a human with her most of the day. Heidi is in a foster home. 1/21/2004

Starsky: lost a leg due to injury in his former home. He is docile, sweet, and great with other dogs and people, although he spooks at strange noises. Starsky’s foster parents are strongly considering adopting him. He is in a foster home. 1/21/2004

Caleb: is very shy and will need a gentle person to help him adjust to life in a people home. He is a quiet boy who likes to be petted and walked. He is ready to go to a foster home. 1/21/2004

Henry: Hi, I’m Henry – I’m an 18 month old rough coat that weighs approximately 135 pounds. As you can see, I am underweight but I’m gaining here at Saints Heaven with my new mom and dad. I’m a tall gentlemen and very laid back but I do still run and play with my Saint brothers and sister. Here at Saints Heaven I’m 2nd in command. I help my big brother Bay keep everyone in line by barking to let Mom and Dad know that someone is misbehaving. I love to run and play and would be a great companion for anyone. I was found in the Atlanta area in a parking lot – the kind man that found me called my Rescue Mom and Dad and they were on their way. 1/21/2004

Napoleon: This sweet boy has been tossed from home to home. On his second birthday he was brought to a high kill shelter after his new owners only had him for a week. We rescued him and brought him to ISBR where he awaits finding a forever home. He is great with other dogs and loves to play. He is just a gorgeous boy that has had a rough start at life. Why not a new home for the new year? 1/21/2004

Chyna: This beautiful smooth coat girl is just 18 months old. She was found running as a stray and was never claimed. She is great with other dogs and cats. She has a very laid back personality yet loves to play with the best. She is a couch potato and quite a lover! 1/21/2004

Charlie: This lovable man was left abandoned at a boarding facility. His owners failed to pick him up and after living there more than a month the facility decided that they must find him a home or euthanize him. Luckily, he found us and now we need to help him find a new forever home. He is great with other dogs and loves everyone! Charlie is 6 years old. He has mild hip dysplasia but runs circles around most of his foster brothers and sisters. He is a BIG sweetheart and would love to cuddle with you! 1/21/2004

Dudley: Dudley was found in an abandoned house in Chicago and taken to the animal shelter where he was deemed “Abandoned Property”. We took Dudley in and deemed him a “living, breathing, lovable pooch”! This handsome man loves everyone and everything. He is great with dogs, cats, and kids. He is housebroken and knows commands. He is looking for a permanent loving, forever home. Can you find a place in your heart? 1/21/2004

CHESTER: is a 4 1/2 year old rough-coat male, with a sweet disposition. On the smaller side, weighs about 100lbs current on all shots and on heartworm preventative, & is neutered. Probably would do well in a house with no cats, but gets along with other dogs. Shows no aggression towards them whatsoever. Loves to sit quietly and be petted and enjoys his chew bones! Is housebroken and seems to do well when left alone, but does enjoy listening to the radio when he’s alone. Has some skin allergies that caused some hair loss but he is on medication and his hair is coming back in nicely. Loves to go for car rides, and does pretty well on a leash, only tugs a little sometimes. Needs someone who will re-teach him the basic obedience commands and show him with love! He will make a great family companion. 1/21/2004

SAMPSON: is a 7 month old rough-coat male. He weighs in at 94 lbs. & is still growing! Sampson is neutered, current on all shots, has been heartworm tested, and is on flea & heartworm preventative. We are working on housebreaking him. Sampson gets along very well with other dogs & he just adores cats too! He walks really well on a leash, & rides great in the car. Sampson knows a few commands like “Stop”, “No”, & “Sit”. This boy is a very quiet & mellow guy. He loves to chew on his rawhides! We prefer Sampson to go to a home with a doggie buddy, because he really enjoys the companionship, when his human family is not home. Sampson does have hip displasia, that is why he was dumped at a shelter, because his previous owners did not want a defective dog. We have him on maintenance medications such as Glucosimine, Vitamin E, a Multi-Vitamin, & a good diet. Since his bones are still growing, he will not be able to get any type of surgery until he is 2 years of age. He also goes on daily walks, but the best exercise regiment for him would be swimming. Swimming is low impact on the joints & really tones up the muscles. So if you are interested in adopting this extremely sweet guy, give me a call! 1/21/2004

SPOTZ: is a 10 month old rough coat male. He weighs in at around 100lbs. & is still growing! Spotz is current on all his shots, has been heartworm tested, & will be neutered prior to his adoption. He is housebroken & is mostly crate trained. Spotz is in need of some basic obedience training, & is learning quickly while in foster care. He now knows “Sit”, & is learning to walk on a lead. This guy is all puppy & just loves to run & play! Spotz is good with other dogs, & goes to people easily. He would be good in a home with older children, just because he would have the “bowling ball” effect on toddlers. He is not very aware of his size yet! Spotz is a very fun & playful guy. He is very alert & quite active too. No hip issues here! This guy runs up & down steps like there’s no tomorrow and is very agile. Spotz also loves to give kisses , & will fall asleep while getting belly rubs! Spotz will make a great family pet. 1/21/2004

BEETHOVEN 3: This handsome fellow is a friendly 11 month old roughcoat. He’s neutered, up to date on shots, and HW-negative. He is learning that jumping on people is not a nice way to greet them but he is so enthusiastic when making new friends that he just can’t help himself. UP-DATE; Chester needs a boy he can call his own. He loves to wrestle, chase his tail, and play ball. He will be in your face and relentless until you play with him. He is not neutered, but will be before he is placed in a forever home. Xander is housebroken, and spends his days between the house and the yard. He could use a loving family who would like to play with him in the yard, and take him for walks and outings. He does walk on a leash, but pulls somewhat, as he needs some more practice with this skill. Xander will only be adopted to a home with a fenced-in yard. 1/3/2004
