VAL: is a 1 year old, rough-coat female. She weighs in at around 110 lbs. Val is spayed, UTD on all shots, and is on flea & heartworm preventative. Val is housebroken, crate trained & has wonderful house manners. She gets along great with children, cats & dogs of all sizes. Val is all puppy & loves to romp & play, especially with other dogs! She loves attention, & enjoys being brushed. Val also rides well in a car. She knows some commands like; “SIT”, “DOWN”, & “COME HERE”, and walks well on a leash. When Val was 3 weeks of age, her mom stepped on her leg & broke it. Occasionally Val will favor this leg ( left hind leg). We had her leg x-rayed, & everything healed fine. Her hip is fine also. We feel that her muscles in that leg , may need to be built up, from being in a cast for a long time at such a young age. Swimming & moderate exercise will help with this. Otherwise Val will make a wonderful addition to someone’s family. 12/31/2001

Delilah: 2 year old female longhair whose owner moved out of state and left her behind. She is good with children and other dogs. She has some obedience training. Delilah is spayed and up-to-date on her shots. 12/31/2001

She is looking for a loving home where she can be part of the family. She is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. 12/31/2001

Girlie: This poor girlie was picked up at a Pizza Hut in Harrisburg. She’s probably about 1-2 years old. She’s thin, but a big girl. She is very playful and in need of training, but very sweet. Girlie is good with other dogs and good on a leash. With a good grooming and lots of love, she’ll be a darling pet. 12/29/2001

Duke: Duke will be 2 years old in November. He’s a shorthair and a very big boy at around 180 lbs. Duke has been an outdoor dog and has had no training. The perfect home for him would be with a family with big dog experience with the willingness to obedience train him. He is good with cats, but not other dogs. Because of his lack of training, we will not place him in a home with young children. Currently located in Lake Winola, PA. 12/29/2001

Valentino: Valentino is a 3 year old male short hair weighing approximately 140 lbs. He is housebroken and good with children of all ages. Valentino knows sit, paw and down (in both English and Italian, no less!) He is good on a leash. Valentino needs to be the only pet in the household. His owner is surrendering him because he is fighting with the other dog in his home. Currently located in Pottstown, PA. 12/29/2001

Duke: longhair, very big boy, 2 years old, birthday 12/7/98. He is a massive Saint, ok with other dogs, loves children, has been wonderfully trained, quite a gentle giant. He loves to go on short walks and play with a rope. He lost his home because of a divorce 12/29/2001

Sadie: Sadie is a really good girl, just shy. We estimate her to be about 2-3 years old, on the small side–probably 90-100 pounds. She’s great with the other dogs–large and small–but I don’t know about cats. Good with people. Sadie is a real sweetheart, very loving–she’s obviously been starved for attention. Sadie is reliably housebroken and crate-trained. She’s never chewed anything in the house, but will sneak on the furniture, if she thinks she can get away with it. She’s afraid of thunderstorms–prefers her crate at such times–and will run and hide if someone raises their voice. She’s been hit with things, as she’ll flinch to a raised hand, or something in your hand if you move too fast. But she’s *much* better than she was in Dec! 12/24/2001

Ellie: and May: two five month old St. Bernard mixes (probably sisters) found and never reclaimed at local shelter. Ellie is a smooth coat and May is a longhair. Both are spayed and vaccinated. They do not have to be adopted together. 12/24/2001

Cookie: 6 year old male. 12/23/2001

Apollo: Apollo is an 11 month old neutered male and what a lovebug! He’s good with other dogs, kids and ferrets (really!). I actually watched him play tug of war with a yorkie puppy! He is housebroken and gentle, but very playful. He weighs about 130 lbs. and is still growing. Apollo is very strong and he *will* bolt if given the opportunity, so his next home really requires a fenced-in yard for his protection. Apollo knows “sit,” and prefers to practice that command on your lap. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Currently located in Delta, PA. Contact Diane Notarangelo for more information on Apollo. 12/19/2001

Louisa: is a 2.5 yo spayed female rough coat. She very sweet and gentle. Her previous owner had surgery performed on her so she sounds very hoarse when she barks. Please help Louisa find the loving family she deserves. 12/19/2001

Tired of that, they threatened to shoot him. A good Samaritan took Ernie to a no-kill shelter where he has been for the past three months. He is now a guest at Pakenham Country Kennels where he is learning basic commands (he has already learned sit and down) and will be integrated into the household over the next little while where he will learn to live with two other Saint Bernards and two housecats. He passed the kiddie test with flying colors, with regard to tail pulling, rough-housing, etc. But in his short life, it has been reinforced that growling while at his food dish or with a bone is acceptable (“If I growl, you’ll leave me alone”), so we won’t place him in a home with young children. I really like naps, riding in the car, naps, going for a walk and then, perhaps, another nap. I do drool, but it is mostly when I get excited or hot. I also am real tall and like drinking out of the bathroom sink when I get a chance. I can be somewhat of an escape artist and don’t always want to stay in a fenced area, but I am learning what I should, and shouldn’t do, and I listen pretty well, so if you are a bit patient with me, I think I can get it. I walk fairly well on a leash, and when I can remember them, I do know some basic commands, such as sit. Here is what Molly’s foster mom says about her; Molly is a 4-year-old spayed female who thinks she is a princess. Molly has the saddest looking face and dislikes being scolded. She knows sit and down, but because of a past surgery to repair a tendon, she sits slowly. Molly minds well, and when told to go into her crate, she walks in immediately. Molly loves car rides and will go with anyone who’ll take her. Molly reminds me of a big old teddy bear that loves to be squished and hugged. She enjoys long walks and especially loves company. We will ONLY adopt to families with fenced yards ( we WILL do a home visit), excellent vet references AND we will give preference to families with prior Saint experience. We do NOT adopt out of our adoption region. We adopt to all of New York state and to some areas adjacent to NY State. 7/26/2001

She has no experience with cats. She is an indoor dog, but loves to explore outdoors. Unfortunately she came into rescue very pregnant and is currently in foster care to have her babies. In spite of all these recent changes in her life she is wonderful and such a sweetheart! She bonds quickly, and loves kids. A very pretty and sweet girl, any family would be lucky to have her as a addition. She also gives it, in spades. Lovely girl. 4/25/2001

Shasta: 2-1/2 year old spayed female. Given up because of alleged aggression toward another dog in the household. She has met with several Saints while in our care and has been lovely, with no apparent “issues” with other dogs. Shasta is very active and bright, learns very quickly, and would make a wonderful obedience or search & rescue prospect. She’s probably a bit too much for a home with small children, though she came from a home with small children (go figure). Should go to an active, busy family that wants to share their activities with a sweet and friendly dog. 4/25/2001

At home he was terrific with two young children with whom he was raised. However, his over protectiveness of his kids and their home began to create problems when strangers came to the door. Although Butch NEVER bit anyone, his owners decided it was best to ask for Rescue’s help. Hope: is about 2 1/2 years old according to the vets. She came from a puppy mill operation that was raided about three weeks ago. She was near death at the time and weighed about 76 pounds. She is a decent height and now weighs 92 pounds. Her hips appear to be good and she is good with my terriers and my Saints. She really likes children but is quite shy especially with men. She has shown no aggression, would rather run away… She is a nicely marked rough (sparse coated), mantle coat in red with only a little ticking on her muzzle. Eyes show no signs of any problems. She does appear to have a problem with a lack of clotting so may be difficult to spay. She has been good in the house, with only a couple of accidents and can ask for the door. I get the impression she may have been somebody’s dog before she ended up in the puppy mill. Upon being removed from the miller she aborted a litter of twelve puppies. I am situated in Winnipeg, Manitoba. 3/28/2001

Josie: 9ยฝ Year old. Female – Smooth Coat UPDATE 3/21/01 Josie is doing very well, her new diet has provided her a new “lease” on life. She now has the energy of a 4 year old. This is one strong healthy dog. Still loves everyone and even at her age is learning obedience. Josie is the true representative of the Saint Bernard Breed. What a sweet sweet dog! UPDATE After meeting Josie and having the vet look at her – she may have “many” years left! She looks just like “Missy” from the Beethoven movie! She is in great health! She is so full of energy! We still think she is 9 but acts more like 3. What a great healthy beautiful dog! She adores everybody – kids too! Loves belly rubs! We believe she was a very well bred dog – just don’t know who the breeder is. Josie was dumped by her owner at the age of 9 Years Old. Yes 9 years old! Tanner’s: owner packed up and moved west…forgetting to pack Tanner and take him along. Tanner is a 3 yr. old smoothcoated, split-mantle Saint Bernard (whelp date 97-12-01). He knows a few basic commands and is accustomed to living indoors (and on the loveseat!). Tanner has been good with all the people he has met, but because of his size, we’d prefer children over 10 yrs. of age. A fenced yard or exercise area is a must, as is Saint Bernard experience. They would have loved to keep him but had severe allergies in the family, it was a very teary eyed situation on their part when we came to get him. He is a typical puppy and will go through all of the puppy mischief. We have started obedience with him and as long as he is interested he will learn. He has learned Sit, Come, and Down. Very smart puppy – but also the puppy attention span. Barry is a half mask, has two hospice (spotted) ears with LOTS AND LOTS of white in his coat. What a sweet dog. 1/18/2001

Elsie: 2-1/2 – 3 Years Female – Smooth Coat Elsie was turned into a shelter by her owner along with her partner Elmer. They absolutely love each other, so if you want a “pair” these are the ones to get. They do not necessarily have to be adopted together but they can be. They get along famously. Obedience training is needed, but we feel she is smart and so attentive she can learn fast. 1/18/2001

Elmer: 1 – 1-1/2 Years Male – Smooth Coat Elmer was turned into a shelter by his owner along with his partner Elise. Their previous owners got rid of them due to “lack of time”. He gets along with most other dogs, but is very protective of Elsie. This may be his mother we are not sure. Rocky: 14 Month Old Male – Rough Coat Poor dear sweet Rocky. He has got the most beautiful loving eyes ever! He is somewhat of a “special needs” dog. His special needs; food and love! Rocky weighs a mere 78 pounds. His previous owners tried to turn him into the Humane Society but when they found out they would have to pay to leave him, they left. The next morning he was found tied to their fence so tight that he could not move. Rocky was almost starved to death. He has to learn to eat all over again. In the few days we have had him, he is doing much better learning to eat now, and holding down “most” of his food. He is sweet and loving and just needs a good place to be a good dog. It looks as though something was spilled or poured on poor Rocky as his fur on his rear is stained purple. He listens rather well, is a bit shy and grateful for any attention he gets. 1/18/2001

Duncan: is approx 18 mo old neutered male that came from a shelter far away and the shelter said he was a St/mix. The picture they sent looked like St/Akita mix, which Delilah is so we said yes. When I met the volunteer that brought him- I said he’s not a St/mix – well – I fell in love anyway- and since they had spent so much time and energy anyway – I took him. We think-maybe he’s lab/border collie/akita/dal mix. Oh well, he’s VERY sweet!! He sits, downs, walks very nice on leash, loves to give kisses but has an injury to his tail – possibly from a trap when he was stray. He weighs about 83 #. 1/4/2001
